Ledges A Campground will be closed October 5 - 31, 2020 for site maintenance.Five separate campgrounds with 105 sites are located in a scenic, red rock valley popular with ATV, UTV and 4WD users. Individual sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis and each can accommodate 10 people and 2 vehicles. One group site, [The Ledge Group Site, is reservable for groups (15-30 people).][1] Popular in the spring and fall, these sites are very hot in summer (limited shade). Ledge B

We were out scouting around for a place to pop up our tent and this spot was great!  Note that if you are pulling something later behind your vehicle you might not be able to make it down the road as there is a super tight switchback on a canyon ledge gravel road.  We have a truck so we were good. There was hardly anyone there on Father’s Day weekend.  Camping here you are nestled in the canyon and surrounded by huge rock formations.  There is a fire pit as well as a picnic table at each site.  There are a few “ledge” campgrounds but because of Covid every other one is closed.  It’s fun to drive down the gravel road to scout out the various open sites.  We settled on Ledge B I believe it was.  Lots of bugs at night and the bats come around to swoop them up.  Was super fun to watch!  Bring your own shade :) 

Remote camping in the canyons 

This campground is ~25 minutes from downtown Moab. The road in is scenic and a fun drive and continues past the campgrounds for some 4x4 driving. The sites are spread out and the views were great. There is no shade anywhere nearby so make sure to bring your own. Fun area to walk around and climb rock features for better views. Had a standard vault bathroom and trash services.

Open Desert 

So we actually stumbled upon this by accident. We didn’t know it was $20 a night and a guy actually helped us out thank goodness. Breath taking views in the bottom of a canyon. Best sleep we have had in a while too. High recommend. 

B Sites

We drove down Kane Creek Road about 30 minutes, once off the pavement near Kane Creek Campground the road continues on but is dirt. For the most part it is do-able with 2 wheel drive but if you have a van or anything with a high center of gravity take it slow on some of the switchbacks. The first loop was open, with 15-20 sites all with picnic tables and fire rings. Two toilets and dumpsters available as well. Maintained by BLM and Public Land Use they do a really good job! Great area for mountain biking, hiking, petroglyph hunting, and off roading. No cell signal, but who needs it when you have views this beautiful.

In mid June we were the only ones within sight. 8 miles back in the canyon and no one around! Super windy which made camping tough but was a great experience!

Solitude

Posting this so people know the Ledge B Groupsite is within the Ledge B Campground. This is different from the other group sites in the Ledge Campground &amp; it is not stated in the map at the entrance to the Ledge B Campground or anywhere online or elsewhere. We made reservations as we were getting there late on a Friday the day before the annular eclipse.l-10/14/23. When we got there we did notice that there were some campsites available in ledge B. That said, it was pretty packed that night, but through the rest of the week it cleared out. It’s beautiful out there &amp; climbing up the small hill behind ledge B Groupsite gives a spectacular view as far as the eye can see. There is no running water, &amp; the campground is at least a 30minute drive from town. The better toilet is the one less used closer to the entrance of the campground. This Groupsite is advertised for 15-30 people. That is far too much than it can handle. We had 9 people &amp; 3 trucks &amp; that was as full as could be made comfortable. October is a gorgeous time in this area. Highly recommend! Just be aware that this Groupsite is best served for less people, although it looks to be the nicest of the sites, group or otherwise.

Ledge B Campground Groupsite B

This was the perfect spot to go off roading the next day. $20 + $2 registration is reasonable.  There is a credit card machine right at site to pay.  Beautiful campsite to wake up to.

Great spot to offroad from

If you’re driving Kane Creek, you can stay for days and not have to leave the canton if you stay in one of the Ledge sites. Great views, picnic tables and metal fire rings at the campsites. $20 per night, self-pay. No verizon service. Dumpsters. Road is washboarded in places but 2wd friendly up to campsite C.
