Nice place for a weekend getaway
Small campsites depending on the one you get, but they are spaced out from each other unlike other sites in the area. Also has a trail to a small beach to relax by.
Bring your kayak or paddle board
There are two loops to this campground- one is on the lake and the other is a bit further up the road. We stayed at the "additional sites " loop and it was walkable to the lake, even with kids.
There is not a beach here, but a boat launch. Lots kayaks and paddle boards.
There are a few bear boxes throughout the campground and a toilet.
NO TRASH. You must pack out your trash so be prepared.
Site vary in size and terrain. Our site had a rock fire ring. Others had a metal fire pits. There are no tables.
It was a little primitive, but if that's what your looking for this is the place.
This campground is first come for spots, no reservations and it's free so there is definitely higher demand. We arrived on a Thursday and got the last available spot. Several cars later in the day circled around looking for spots.
There were also a few spots "occupied" with a trailer and chairs, but no one at the site during the 2 days we were there. I suspect they claimed spots in anticipation of the weekend. Not cool if you ask me, but I guess that is to be expected in a remote campground with no supervision.
Lots of mosquitos morning and evening.
Two large bucks walked through in the morning, so be aware of wildlife.

Pretty Spot
This is a free campsite, we stayed on the lake loop, There is water available. Very busy place. One group of people would leave and there would be someone in the site within an hour or two. There is a loop a little before the lake which is wooded. We were there for July 4 weekend and were told to be ready for an amazing display of fireworks and they were right! Lasted about 2 hours - private fireworks but were beautiful. Husband kayaked and larger boats were in the water. For being as busy as it was the nights were quiet.
