Nice area, difficult to put in trailer.

This park was well maintained, as most state parks have been.  However, the sites were a good size but were very difficult to get even a small trailer into the site due to the narrow roads.  We were tent camping, in the beginning of May, and the weather was cold and wet.  The swimming area was nice…

Great campground; need to update map.

This was a great campground.  We were tent camping, so the humidity was a bit rough the first week of June.  The camp sites were very well maintained and the bathrooms were clean, although lacking some hot water for showers.  The camp site map can be a bit confusing as the colors don't always…

Beautiful campground w/ great beer & hiking

The campground is small and well-kept. It has an incredibly chill and laid-back vibe.

You are a quick walk to the brewery and café, where you can grab breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is nice and dark at the campground, so great for star watching.

There are several small walking paths throughout…

Lots to do!

We stayed in Cabin #3 and it was perfect. It’s a 3BR/2BA spacious cabin, wooded and lakeside. Great sunsets and nice big deck (some areas of the porch are covered, and have rocking chairs). Kitchen is equipped with microwave, toaster, coffee pot, water glasses, coffee mugs, plates, bowls, utensils,…

Okay, but not well thought out

PROS This is a nice clean campground within walking distance to the Brewery - which is why most people camp there. Nice hiking trails, well marked and wide. WiFi was decent. Beautiful area with Mountain View’s.

CONS There are no trees on the RV section, which means if you camp in the summer…

One of our Favorites

We love camping at Holliday Lake. It is completely off grid, and we like that! With busy jobs during the week it’s nice to unwind and enjoy nature. We hike, fish, swim, kayak, rent a motor boat, and just relax at our campsite. We watched a Bald Eagle and an Osprey for over an hour while kayaking…

2 Night Minimum

Just went to book a site since I’m in the area, and it’s a two-night minimum to tent camp. This seems crazy for a Sunday night and the campground is not at all packed. It’s also $50/night, which is too high for primitive sites.

Great location!

This campground has full-hookup sites, tent-only sites, and some hip camp sites as well. We tent camped here in January at a full hook-up site so we could have heaters in the tent. During the summer we would definitely choose one of the tent only sites because they have more privacy and are more so…

Meh!

This campground is definitely for trail bikers and RVers. The campsites fill up quickly. If you do not reserve your spot early, you may be placed near the road, where traffic is an issue. There is not much more to do at this park

Good brews and hiking

Second time I camped there. First time during COVID restrictions. Self check in to the sites. Very clean bathrooms and a lot of firewood available for purchase. Under the COVID restrictions, the brewery requires reservations for dining in the restaurant (both in and outdoors) during peak times, or…

Trails and Fun

We stayed here for three nights in October.   Sites are large and well shaded.   Water drainage is great.   A little uneven, but easy to handle.   We had a great time hiking down to the river and biking around the campground.   Very friendly and clean.  We will definitely…

The Great Escape

We loved visiting Powhatan State Park. The fall foliage was very beautiful. The park staff and other campers were polite and helpful. I didn't expect to see bulletins of Virginia History on the grounds. But my inner nerd was intrigued. 🤓 We stayed during the week in October. It was warm enough…

Great park!

Campground is waaayyy back in the back of park. Only a few years old. No full hookup (yes 30/50 amp). Well maintained trails, level sites. No river access in campground.

Gorgeous views

Great, long sites. Fire rings are placed a little weird but it’s all doable. Views are gorgeous, very mountainous. Camp host was a little strict and not the friendliest (especially for a brewery campground). There are several places to camp, tent area, RV area and HipCamp. All were well taken care…
