Clean stop off I-95, Ashland VA

Just north of Richmond Virginia, off interstate 95, this park is located between the interstate and Ashland Industrial Airpark. If that doesn't sound appealing please read on....Americamps is mostly surrounded by woods, has a seasonal pool, a clean bathhouse (check to see if open due to Covid 19), a nice camp store, propane for sale AND is walking distance to a local brewery (COTU-Center of the Universe) that often has live music or events on the weekends. Sounds intriguing? Here is more.....it is close to Kings Dominion Park, a Bass Pro Shop, the famous Greentop Hunting/Fishing Store, Randolph Macon College, Hanover Tavern and the adorable railroad town of Ashland. There are some full time residents, but it doesn't look like a hobo camp! The camp is neat and tidy. If you venture up to Ashland, there is fast food, a Mexican restaurant, El Azteca, and a wonderful family owned Italian place, Marco's, east of Rt. 1. If you go west of Rt. 1 into the real town part of Ashland you will find two sports bars (Sports Page and Huddle Up)with good menus and two restaurants along the railroad tracks (The Iron house and Trackside). There is a Cafe behind the wine and beer shoppe called The Caboose. If you drive just west of town on 54 there is a BBQ restaurant called Jake's Place. I hope that information saves you from fast food and gives you a pleasant experience! The railroad tracks run right through the middle of Ashland, as does Center Street where you can walk the sidewalks that run up and down each side. There is a Railroad Station, a library and shops along and just off Center Street. So here is my disclaimer: I have never spent the night here. When my children were small a former neighbor lived at Americamps and we went swimming there occasionally. I regularly buy propane here for our motorhome and sticks and bricks home. I drive by this campground several times a week and have been in and out visiting or buying propane for over 25 years. So if you need a stop off 95 or are visiting the area, this is a good place to park yourself!
