Our go-to spot
This has been our go-to spot for 10 years now. We're started in a tent, moved to a pop-up, and now we're in a pull behind travel-trailer. It's gotten more crowded since they renovated, so may branch out and look elsewhere, but it's still a great spot.
Beautiful campground and beach
The drive into this place was beautiful. Didn’t feel like you just drove through Canton ( coming from the north) 1st impression was - wow it’s newly updated and a beautiful well maintained campground. After check in we noticed the sites were very small . With only a 29’ camper our truck barely fit perpendicular off the road . If we d of parked along side camper we’d have no lot. Then I notice cigarette butts all over . Beat down and old , black n mild plastic tips , bottle caps etc all in the dirt all over site. You can tell there was a build up over the summer . We picked an area on the edge of Area 3 with woods behind us and between Area 4. A little inlet of lake poked up in there . Thinking the kids could explore and catch critters there . Looked like a bomb went off of trash in there . That’s mainly why I give this park 3 stars. Because I taught my kids to never leave evidence of our existence and how shameful it was to litter they police called the entire tree line . Filled up 2 trash bags. Ages 8 and 4. Our table wobbled pretty good and should’ve been burned. The beach was awesome... sandy all the way out. Concession stand is nice by beach too. Bike or walk on paved trails with some good grade changes . Ranger patrolled very regularly and was very serious about his job lol almost like he was looking for action! Remember to put alcohol in cups 😏 Overall we had fun there and made best of it . Dump station was very nice but lacked the ability to hook hose to side of camper to flush tank. Many sites here are new and amidst a concrete jungle . Pads w small decorative newly planted plants. Full sun and packed closely together. Reminded me of a subdivision haha if you like that style of camping you ll love it . We did search out best spots here and they’re at the tip of the peninsula. Largest lots I saw AND there right on the water!!
