<strong>Platte River Campground will be closed for the month of May 2024</strong> while it undergoes pavement preservation. As a result, <strong>reservations will not be released for the month of May 2024.</strong> Availability will continue to be released on a 6-month rolling basis from June 1 through October 15, 2024. If the project is completed ahead of schedule, the campground will reopen, and sites will be released for booking on recreation.gov. Updates can be found at: <a href="http://www.nps.gov/slbe/planyourvisit/conditions.htm" rel="nofollow">www.nps.gov/slbe/planyourvisit/conditions.htm</a>

The Ironman Michigan triathlon will be taking place <strong>Sunday, September 15, 2024.</strong> The bike course takes place on M-22 and will have significant impact on local traffic. M-22 will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. between the City of Frankfort and Esch Road. <ul> <li><strong>To avoid road closures, arriving campers should not arrive before the scheduled check-in time of 2 p.m.</strong></li> <li><strong>To avoid road closures, departing campers should exit by 8:30 a.m. via Deadstream Road, Platte Road, or M-22 northbound. Southbound M-22 will be closed.</strong></li> </ul>

Beautiful spot, excellent facilities and staff.

Beautiful campground with large well treed cites for around $24 with no power. Free showers and dish washing facilities. Amazing rangers with tons of info! Also worth checking out the fish hatchery on the platte.

From the east (Traverse City): Take State Highway M-72 west to Empire. Turn south on State Highway M-22. Proceed 10 miles 16 km) (and turn right on Lake Michigan Road. Follow the signs to Platte River Campground.From the south (US-31/M-115): At the junction of U.S. Route 31 and M-115, continue north for seven miles (11 km). Turn left on Platte Road.
