Features
Average dispersed camping, at best
There are several camping spots immediately after you turn off of the main highway that are down by the river. The area had many people already camping there, so we drove about 2 miles up the rough gravel road. We decided to take the first spot we saw, since we were only going to be there for about 12 hours. The site was open and exposed. Nothing special, but better than being right next to a bunch of other people.
Good place to stay a night
Update for others looking at this site wondering if COVID restrictions are up. They are. No more rocks blocking paths. Many people camping/ fishing down here. I’m bike camping and met other bike tourers on route here. The trans America trail goes through route 40 here. There are some clearly full timers who are living here. Relatively quiet. A nice river near by to to swim in.
Multiple Dispersed Spots Along the Road
Head up CR 50 (Beaver Creek Rd) and you will find many dispersed sites along the road. Some better than others. Some along the creek, some above it.
The road is in great shape and you should have no problems making your way up. Don't be afraid to keep going.
It's nice to have the Hot Springs at the bottom of the road for a respite from the boondocking.
Leave no trace.
