Zion Campground is a spacious piece of paradise that has been owned and operated by the Ferber family since 1973 when the adjoining Zion Canyon Campground and RV resort was founded by David Ferber. Our staff has explored the canyons and surrounding areas and can be quite helpful about where to go, what to wear and who to see for the outdoor adventure of a lifetime.

 After a long day come back to your site and freshen up for dinner with a choice of more than a dozen local eateries from casual to upscale all within a shuttle from our campground. After dinner sit outside and watch the sunset under The Watchman, a truly breathtaking sight.

We only allow two pets in a site and they must be in an air-conditioned RV/Trailer. There are no pets allowed in tent sites or in sites in which the vehicle will not have air-conditioned being run all day.



Zion Canyon Campground

There is nothing impressive about this campground. If you have an RV/trailer and it’s all that is available, it will do. If you are tent camping- find somewhere else. I have no intention of ever going back or revisiting this place. The staff wasn’t very friendly and the sites were just dusty/dirt. This is my least favorite campground- ever. 

Pros: location, location, location. Close to the south entrance of Zion National Park. I think you can even float the Virgin River from the campground (we went in the fall and it was too cold for us). Facilities were clean. Close to shops/restaurants. Cell phone service (T Mobile).

Cons: Busy and commercialized. Since it’s behind a hotel, don’t expect to be camping “in nature”. We should have just stayed in the hotel. Staff was acceptable, but not overly friendly. 

In one word: Meh.

This is the closest campground to Zion National Park without actually being inside the park. You can walk to the National Park from the campground or take the free shuttle which picks up basically right at the entrance to the campground. They do not take reservations. You get a coin for the shower, which lasts 7 minutes. There are spots for RV's and tent sites. I did notice a bit of a sewage smell but it was fairly faint. The campground is situated by the river and the scenery is incredible. The campsites are pretty decent, enough space to park and set up the tent, with a picnic table. Not a lot of privacy in the spot we were in but the ones on the river had more privacy. They do have a quiet time, and if there is ever an issue with people having a loud party, you can call the Inn (there is a hotel that runs the campground) and they will send someone out. Also right across the street you can get ice cream and there is a large convenience store.

Good access to Zion and its shuttle. Stayed here for a night and definitely did not have any privacy. Would not go back to this particular campground.

Nice, for a national park campground

Camp sites are the size of a single car port and stacked side by side. Even if your neighbors are normal people they still seem loud. The bathrooms were always accessible and clean stayed two nights never waited in line. Get a free shower a night by coin given at check in but twice it didn't work and had to get re-dressed and walk to the front office. You can't pick a site when you book its assigned when you check-in. I would stay there again if everything else was booked but $40 a night is steep for the space provided. Check Watchman and South campground in the park first and then book here.

Crampt but clean 

This is a private campground located a few miles from the [Zion National Park](https://www.nps.gov/zion/index.htm) entrance in Springdale. This campground is run by the Quality Inn Springdale and located just behind the hotel. I spent two nights here in March 2017 on a Friday and Saturday night. After not successfully reserving a campsite in the park and hoping to avoid the stress of first come first serve, I found this private campground still available. It is $39 per night for tents and each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has flush toilets, free showers (one token per night per person and 6 min of shower per token) and drinking water and some sites back up to the Virgin River.

While this campground is conveniently located to the shops and restaurants of Springdale and close to the shuttle stop, it lacked greatly in ambience. Our site backed up to a fence with homes on the other side a mere 5 feet away. The sites themselves were very small and we had to rearrange the camp to fit our small two person Marmot tent on a flat piece of ground. The campground was loud with many uncourteous neighbors who were loud well past midnight. It’s hard to get up early to hike when your camp neighbors (who are only 5 feet away) arrive at 10PM, set up multiple tents and then decide to start partying around midnight. 

I did appreciate the clean hot free showers and the closeness to the park and restaurants. I walked to the park entrance every day instead of using the shuttles. I also highly recommend two close and local restaurants. [The Whiptail Grill](http://www.whiptailgrillzion.com/) had an amazing dinner with delicious enchiladas and the [Café Soleil](http://cafesoleilzionpark.com/) had great breakfasts and lunch. I went to the café 3 times on our 3 day trip and purchased some of the local art available in the front of the café.

Zion Park itself is beautiful but overcrowded. Having been to 30+ national parks I don’t quite understand the level of popularity of this park over others besides its close proximity to Southern California and Las Vegas.

Visited in June 2015\. Very busy, but had one of the best experiences of my life hiking the Narrows. Highly recommend.

A Canyon Oasis

The campground was very nice, with pull through camper spots and trees separating the spaces. Spectacular views of cliff faces on either side. Very easy access to the park bus. Playground's and a clean pool available for all. The shower's were clean and the bathroom's were ok.  The campground was clean and quiet.  ***My only negative would be there is no where to fill propane tanks in the entire town of Springdale. 

Family friendly, with a pool!

We had the wonderful fortune of securing a campsite right on the Virgin River. It was gorgeous. Our kids used inner tubes and rafted down the river for hours while hubby and I relaxed with a bottle of wine before jumping in and joining them.

Walking distance to the park entrance. Get on the first shuttle if you want an uncrowded Narrows experience!!


Our Favorite Campground on our Roadtrip

One of our favorite places to stay. The river spots are great. Bathrooms and showers are always clean. walking distance to the entrance of Zion and to Springdale. 

Great Campground 

Pretty packed in tent camping it we were up at sunrise and hiked in to Zion. After 12 hours in the National Park the showers came in handy and campfire finished off a great day.

Close access to Zion and sufficient camping

Potato Hollow #8 camp site is part of the West Rim Trail in the Zion National Park. The hike to camp site 8, I would rate as difficult but it is well worth the trek. The view is fantastic and you encounter so much wild life (all different types of birds, baby frogs, horny toads, deer, snakes, raccoon), just watch for Rattle Snakes in the warmer months. To reach this camp site you might want to bring trekking poles because the trails can become very steep and eroded. At camp site 8 there are no restrooms, please pack out what you packed in. There is nothing worse than coming across other campers trash in such a beautiful place. You will need to pack in water as well! But there is a stream close by you will need a handy dandy shovel to dig down to it, also a good filtration system would be very beneficial. You do need a camping permit to camp here. So, be sure to plan ahead! We had an absolute blast pushing ourselves to the limit and enjoying what nature had in store. On this backpacking trip we encountered a thunderstorm every night at 5pm and with it came rain, hail, wind and whatever else nature decided would be a great addition! It was a bit intimidating but well worth the trip! You will need to purchase a discovery pass or Zion National Park Pass as well as your permits. You can bike to this camp site as well.

No safe water to drink without filtration system and you have to dig for it

No bathrooms, so leave no trace please

No trash cans

Ranger Review: Oofos Oolala at Potato Hollow Campsite #8

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get the wonderful opportunity to test products from time to time, today I am testing Oofos Oolala recovery shoes. These shoes are great recovery shoes and I have been testing them out to the max. I have used them as shower shoes at a KOA in Salt Lake. These shoes are very light weight and comfortable. The first time I walked around in Oofos Oolala Recovery shoe I lost my balance, it was pretty funny to watch. So, just prepare yourself before adventuring too far in them.

I took my Oofos on my camping trip to switch out of once we were done hiking and setting up camp. It was a great idea but these shoes aren't really geared for people who have blisters. They comfortably cradle your feet and help reduce the stress on your feet and knees after a long day, but they do have this amazing ability to press on every single one of your blisters after a long backpacking trip! Ouch. The rubber does tend to heat up too, so if you have dirt on your feet, the shoes cause your feet to sweat and the sweat rubs the dirt and then you're left with an odd looking rash. So, I wouldn't recommend taking these as an extra pair of shoes to switch out of after a day of backpacking. They are unstable to walk in on uneven terrain, much too hot, press on blisters not for the rustic life style.

I do recommend these shoes for urban use! I work and stand on cement floors every day and when I come home my feet are killing me. One day I decided to try my Oofos when I got home from work and these shoes helped relieve all the pain in my feet, lower back and helped with the extreme level of fatigue I was feeling. I felt as good as new! These shoes are a real feet saver after a full day at work or after a long run. They even work great as shower shoes! I love the color and style of them, they fit my feet perfectly. I am an 8.5 and I had to order a half size up. I did get the Oofos OOMG shoe as well but should have ordered a full size up, they are too short and I haven't been able to review them. =( But my Oofos Oolala are very comfortable, they do not slip off my feet (not even when they are wet) like so many flipflops usually do. They also float! So if they do fly off the back of a boat don't worry! They wont sink!

I give my Oofos Oolala 5 stars, they didn't really help out on my camping trip but they have saved my feet after a long week at work.

Potato Hollow Springs-- Oofos Oolala

Zion national park is one of the most amazing parks and is highly recommended to spend multiple days in order to experience all the park destinations. We spent 3 nights at this campground with 17 total people (10 adults and 7 kids). The campground is not located inside Zion park but it’s so close that you can easily walk to the park entrance (10-15 walk with kids). There is also a town shuttle that picks you up directly in front of the campground office, the town shuttle is small and fills up quick so walking is a great alternative to getting to the park. There is also plenty of great shops along the way, coffee in the mornings, or a fantastic brewery for lunch and dinner. The campground offers full hook ups for RV’s and nice sites along the river for tents with nice clean large bathrooms. Campsites include a fire pit, grill, and picnic tables for every site. Sites are close together but well kept with trees. Campers have access to the hotel pool, laundry, kids playground, and WiFi (which was surprisingly fast). There’s plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a decent market located directly across the street. But the most amazing part of this campground is the spectacular views and easy accessibility to Zion park and other amenities. 

Best All Around Destination

Everything you’d expect from a campground/RG park right next to a major National Park. Everything you need. Loved it would def stay again. 

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

The campground is just outside Zion National Park. It’s located in basically a small town with whatever you will need during your stay. The campground itself has lots of shade; some spots even next to a small river. Being able to cool off either in the river or the pool is clutch in the summer months. It’s definitely packed in here on the weekends with neighbors right next to you. People were friendly and staff was great! Bathrooms had A/C and were very clean; showers as well. Would definitely stay again in a tent; our spot J24!

Convenient

This is an awesome campground!  With full hookup’s and a creek within the campground.

Next to Park Entrance 

Walk right into Zion from this campground! Not only is it convenient, but most spots are shaded and you can also use the nearby hotel amenities (outdoor pool, vending, laundry (for a fee)). The showers/bathrooms are very clean and you are given shower coins per person/per day. We lucked out with one spot being open but I would recommend booking ahead of time! 

Clean and convenient 

This place is great for RV and Tent camping. There are 2 locations of restrooms and showers. Both have male and female restrooms on oposite sides along with 4 showers on each side. Very clean. Most of the tent sites are shaded they are 35’x16’ they do take your vehicle on the site as well so plan accordingly.  Each site has a fire pit with grill and a stand alone grill. Really great place to stay. The Virgin River runs alongside the campsite. It is so close to the National Park as well.

Great place to stay

This was a good campsite for our tent. There were many more rv sites that were available. There are showers and bathrooms available. Each tent site has a firepit with grill top, and briquette BBQ. The site were large enough for two tents, very dusty and some Rocky sites.

Some sites have more shade than others, in the full sun. Later in the day the entire campground is shaded. 

Nice stay, expensive for a tent site. 

This campground is essentially right outside of the south entrance gate to Zion National Park. They have very spacious tent sites, but it is a bit on the pricey side. There are restrooms as well as showers and the campground is usually pretty busy. Overall a nice spot if you're unable to get a camp site inside of the park.

Easy Access to Zion

Pretty typical for an RV Park...lots of people, dogs and trailers.  Showers and bathrooms are nice and clean.  Not ideal for tent camping cause the sites are very close together and it gets loud in the morning, but if you can’t get a spot inside the park, this is a good option.

We stayed here 10/6-10/9/20. We stayed in site D29 right on the river. Great spot. Beautiful river view/access. Too bad the river was contaminated at the time with some sort of neurotoxin. Full hook ups. Mediocre cell service and horrible WIFI. Connected to a hotel for friends without RV’s. Short walk to amazing Zion. Would definitely stay here again. 

Zion Amazing 

Zion is amazing. There is no denying that. But as for the Zion Canyon Campground, I personally didn't dig it. Whether you are tent camping or in an RV, you're essentially in a parking lot. The spaces are 12 feet wide so you better hope you have nice neighbors.

Every public area is filled with masses of people taking zero precautions during the pandemic. Even the front desk staff isn't wearing masks during a state mandate requiring them. 

We had a (very expensive) paid reservation for 3 nights and left after the first night.

Packed in like sardines. 

Stayed for 3 nights. Spots are very tight so no sense of privacy but the backdrop is just magnificent. One can also hear the Virgin River run through especially at night. 
You are paying for the proximity to Zion’s main entrance and shops and restaurants. If you can’t book inside Zion, this spot is the best contingency. 

Awesome Central Location

Camping under the mountains is exactly what I had in mind for our trip and this site delivered. Wake up to the mountains out your front door, hear the stream just steps away. Plus, kid-approved playground within the grounds. Sites are pretty close together and can be hard to navigate with larger rigs. 

We suggest one of the lower/back sites especially in one of the loops to the back right as it was low traffic and our kids made quick friends within that circle drive and the ride bikes together for hours right around the loop. 

Plus walking and biking distance to Zion National park, no need to even find-pay for parking if you’d prefer a short bike down the street. We recommend hoodoos for ice cream (and that shop has all the essentials you might run low on too) and the friendliest staff. You won’t regret your stay here! 

Absolutely beautiful! 

If you can’t snag a spot inside the park this is the next best place to RV or tent camp. Amazing views surround you, clean bathrooms and showers, great spots right by the river if you can grab one. Easy 10 min walk to the park entrance and lots of restaurants nearby.

Great views just outside the park

I have stayed at this campground twice. The absolute BEST spots are right on the river. We had a great time with our river spot, we brought chairs out on the river and could hang out all day. We went river rafting with our inner tubes as well. The views from the campsite is ABSOLUTELY amazing. We stayed for a whole week, and the views of the canyons never got old. We would see deer all the time come to to the river. This campground is right outside of the park but a very small walk that took us 1 0 minutes, I think about half a mile. Or you can take the free Springdale shuttle, the shuttle stop is right out front of the campground. There is a restaurant right next door and a mini mart across the street with all the essentials but obviously very costly. 
The site itself was a little small and are close to your neighbors but it still was very relaxing. Our site R6 was shaded with two big trees we could put our hammock on. The only weird thing is the site said it had a grill but it didn’t it only had a fire pit. Also make sure if you get the spots along the river they have no sewer connection but there still is a dumping station in the campgrounds themselves.

LOVE this campground

Flash flooding only a few days ago and they are open for business! 
You get a token for a 6 minute shower per person per night. 
Damage from the flood means no pool right now or laundry services but the campground is open and just a short walk to Zion. We weren’t aware of how close and sat waiting for the shuttle we could have walked in that amount of time. Decided to stay longer in park and just walk back.

Fast Cleanup!!

If you want to camp here I recommend making your reservations in advance. 
If you are unable to there is a campground right outside of Zion. It’s not on the maps. You drive through Zion. You can do late night check ins. 
Zion in an amazing place to camp.
So much to explore. Definitely worth coming here. 


First time in Zion

Beautiful scenery and perfect location!  Walking distance to Zion park entrance and great way to avoid crazy traffic. Our site was right on the river with an amazing view of the canyons. Spaces are a little small but the location makes up for it. River front spots don’t have sewer but power and water and a dump station. Showers were clean and close to sites. 

Zion Canyon

This place is nice. Easy to pull in and hook up. Very busy with people this time of year and everyone seems at ease and enjoying themselves.  Scenery is absolutely beautiful! I would stay here again! We had our own facilities on our bus so didn't use theirs so don't know the conditions. Place is pretty quiet and clean considering all the people.  Very comfortable stay.

Zion Canyon  RV

Checkin was easy, all hookups available. Convenient location  for cafe's and stores. Fantastic location to the visitor centre and shuttles. Some noise as it is one of the larger camps we stayed at but overall could not complain.

Full sun, 25 ft trailer max, quiet site in beautiful surroundings. 

Zion Watchman

Camped on a river site. Very small sites. Barely fit a tent behind our sedan. Many campers had a tent on top of car set up, would recommend for this site. Had other campers walking through our campground, so make friends with your neighbors.   Tent stakes would not go into hard gravel ground. However, the river is relaxing to listen to and the location is unbeatable. Thought the six minutes of shower per token was a bit stingy. Get ice bags and wood  from the market across the street for cheaper. The best part of the river sites are the trees to hang a hammock!

Great location, crowded as expected

Lovely spot with a river running along one side, but only people with river spots have access to it! Conveniently within the nice town of Springdale and very close to park entrance. The spots are narrow and not private, very close to neighbors. Campfires are allowed which is both a pro and con because the canyon tends to trap all the smoke and it gets difficult to breathe with so many fires. Many restaurants are within walking distance. It’s a great spot if you will be spending most of your time away from camp in the park or in town. 

Beautiful and convenient 

Talk about being right near everything from stores to restaurants and yummy ice cream places. FREE shuttles which are so relaxing to cruise on them while you are done hiking the narrows. We used our RV and had a blast. Invited some friends and we were maybe a 2-second walk from each other. bathrooms that get cleaned often. bring your own hand soap

Red dirt but wonderful

We were able to snag a back in spot on the river. The view was breathtaking. We were hoping for a relaxing few days but the spots are a little close and our neighbors pulled in with an rv of 9 people! Needless, to say it was a little noisy and we didn’t get quite the peaceful time we were hoping for. But the park itself is clean and has everything you need. 

Absolutely gorgeous !

AT&amp;T 2 bars. Showers, ice, wood for sale. Creek or small river for swimming. Hot in summer. Beautiful canyon. Everyone in bed by 10pm. Everyone returns back to their sites by 5-6pm from Zion Park.  Plenty of stores, restaurants, laundry.  A little spendy. Depends on time of year.  We spent $89 a night.  Winds moderate.  Campsites right next to everyone.  Water available.

Awesome views at sunset, spacious lots, and well kept. Best location to quickly pickup the shuttle into Zion with the stop right in front.

Beautiful spot. We stayed here in fall and loved it. Cute set up by the river, shuttle stop right at the front. 

Easy hook ups. Currently undergoing a renovation and looks like it’s going to be incredible. 

Staff were a treat. 

Great location, friendly staff

Pricey but above average amenities. Right outside Zion Nat’l Park. Pleasant staff. Drop dead gorgeous views. Very family friendly. One negative is a lot of sites don’t have adequate gravel but plenty of red mud. We all know what a mess that makes when your tires throw it on TT’s if it’s rainy !

Right in town and full of amenities! This RV park is the perfect spot to go to Zion! Call ahead and make a reservation!  Fills up quick. Had full hook ups and a pool! On free shuttle route to Zion! 

Perfect RV park for Zion

We had a great experience here! We loved how walkable the things we wanted to get to was from here. Lots of great restaurants! The shuttle stop to get into Zion was right at the entrance. When we got gear to bike ride and hike the narrows that was also within easy walking or shuttle distance. The camp host was so friendly and even gave me an extra shower token since I have extra long hair. The sites aren’t private and extremely close together but we didn’t mind since we hardly spent time in the campground itself. Showers and bathroom were very clean!

Campground super close to Zion 

Wow! I dont know what the other campgrounds are like but for this one being only a 15 min walk to the entrance to Zion and it’s surrounded by mountains, grocery stores, coffee shops. It’s perfect so close to everything you need like a little small town. We had a nice spot right by the the stream. Neighbors were all so lovely and quiet. It was my first time at Zion and this campground definitely made it worth while. Deff will go back!

Best campground for Zion

Stayed at this campground two nights when visiting Zion National Park. Loved the location could easily walk to entrance of the park and restaurants. Great spot on the Virgin river. Clean bathrooms, showers were good. Laundry facility available even though pricier then most places at 4.00 a load. Would stay here again. We had an electric hook up with fresh water available. Dump station on site. Had a pool and store.

 Rv spots are small but amenities shush as showers and bathroom and camp store were great and staff was very nice. Easy shuttle access to park and town.
