Winfield Camping Area

Cruising up the dirt road wasn't bad and easily maneuverable for smaller cars. Lots of spots just off the road - we had no trouble finding space on a Friday. I would recommend getting as far away from the road as possible though; there are cars heading up the road at all hours of the night either getting in late or trying to get on the trail early.

Road to campground is ok, our van had no issues. Camping sites along the road looked good, we camp at the end of the road at the open area. Not crowded at all on a weekday. Beautiful scenery all around.

This area was perfect for the Huron Peak overnight so that we could get an early start. Drive in was pretty easy and very scenic for fall colors.

Lots of sites scattered on the road up to the Winfield Historic Mining site.

When you turn left at and go over the creek there is a wide open space to just setup anywhere. Limited tree cover, so if you want more privacy from neighbors look for some of the sites along the road. This area did have an outhouse so if the super primitive camping is not your style this is great.
