Down the road apiece......

Fenton Land Between The Lakes (LBL) Lake Access is a mouth full. In almost the middle of LBL directly off Ky Rt68/80 this little area has A LOT to do.

First to the right, the Boatramp and large parking area which is busy all the time. You can launch your boat, kayak, etc. You can fish. You can sit and enjoy the lake ( not on the boat ramp please ;)

There is a pit toilet nearby which is right next to the bike/hike trail (paved through here) You can take the bike trail toward the bridge and Kenlake State Park or into LBL. If you decide on into LBL the paved turns into dirt track and starts up a pretty good incline. A mile in we weren't to the top yet. Very well maintained dirt track, gravel mix.

To the left is a large field and pavilion area good for large group gatherings. There is a dumpster and pit toilet at this end too.

There is a small campground that runs along the back hillside into the woods, parallel the bike trail. Electric is available, no frills camping and at the very end are two group sites with no electric(watch for flooding).

Lake Access Only, not the Campground

Fenton Campground and Lake access are in the same general location, but are actually separate. The ramp, floating dock and dike that allows access to Kentucky Lake is a favorite among locals, as it puts you about mid lake (N-S), and Kentucky Lake has some of the cleanest waters and the largest fish of any place. This area is always busy, 24/7, pretty much year round. There is a vault toilet, the campground is just east a bit, there is plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. The new Fenton bridge is a four lane bridge, with a walking/bike path that is a start/end point for the Hardwoods Trail, which goes east-west across Land Between the Lakes.

Fenton is an area rich in history

The campground at Fenton Lake Access (it's Fenton, Lake Access, not Fenton Lake, Access!) is layed out in a line along a hillside, with a dry creek on the immediate north side. This creek can become a rushing waterway during heavy rain or flash flooding, so don't be fooled by it being dry. The area if very functional, and used to be a grand gathering place back in the days of Land Between the Lakes being the Golden Pond, KY area. There is a pavillion suitable for large groups, as a Family reunion was gathering up as I arrived, and is reservable through the Park system for little or no fee. There is also a bike trail, which feeds into the Hardwoods Trail, the main east-west trail that goes through LBL for hiking and biking. Off to the West is the actual ramp, floating dock and dike for shoreline fishing.
