Camping and ORVing
Great place to camp and ride off road vehicles. Bears a possibility. Nice RV spaces and plenty of restrooms. Water well available.
Unexpected but pleasant
So the story is I came up this side of Rainier on Labor Day weekend hoping to score a spot at Mowich Lake Campground,(yeah, no). After the looong verrryyy bumpy drive up the road I luckily ran into the ranger at the entrance where the self ticketing is and he suggested checking out Evans creek for a FF spot for the night which was 10 minutes back down the way I came. You go past the initial parking lot and stay right at the fork. Very nice helpful people around that had been going to this spot for years for the off-roading activities. I did make friends with another couple that was there to hike rainier like me. I was told the spots on the right side of the road are safer since people tend to drive a little fast and the ones on the left are more exposed. Ranger told me I could use whatever was “dead and down” for firewood which was perfect. It’s about a half hour to Tolmie Peak trailhead up the hill which was what I hiked the next morning. (At least it’s was for me, trying not to blow up my Corolla on the very rough road ) No service from about 10 minutes up the road.
Great place to play with your toys.
Nice clean park. You get there on a good gravel road. I stayed there with a 27 ft motor home towing my Jeep. It can get a little noisy from the ORV Riggs, but that is what the majority are there for. Bring your toys and join the fun. Great trails for all levels of off road people.
