Cherokee National Forest

Overview

Katy Branch, a former Youth Conservation Corp Camp, is a private outdoor pavilion surrounded by beautiful Tennessee woodlands in the Cherokee National Forest.

Recreation

Forested land is available for hiking and exploration and an open area is available for group activities.

Facilities

Rental facilities include an open pavilion with fireplace and three large picnic tables. The pavilion is attached to a building that contains two accessible restrooms and a "kitchen" area with stainless steel sink, microwave and refrigerator. A large outdoor charcoal grill and five folding tables and 80 folding chairs are also available with the rental. The pavilion is located about .5 miles on a gravel road, closed to the public.

Natural Features

Katy Branch is located in open woodland. A more heavily forested area and an open area, part of which is used for parking, is adjacent to the pavilion area.

Nearby Attractions

Katy Branch is located about half-way between the towns of Greeneville and Erwin. Though it is not located on the Nolichucky River, the river is only about .5 miles away.

great campground, better hiking!

Came to stay at this campground because we wanted to do some hiking nearby that we haven't done in FOREVER! We really loved this campground, and was surprised to find that it was super busy when we were there. People love this place, especially in the summer time. I also think people had the same thing in mind that we did, because the hiking trails were super busy too! The campground was fairly big, not sure how many campsites there were but seemed to be about 25ish. The restroom was fairly clean, and there was a water spigot as well which was nice. We brought plenty of water because we knew we would be hiking, but nice to know that you could use that if you ran out of water. The campground was easy to locate, and the road leading to the campground was in great shape. I read some reviews online that the road was super bumpy, but didn't seem to notice that. We did have a truck, though so maybe that's why. There is a picnic table and fire ring within the campsite which was nice. We used the fire ring during the evenings to make smores! Bring your own firewood :) We had to let some people borrow ours that we brought. Awesome hiking nearby, definitely put that on your to do list!

KOA pigeon forge

Beautiful, scenic, private plot for campsite complete with a fire pit. Very close to many trails. Clean showers and bathrooms. Loved it.
