    Visit Cedar Hill State Park for the day or weekend. Bring your family to hike, bike, picnic, camp, geocache and nature watch. The park sits on the shore of Joe Pool Lake, so you can also swim, fish, and boat or paddle.

    Camp at one of 350 developed campsites, all near restrooms with hot showers. All sites have water and electricity; 150 have sewer hookups, too. Several sites are ADA-accessible. Or hike to a primitive campsite, if trails are open.

    McCown Valley is located on Whitney Lake on the main channel of the Brazos River in Central Texas. Over two million people visit Whitney Lake each year to enjoy the plethora of recreational activities and scenic beauty the lake provides.

    Recreation

    McCown Valley offers five miles of trails in its equestrian park. Visitors enjoy riding their horses through open pastures and wooded areas near the lake. Boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking are popular activities at Whitney Lake. Anglers can fish for a variety of bass, crappie and catfish with a state fishing license.

    This year-round campground offers a variety of sites to suit all kinds of campers, including 39 equestrian sites, 48 family sites, five sleeping shelters, and a day-use picnic shelter, all with electric and/or water hookups. 13 primitive tent sites are also available. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station. A boat ramp, playground and trails are also on-site.

    The park is situated on the lakeshore among gently rolling hills covered with cedar, Live oak and Post oak. Deer and wild turkeys roam the area.

    Overview

    Liberty Hill Park is located on the southern shore of Navarro Mills Lake in central Texas. Visitors can enjoy a view of the lake from the facility and participate in popular outdoor actives like camping, boating, fishing and picnicking. The lake area provides the perfect setting to get away from it all, especially for city-dwellers from the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

    Recreation

    Birdwatching is a favorite year-round pastime for lake guests. Many species of songbirds, hawks, great blue herons, ducks, geese, other shorebirds and even an occasional bald eagle visit the area. Fishing is also popular at Navarro Mills, and the lake holds the current state record for white crappie. Fishermen come from near and far to sample some of the best crappie fishing anywhere. 2 multi-lane boat ramps, a fishing pier, and marina are available within Liberty Hill Park. There are also healthy populations of channel and yellow catfish, and hefty hybrid stripers are often caught below the dam when water is being released. Swimming is available at the designated swim beach from April 1- September 30 for day users and year round for registered campers. No lifeguard on duty and swimming is at your own risk. Life Jackets are available to borrow from the gatehouse.

    Liberty Hill has just over 100 campsites, most of which have electric and water hookups and several have sewer hookups. Five sites have screened in shelters that include sinks. A marina, two multi-lane boat ramps, fishing pier, swim beach, playground, group shelter and dump stations are provided within the facility.

    Natural Features

    Liberty Hill is also a favorite viewing area for wildflowers. The brilliant array of native flowers draws visitors from all over to the lake area during the spring. Bluebonnets, paintbrushes and a myriad of other native plants transform the often-bleak winter landscape into an incredible palette of colors. A wide variety of habitat provides a home and abundant food supply to diverse wildlife. Visitors might stumble across squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, white-tailed deer, raccoon or armadillo.

    The year-round campground at Airport Park is perfectly located between Waco Lake and the Waco Airport. Campers can look south and view the pristine waters of the lake, or look north and watch airplanes take off and land.

    Recreation

    The main lake shoreline has a large amount of submerged timber, which typically holds fish year-round. Anglers will find plenty of catfish, crappie, large and smallmouth bass as well as sunfish. A boat ramp and dock help visitors enjoy the lake.

    Airport Park has 46 sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, and 22 of these also have sewer hookups. There are 8 screen shelters with electrical outlets and water. Fourteen tent-only campsites without electric are also available. A group camping shelter is available for reservation, and comes with electric, sewer and water hookups. It is equipped with a six-foot grill, 12-foot serving bar, and pavillion with picnic tables. There are eight campsites with electric and water hookups, and six of these have sewer hookups. The group camping area fits about 80 guests.

    Natural Features

    Airport Park is on the northern banks of Waco Lake, near the dam. The lake is primarily fed by the Bosque River, which runs for 115 miles through central Texas.

    Cedron Creek Campground is located on Whitney Lake on the main channel of the Brazos River in Central Texas. The majority of campsites in Cedron Creek are 30 amp electric hook ups with water and 10 sites have water and 50 amp electric hook ups. Each site has a stand up BBQ cooker or a ground cooker/fire ring. The park also has 3 restrooms, showers, horseshoe pits, a trailer dump station, boat ramp and a playground.

    Boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking are popular activities at Whitney Lake. Anglers can fish for a variety of bass, crappie and catfish.

    Facilities

    The campground offers 57 sites which all have either 30 or 50 amp electric and water. There is a group camp area located near the water and is within 100 yards of a large restroom with showers. The pavilion has a capacity of approximately 100 people and contains eight (8), eight foot tables, electricity, lights, a large (3' X 3') grill and eight campsites.
