A Little Slice of Heaven

Tony Grove Lake is beautiful slice of heaven, nestled in Logan Canyon, about an 1.5 hours north of Salt Lake City. It’s very popular during the Summer and Fall months, but my personal favorite is to visit in late Spring/early Summer when the majority of the snow has melted, and Mother Nature is starting to come alive (pine tree scents, purple and yellow wildflowers blooming, snow capped mountains, etc..). This makes for a surreal, relaxing experience on the lake. In my experience, mid to late June or early July is prime time.

Here’s what I would recommend doing to capitalize your day at Tony Lake:

✅ $7 cash for day pass

✅ Arrive early around 10am to beat the crowds and get a good parking spot

✅ When looking at the lake from the parking lot, take the left path and head to the south part of the lake where all the pine trees are and secure a picnic table and a few trees to hang a hammock to soak in the view of the lake. This will be your home base for the remainder of the day. The crowds don’t show up until about 2pm.

✅ After home base is set up, walk around the nature trail around the lake which will loop back around to where homebase is. It's about a 1.2 mile dirt path and not paved.

✅ Once you’ve soaked in the views around the nature trail, eat some lunch and then get your SUP, canoe or kayak out and hop on the lake once you feel it’s warm enough. Take as long as you want, just veg out in the middle of the lake and soak up the scenery for the afternoon.

✅ Relax on your hammock and take in the view while waiting for the sunset

✅ End your day by packing up and heading to Angie’s restaurant in Logan for the “Clean the Kitchen Sink” ice cream challenge
