About
For the camper who enjoys simple amenities surrounded by acres of woodland, fields, and streams, Maple Hill Campsites is located in Starksboro, Vermont, in the rural countryside of New England.
Our History
Maple Hill Campsites was opened in the summer of 1964 by Mildred M. Osmun and her husand John H. Osmun. We remain a family owned and operated campsite, run and cared for by Mildred and John's daughter, Martha and her own family. Sites and Amenities
Our campsites are very private, with approximately 50' between each of them, with a choice between wooded sites and sites in the open field. Most wooded sites have access to Shadow Brook, a small brook that runs alongside our campground. Each campsite boasts its own fire pit and picnic table. The sites are primarily for tent camping, with a few sites that include limited electrical hook up of up to 20 amps. These sites can fit pop-ups or other small campers.
The campsites include a bath house with running water and hot showers. Pet Policy
Pets with proof of current vaccinations and use of flea and tick deterrent are welcome when properly leashed, cared for and cleaned up after. Firewood
We keep firewood here for purchase. It is dangerous to move firewood between states as it can harbor insects and diseases harmful to our forests.

Reservation Info
Reservations are accepted with payment of the first night's cost, as a reservation fee. Reservation fees are refundable with two weeks notice and minus a $5 handling fee.
Please note, on certain holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and possibly other event weekends, a two day minimum stay will be required to reserve.
Base rates are for up to two adults and two children, after which we typically charge extra per adult or child for up to six people per site.
Extra adults and children for weekly, monthly, and seasonal campers can be calculated as needed.
Maple Hill reserves the right to make changes to site assignments based on the needs of all campers and staff. Sites may also be reassigned in the event of natural conditions.

Our electric is limited to 20 amps, please check your vehicle's (or electronic device's) needs. PayPal
We do not have the ability to accept credit cards in person, but we can accept them through PayPal!
If you would like to use PayPal for your reservation fee, let us know when you make your reservation and we will send you an invoice via email. If you would like to use PayPal for your full stay's cost, there is a 3% fee.

This is a very small campground on a private farm, and while the setting is beautiful, there aren’t many amenities. We knew that going in, and we weren’t expecting the Taj Mahal. However, I was still a little taken aback by some of the facilities. Bath house was, um, quite primitive. It is solar-powered, but situated in a pretty wooded area. Was very dim inside, even when we visited during the middle of the day. There were 2 toilet stalls with plywood doors, one shower stall, and one small sink (ran out of hand soap halfway through our stay, and owner added some water to make it last a bit longer). Definitely brought me back to my days of summer camp :) While quite buggy, and not very clean overall, everything was in working order, and we were fine using it during our stay. There is a small, cute wooden play set near the bath house that could also use some TLC (one swing broken, huge wasp nest under slide). That all said, you’d be hard-pressed to find a campground in a more beautiful, peaceful, quintessentially Vermont setting.
We stayed in site #2 - one of two sites with electric. The site was very large, grassy, and well-shaded, with beautiful wildflowers along the perimeter, and a babbling brook running along one side. However, it was definitely not geared toward RVs. Took quite a bit of finagling to back in, and the electric box was on the “wrong” side, so we had our door facing the outer perimeter of the site, and had to walk around the camper to get to the picnic table, fire, etc. Was also quite a hike to the bath house, but we knew that going in. That all said, it was a beautiful, peaceful, spacious site, and we were able to make it work. Saw a few larger sites in the field section, which would have been easier to back into, but none of them had shade nor electric. We knew the trade-offs we were making in order to have those things when booking, and were pleased with our site choice overall.
Not much to do in the immediate vicinity. The town of Bristol is about a 10-minute drive, with some cute shops and other modern conveniences. Waterbury is about an hour’s drive north, where you’ll find Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Ben & Jerry’s, etc.
Overall, this is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a nice, quiet, rustic camping experience in a gorgeous setting. Definitely geared more toward tent campers, but you could definitely make it work with a smaller RV.
