State Park review

Lake Brownwood area is full of trees, nice lake for boating, fishing and jet skis. The state park sits on a pretty cove of the lake. Sites 50,51 offer privacy and are close the bathroom/showers....not too close. You can see the water, but aren’t lakefront. Typical state park amenities. Sites have…

Dino tracks along the Pauluxy River

We've enjoyed exploring DVSP for several years and have had many great overnight camps. The Pauluxy River runs through the middle of the park and you can find awesome dinosaur tracks along the shallow edge of the river. The camping spots are well maintained and have waking trails that connect the…

Awesome family camping

We loved Dinosaur Valley. Tons of great hiking for young kids to enjoy, our family especially loved exploring the river and finding the dino tracks.

We stayed in a campsite directly next to the bathroom, so we saw a lot of people walking through, but it was quiet at night. The showers and men's…

Epic beach camping

Wow, such an amazing camping experience! We boondocked with our 36ft motorhome right on the beach.

$12 to get in and stay as much as you’d like. Busy on weekends but very quiet during the week.

They allow driving on the beach here from access #5 and north of it. Watch the tides, best to get in…

Gorgeous CCC Cabins & Nice Campground

The remarkable area of this park lies not in it's campground loop. The loop is pretty, lovely even, and it looks like a lot of other campgrounds on a beautiful lake. But take a walk along the lakeshore trail and see the cabins, dance hall, and steps constructed by the CCC and you'll be transported…

  • Rainy morning at the lake.
  • Lots of spots available in January mid-week.
  • Wish the weather had been better, but this place is probably an oasis in the summertime!

Perfect Family Weekend

We have been renting cabins here for years. Each cabin is rustic and unique. There are tons of easy trails and shore access. It has great fishing areas, bridges, and stone structures to explore as well.

The WORST place you could plan to camp ... ever

This camp ground was atrocious and we left several days early. Site#2 had a profound odor of sewage coming from the restroom. The restrooms were dirty and several faucets were broken and leaking. Flies were swarming everywhere from trashcans and trach bins that did not have properly fitting lids.…

Family time

Been here a few times and absolutely love it. Kids like it as well. Plenty of hiking trails and some wading water running through the place.

It Was Great then but now.....

I spent one night here two years ago and loved it! VEry quiet, few campers and an easy walk into downtown Hico. Last week end, 11-07-2020 we passed through Hico and drove through the park and I was dismayed to see that all of the RV sites were occupied by permenant residents with solid connections…

Pull through and back-in spots

This place has pull through and back in spots and there is a map at the entrance showing which are which. There was no public restroom or shower here but there are hookups. There is a really nice playground here. This would be a good place if your just looking for a place to sleep for the night but…

Super clean and really well manicured

Beautiful rv park. Not the kind of place you would want to stay if you’re looking to get away from it all as it’s right in town, but super convenient if your looking for a place to stop for a night or two in a park that’s safe and well maintained. Has hook ups and a water house.

Great park

This is one of the better parks we have been to. Lots of trees and shades. Well maintained. Range of easy trails that are kid friendly. Kids loved seeing the tracks, easy access for the kids. Campground clean and comfortable.

Lake Brownwood State Park. We had a great time over here, not the biggest park but still very enjoyable we rode our bikes a lot there are a 3 miles bicycles, trail plus a hiking trail, and a few small trails around the park. The RV sites are not very private but still, it was a good time, because…
