About
Located just a short drive from Bryson City in Western North Carolina, Turkey Creek Campground is the perfect staging ground for all your Smoky Mountain adventures. Our quiet, family-friendly campground is located just minutes from the Tsali Mountain Bike Trails, the Nantahala River and Outdoor Center, and the Appalachian Trail. The camp is located just steps from Fontana Lake where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, paddle-boarding or just leisurely enjoying the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. When the sun goes down, the fireflies come alive and are only outshined by the beautiful night sky views.
Our campground features generous and well-groomed tent pads, 20/30 and 50 amp power connections, freshwater access at every site, picnic tables and fire rings. If you’re traveling in a van, RV or pulling a trailer, we have options for all our guests. Or if you want to leave that all behind, you can rent one of our vintage trailers! Our bathhouse and laundry facilities are impeccable and we have an elevated deck area that overlooks the camp and is perfect for gatherings or just sitting in a rocking chair enjoying a good book. If you really must be productive or keep yourself connected to the outside world, we have fast, reliable high-speed WiFi available throughout the camp.

Cute off the beaten path, at a good price
Smaller camp grounds, that best suited for smaller campers, or tent camping. The driveway coming into the campground is steep, so drive slow, and I would highly recommend showing up before dark, not an entrance I would want to make after dark. They have affordable firewood and ice on site, free coffee in the office, and Wi-Fi. Currently I’m using the Wi-Fi from my spot, since cellular service in this area isn’t reliable. Make sure you download a google map “offline mode” map of the area before coming, since service is limited for ATT and Verizon. If your doing tent camping, they made these elevated large squares out of crushed gravel to put your tent on, that are perfectly level, and with the gravel, should stay dry in event of rain. Some of the spots have “river” access, I would call it more of a small creek, but still nice. All the gravel roads seem to be in great condition. Washer and dryers are available, and showers and bathrooms are way better than average.

Well kept campground near outdoor activities
The wooded property is clean and neatly trimmed with new tent pads of crushed stone. Campsite is less than a 15 minute drive from the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the AppalachianTrail, and even closer to Lake Fontina. Nearby activities include white water rafting, hiking, kayaking and canoeing. There is firewood onsite for $5.00 per bundle and ice for $3.00 per bag. They provide a fire pit, picnic table, water and electric hookups, but not sewer. Also, there are no grills provided, so plan accordingly. Also, the comfort station (bathroom, showers, and laundry) is at the top of a very steep hill, making middle-of-the-night bathroom trips difficult. But all the facilities are impeccably clean, well stocked and well-maintained, and provide benches and hooks for belongings while showering.
It was easy to book and the staff is friendly and helpful. They even switched us to a larger pad to accommodate our large cabin tent. Office hours were 8-12 and 3-6, so again, plan accordingly. We went the first week in June to view the synchronous fireflies. We enjoyed a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay with them again.
Thank you so much for the review and kind words. Please come back again soon!
Peaceful ground, thoughtful hosts
10/10; would camp here again. The grounds are immaculate, bundles of firewood & bags of ice are available for a reasonable price, WiFi can be had on the deck at the office, the bathrooms come with great showers, and there’s a laundry room too!
Thank you so much for the great review. Please come back again soon!
