You can get back to basics on a primitive tent site, sleep above the ground in a tree tent, try it before you buy it in an RV Rental, add a little luxury to your RVing with a deluxe patio site, sleep like an adventurer in a safari tent or get the ultimate glamping experience in one of our deluxe cabins or Island Bungalows. There are tons of amenities to keep you busy during your stay on Chincoteague Island. Take a dip in our pool, let the kids burn off some energy on our jump pillow or at our playground, take your pup to the dog park, or get in on the fun at the activities center. We also have a full slate of events and themed weekends, so there's never a dull moment. We're located in the heart of Chincoteague, so everything is at your fingertips. We're just one mile from the sandy beaches and wild ponies of Assateague Island National Seashore and great restaurants and shopping are just a short drive away. One of the island's premier attractions is just steps from the campground. At Maui Jack's Waterpark, you can cool off and relax in the lazy river or get your adrenaline pumping on twisting water slides. There's an area just for kids with fountains, tipping buckets and waterfalls and adults can lounge in a cabana or grab a cocktail and a snack from Keko's Bar and Grill.

Has such potential but is very tight. Sites are one on top of the other. We were at the primitive tent site and that was extremely crowded. The sites are not assigned so it is pretty much a free for all. Campers drag benches and fire pits wherever they want which leaves some sites with no fire pit or campers hunting for benches. We were only there one night so we didn't waste time looking for a fire pit- just did without one. Would be nice if they marked off sites so that people were not right on top of you. Should also secure benches and fire pits so each site has one. Was very chaotic compared to state ran campgrounds- even for a holiday weekend. Someone showed up at 2am and setup camp right next to us. We woke up and they were sitting there looking into our tent. We just packed up and left. Gave it 3 stars because the water-park tickets are a great value and the location is awesome. Bathrooms were also in good shape- could have been cleaner but because the site was so crowded it was near impossible for staff to clean them often enough.

TravelerNeeds desperate updating--but still excellent
While this campground needs some serious updates, it gets a high rating from my family. The sites are tight and not very clean, however, when I reported issues to the front office, they immediately tried to help fix the issue. Unfortunately, this campground needs MANY repairs and updates.
However, the staff was so wonderful, the activities were so fulsome and the location is so amazing, we will definitely return and I would recommend this campground to others. It is a bit overpriced for what it is, but good just the same.
