Westport Union Landing State Beach — Westport-Union Landing State Beach
About
State Park
Westport Union-Landing State Beach covers over 3 miles of rugged and scenic coastline, with 86 campsites available in three campgrounds on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The magnificent vistas, sunsets and tree-covered mountains in the background provide an inspiring backdrop to the park and challenges to both amateur and professional photographers.
The park was named for two early day communities. Westport, a sawmill town, is still in existence and Union Landing now consists of only a few buildings. Both of these settlements were famous for supplying lumber and railroad ties, and Tan Oak bark to the schooners which anchored offshore. The schooners were loaded with forest products by means of intricate cable tramways and chutes from the bluffs.

Great For A Quick Visit
This is a rare first come, first serve public campground in the Fort Bragg/Mendocino area. No water and pit toilets are offset by wide open ocean views.
Paradise cliff camping
My favorite camping spot to date. They keep it very well maintained and the rangers won’t hastle you but trust me, it’s good to pay your dues. They’re out there picking up y’all’s trash and the faucets are helpful to clean dishes! Everyone was super chill and friendly. You get PREMIUM beach access and it feels like a private heaven to watch to the sunset, wake up to waves, and cook under the cliff side stars. A dream, so pay the fee! You’ll never find better at a five star hotel!

Amazing paid campground on a cliff on the pacific
Easy access right off the highway. Not packed at all on a Saturday since it was raining all weekend and very windy. Incredible views and nice people. There was also a bathroom. A lot of spots but only two other groups there
