Grand Teton National Park

The Gros Ventre Wilderness is a gem in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The Wilderness provides critical habitat for many species of wildlife, hosts the headwaters of multiple Wild and Scenic Rivers and offers miles and miles of trails to wander for years via horseback or foot. In addition, the Gros Ventre Wilderness is famous for it's incredible geological features, from alpine peaks to red, purple and yellow rocky slopes, the area is home to the well-known Gros Ventre Slide National Geological Site as well as the more recently formed Crystal Slide and many others. For information on specific activities such as hiking and horseback riding, see the list of "Activities" below, which provides links to detailed trail information. The Gros Ventre Wilderness has some specific requirements in regards to group size and permits may be required. Make sure to check our permits section for this information. In addition, bear food storage is required throughout the north zone of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, which includes the Gros Ventre Wilderness. For all things Wilderness including broader information about the Gros Ventre Wilderness, check out www.wilderness.net.

Beautiful! 4x4 required!

This place was great! We slid down the muddy road into our campsite, and almost right over the edge!

The next morning we spent two hours getting our truck back up (barely) in the middle of a thunderstorm adding more mud. It rains all the time out here

If I had a 4x4 I’d be back, but otherwise avoid this one.

Two Nights in Tetons

Arrived late with our 28’ travel trailer, they had our name on the late check in list with instructions our site, 58 was pretty level front to back a little off side to side. Most sites look level except a few look really pitched front to back. Site 83 or 85. Restrooms had water. No showers. Old but clean. We didn’t have any hookups and didn’t fill with water on our way in but managed to dump in 5 gallons of water from the potable water at the restroom to get by. Made a giant breakfast while it rained and I’m sure every bear within 20 miles was drooling. We’re going to go find moose today and get up to the grand view point. Weather is hovering in 30-50 range.
