Quiet campground perfect for exploring the spectacular Canyon Rims Recreation Area. Individual sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. One group site, Windwhistle Group Site, is available for reservation through Recreation.gov. Located 38 miles southwest of Moab, the campground is nestled against the smooth sandstone of Roan Bailey Mesa. At approximately 6,000 feet in elevation, it is somewhat cooler than Moab in the summer. A one-mile nature trail starts in the campground. Nighttime brings excellent star gazing opportunities. Windwhistle is secluded beautiful

Nice secluded BLM CG. 16 sites, all FCFS no reserved. Water and host in season. Cell fair depending on camp, vault toilets, tables, fire-rings. No RV dump. Dumpster for trash. The road from hwy 191 is 6 mi and paved. This is not an OHV area so the OHV trailer types are absent. Views out at Needles Overlook are stunning and are about 20 mi pavement past the CG.

Windwhistle in Canyonlands

Convenient small campground on the way into Needles Overlook (6 miles from main highway 191). Close to road but quiet at night. 15 sites total. Clean bathrooms. Intermittent Verizon 1 bar service (meaning don't count on it).

The little nature trail is only .5 miles but you get up close to the rock formations and it has a lot of vegetation ID. Nice amenity.
