It's ok
It's $10 a night during hunting season there is no limit on stay. After it's 14 days. Hog pen is nice when it's empty but fills up fast on the weekends. Ocean pond is near by they have hook ups and range from $12 to $30 a night depending on how you camp. They also have free water there which is a few miles from hog pen. There is a beach and it's 24$ a year and they have shower houses or $5 a day. That is close by to use. Near by lake city so Walmart and that is about 20 mins away. If you go the opposite way you will see flashing lights and there is a small dinner and gas station that doesn't sell gas there. CBD hhg and all those products sold there as well.
Peace and quiet
Stopped here on our way up north. We have a small teardrop trailer and ready for boondocking.
It was a little confusing going in at the National Forest... there's no signs.. but we kept on driving and found the spots right on the lake. Beautiful! Our spot had a picnic table and an informal fire pit area. There is enough trees around for shade, also a bear-proof garbage disposal and clean toilets. And the view over the lake... stunning!
We thoroughly enjoyed our one-night stay there. Only one drawback, we were there when all the stinging green-headed flies were out. Man, can they be pesky! Nature....
I would gladly recommend this camping ground if you like to camp in nature.
One additional perk... it's close to major roads, so the cell service was great!
Another great stay
Came back to stay at this spot while traveling back up north. Arrived around 5pm on a Friday and there were 2 spots left ($10/night). With all of the rain lately, it’s getting pretty muddy back there but didn’t keep us from staying. Bathrooms are still clean but now they have a lot of drain flies. Definitely keeping this spot on my list for future travels!
