   Overview

   Moosalamoo Campground is a small remote campground located at the base of Mt. Moosalamoo, near Voter Brook. A large mowed grass field in the middle of the campground is good for a variety of activities, especially for groups with children. There are 19 campsites (including one host site), six vault toilets and potable water is available on site via a hand-pump.

   Recreation

   The Moosalamoo National Recreation Area consists of 16,000 acres abounding with recreation opportunities. With over 70 miles of well-maintained trails, mountain vistas, waterfalls, lakes and streams, it offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting and more. Two hiking trails (Mt. Moosalamoo and Voter Brook) are connected to the campground loop and less than a mile down the road is Voter Brook Overlook, featuring a picnic area and an accessible path leading to a western vista.

   Facilities

   The campground offers 18 overnight sites for tent and limited RV camping. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring (with grill). There are six accessible vault toilets located within the campground. The campground also offers first-come, first-served sites.

   Natural Features

   Moosalamoo Campground is set in a pleasant stand of sugar maple, American beech, yellow birch and many other hardwoods. Its assortment of trees and ample ferns and wildflowers add to its beauty and provide shade and privacy to the campsites.

   The nearest available shopping is in Ripton, located four miles from the campground. More extensive shopping and dining can be found in Middlebury or Brandon, both located 12 miles from the campground.

   Overview

   Silver Lake Campground is a small, primitive hike or bike-in only campground located on Silver Lake in Leicester, VT. There are 15 campsites, seven of which are available for advanced reservations along with eight first-come, first-served sites. It is a 0.6 mile hike in or a 1.5 mile bike ride in to access the campground.__ Please note: This Silver Lake Campground is located in Vermont.

   Recreation

   The Moosalamoo National Recreation Area consists of 16,000 acres abounding with recreation opportunities. With over 70 miles of well-maintained trails, mountain vistas, waterfalls, lakes and streams, it offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting and more. From Silver Lake Campground, several hiking and mountain biking trails begin, including the Leicester Hollow / Chandler Ridge loop (open to hiking and biking) and the Rattlesnake Cliff / Aunt Jenny hiking loop (closed March 15 - August 1 for Peregrine Falcon nesting). Fishing and swimming are both popular activities accessible from the campground.

   Facilities

   There are two vault toilets and a spring (treat or boil water) within the campground. To access each campsite you must hike or bike-in, including all your gear. Each campsite has a fire ring, picnic table and a bear-proof food storage locker.________ There is no garbage service available; please carry out what you carry in.

   Natural Features

   Silver Lake is a gorgeous 100-acre lake surrounded by National Forest on all sides. It has attracted people for many generations and, along with its natural beauty, holds a strong sense of history. Long before the famous Silver Lake Hotel and religious retreat located on the site of today's picnic area, ancestors of today's Abenaki people were here enjoying the peace and beauty.

   Greendale campground is a small remote campground located along Greendale Brook in Weston, VT. There are 11 campsites available in a wooded campground setting. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring with a grill, and a parking spur. Most sites can accommodate small to medium campers as well as tents. There is also a barrier-free vault toilet. The campground offers easy access to the Greendale Loop, a 4.0 mile hike through a mixed forest of northern hardwood and conifer trees with long stretches bordering scenic streams.    Forest Road 71: This forest road stretches from the old Somerset airfield to the Kelley Stand Road. Campsites can be found in various spots along the way and along some of the forest roads leading off of Forest Road 71.

   There are many general forest areas available on the Green Mountain National Forest for rustic or dispersed camping. These areas provide a place to camp and enjoy nature’s solitude at no charge. Visitors can camp anywhere on the forest unless the area is posted closed to camping. Camp in existing sites or stay the strongly recommended 200 feet from roads, streams, trails, and bodies of water to disperse impact. Do not cut any vegetation. There is a camping limit of 14 days in any 30-day period on the Forest. Please leave the campsites clean by using Leave No Trace Principles, such as carry out what you carry in.

   Chittenden Brook Campground is situated in a beautiful northern hardwoods forest, approximately seven miles from Rochester, VT. It is a small and semi-remote campground, perfect for those who seek a more tranquil camping experience. The Green Mountain National Forest in partnership with the Vermont Huts Association has a cabin located at the Chittenden Brook Campground available for reservations. The Chittenden Brook Hut (pictured above) is open for year-round use and is located within the semi-remote campground on the Green Mountain National Forest.    Recreation

   With an abundance of well-maintained trails, mountain vistas, waterfalls, and streams, the Chittenden Brook area offers plentiful opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, river tubing, fishing, hunting, and more. The Chittenden Brook trail system starts at the campground and passes through a mature northern hardwood forest, along a pristine mountain stream, and past a beaver pond on its way to connecting with the Long Trail.

   Facilities

   The campground offers 17 overnight sites for tent and small RV camping (maximum 18'). Each site has a picnic table, fire ring with a grill, parking spur with space for two cars, and a gravel tent pad. There are two barrier-free vault toilets, but there is no potable water available. There is a recycling and trash station at the end of the campground loop. The campground also offers several first-come, first-served sites along with sites that can be reserved.

   Natural Features

   The campground is located along Chittenden Brook, a pristine mountain stream that feeds into the White River. Wildlife located in this area includes white-tailed deer, moose, and black bear.

   Overview

   Hapgood Pond Recreation Area and Campground is situated next to its scenic namesake pond, 13 miles east of Manchester, Vermont. Visitors enjoy camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and hiking.

   Recreation

   The Hapgood Pond is a popular place for non-motorized boating, including canoeing and kayaking. A carry-down launch area is located on the south end of the pond. Fishing and swimming are also favorite activities. Hapgood boasts the Forest's only designated and managed swim beach. A fishing pier is located on the south shore. Hapgood Pond Trail begins in the day-use area and continues almost a mile around the north edge of the pond to the dam. A short spur trail follows a stream and winds through the woods around the pond. Younger visitors love the big play field area within Hapgood, a perfect spot for Frisbee or ball games.

   Facilities

   Hapgood Pond Recreation Area offers family campsites and day-use picnic shelters for groups. First come, first served sites are available. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Each family campsite is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, parking spur, and a cleared area for a tent. Campsites 9-28 are reservable. Each group picnic shelter can accommodate up to 35 people, and is equipped with a pavilion, picnic tables, and a grill. The two shelters are available for reservations.

   Natural Features

   Hapgood Pond Recreation Area is eight acres and is set in a wooded area in the northeastern portion of the Green Mountain National Forest, which encompasses over 400,000 acres in southwestern and central Vermont. Hapgood Pond covers another 12 acres which is perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. The Green Mountain National Forests includes three nationally designated trails: the Appalachian Trail, the Long Trail, and the Robert Frost National Recreation Trail. The Forest also contains three alpine ski areas, seven Nordic ski areas, and approximately 900 miles of multiple-use trails.
