Chena River Wayside

This campground is closed for at least the 2021 season

Love, love this campground! My family and I camp here every year and its always so much fun. Between the river, grassy areas, playground, day use pavilions, little walking trails (sometimes with raspberries depending on the season) and stores nearby, this campground is convenient for families. You can find a barber, banks, grocery stores, restaurants, a bars, weed stores all within walking distance of the camping area. The campground is friendly and virtually pretty safe as Fairbanks is a great community so there has never been any problems with theft. 

I worked at a restaurant in close proximity and this was a great medium during the summer. I had to transport my kiddos to summer camps at the University and this was 5 minutes away! Hope to see it reopen so we can spend some time here again!

This campground is perfect for those who want to experience camping but don’t want to be in some super remote area. It’s located right on the chena river, which is great for canoeing, kayaking, and more, and is right in Fairbanks.
