Campgrounds

Nightly rates vary based on date and availability. Applicable taxes and fees applied at checkout. The $5 reservation fee per site is non-refundable.

The campground at Old Stone Fort State Historic Park was upgraded and re-opened in Fall 2020. Recent improvements include the construction of a bathhouse and electric improvements.

There are 50 campsites with water and electrical hookups, grills, picnic tables and hard-surface pads that can accommodate a unit up to 50 feet in length. A dump station is open year-round. One of the two restroom facilities includes showers. However, that building is not open during the off-season, so showers are not available in December, January, and February. Firewood can be purchased at the park. The stay limit is two weeks.

Campsites are heavily wooded with separation between the sites. Camping is equally popular by both RV’s and tents/pop-ups. While the campground has a remote feel, it is actually within 10 minutes of a variety of restaurants. Also, a Manchester public pool is within one mile of the campground.

Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park

We almost had the campground to ourselves only one other camper came in close to us. It was so quiet and woodsy. We had deer in our site everyday. We were in site #22 the best site was #21. The drive across the little bridge into the campground is neat going over the river. We had water &amp; electric there is a dump station onsite.  We had a paved drive that was about 4" high so when you came down you stairs it was a drop off. It was good to have if it rained a lot but a pain to go in &amp; out the camper. 

  

The museum was neat there's a lot of History there. The campground has a lot of nice hikes in it. 

  

Jiffy Burger is around the corner by far the best burger &amp; fires I ever had, It's loaded with cool antiques, has great service and nice people eating in there. The American Pickers was in there before we were there the owner had a lot of good antiques at his home up the road. 

  

Jack Daniel's Distillery is close buy &amp; so worth doing the tour and tasting. Jack did a lot for the people that worked for him &amp; the town. Near the Jack Daniel's distillery is Lynchburg winery not bad. George Dickel Distillery is close too.

  

We went antiquing &amp; found the most amazing place called Shelton Lane Antiques. This place is like a little village with a gas station, general store, and all kinds of little buildings. I have never seen such nice antiques. We thought where the heck is this place maybe we passed it or something it's out in the middle of nowhere. 

  

We went kayaking on Fire lake small winding roads really a cool drive. Pretty lake with some islands &amp; inlets.  Nice day on the water.

Ok park close to things to do

This is a pretty cool place if you like history and waterfalls. It isn't very big and the hike around the stone fort isn't very long but it is interesting and the waterfall is very pretty. The campground itself is nice with water and electric hook ups. The bath house  was very clean. You are right in Manchester so supplies are convenient. Buy your firewood before you arrive because they don't sell it. 

Pretty cool!

Always quiet and perfect for that weekend getaway.  Campground is great, one of the only ones I've seen with Granite sinks in the bathroom!  Right off the Duck River, you can drop in your kayak, fish or go for many hikes in the old stone park and explore the old stone water mill. Multiple water attractions with falls, and trails th a t will take you right up next to them, or trails above that you can listen to the sounds of rushing water as you hike. Very family friendly if only for a day hike, weekend getaway,  or extended camping trip.

Great Weekend Getaway off Duck River

Small park not far off I24, south of Murfreesboro,Tn. This is a unique State Park worth the drive.

Duck River flows through the area with several waterfall breaks along its course. It's not hard to imagine why the Native Americans considered this area spiritually significant. Their history is written along the trail.

The camping area is not huge but well kept. Pick your site wisely though I noticed some sites sitting in water. There were bike riders, but you need to watch the traffic.

Golf course nearby and water sports up the road.

This was a really small campground. It has nice paved pad. The picnic table was located behind the camper. There is a cool bridge that is a single lane that you cross on to go over to the campground. Neat town. Great hiking with some beautiful water falls. This was a pleasant surprise on our trip to FL.

First stop on our way to FL

We love this place! It's close enough to a small town if you need to grab a few things. The sites are level and there are plenty of shade trees to go around. Very quiet at night also. The showers are SUPER clean!!

Super Shady (in the best way)

**Old Stone Fork State Park** in TN is my idea of good camping. It’s a good family campground too.

No big thrills and tourist attractions. You can”unplug” and pry your kids away from the electronics. Pre-historical sites and the river trail is very technical and scenic. You can stay at the top for an easy hike or crawl down to the river and follow the trail through the tree roots and rocks. There are informational plaques along the way and a small store/museum at the trailhead.

The campground has good shade and space between sites. The usual picnic table and fire ring. A few of the sites can become water logged if there’s a good downpour. Bike riding to explore the park is quite common so watch your speed when driving in.

We stayed here overnight and had a relaxing , quiet time after exploring the river area. It just has that old feel to it, like Duck River has been there forever and will be there long after us.

Seclusion and history 

Came as a tenter. It was awesome that they have the rocky pads because it rained our whole trip and we stayed dry. It was very quiet for us and our site faced the open woods behind us. Hiking was great and rangers were friendly! Definitely recommend.

Wooded and great hiking

My son Conner and I stayed at the Old Stone Fort Campground in Manchester, Tennessee on the night of Monday, July 8, 2019. We arrived at the park and were checked in at the museum entrance by the helpful and courteous staff. They really made us feel welcome. The campground setting is dense, lowland hardwood. The sites are very close together, so you will need to love your neighbor as yourself on holidays, or if you need solitude, you may need to go during the week or on non-holiday days. Each site had a water spigot, electrical hookups, an asphalt pad, a fire ring with grill, and a standalone grill. Some sites had a raised, gravel tent pad which would come in very handy on nights when rain’s in the forecast. The bathrooms were old, but they were clean, well stocked, and functioning. Recycling bins were also located near the well lit bathrooms. Trash was picked up in the morning from the campsite, and throughout the day and night rangers and park staff made their scheduled rounds for security. The campground is near the Old Stone Fort which is a stone wall constructed nearly 2,000 by the native people of the Tennessee Valley. Its sacredness is felt as you tour the many waterfalls that surround the campground and archaeological site. There are numerous swimming holes for kids and adults and a non-motorized boat launch near the campgrounds. There is a small museum on site and is free to the public. After the museum tour, you can walk the trails free of charge and see the ancient ruins. If you are going to the campground during the summer, you will need a good DEET based bug spray. For those traveling in RVs, you will need to call ahead and make sure your RV can make it across the one lane bridge that serves as the only entrance to the campground. In addition, it’s worth noting that the campground is near the small town of Manchester. You will hear an occasional siren, but other than that you will feel like you are a thousand miles away from town. I’d suggest driving through the campground and selecting a couple of possible campsites before registering. The three loops are well used, but we enjoyed staying on the main drive. Overall, this is a wonderful campground near a very fascinating archaeological site. The trails and waterfalls make this a great place to visit if only for a day.

Camping at Old Stone Fort

Very clean, quiet and peaceful. I felt like we had plenty of privacy. Bathrooms and showers were cleaner than walmart. Very well maintained. Hiking was amazing the trails very well doable and fun. Most of all the waterfalls and the crystal clear water was amazing, all our kids loved it and had a great experience.

These spots were roomy and well maintained.  The museum was very interesting, we learned several new things and our boys earned their Jr Ranger badges. The walk around the mounds were a bit long, however, it was so peaceful. We had several deer cross our path and many of the simply stopped to watch us. We got several pictures of them. The rangers told us that at the end of this season they will be building new shower facilities. We plan on putting this park on our list of future stops!

Great camp ground!

So let’s start off by saying there is no camping! Not sure why but it’s blocked off. Which is fine cause we just went to visit. They have great plaque that explain everything about the area. Nice trails, beautiful sights and some really cool history. Nice little walk/hike. Also they have a small museum and store but I think was not open due to Covid. 

Really neat place!

Drove over to this park today to check out some hiking trails. The trials were beautiful and full of information. The river, falls, and trails were beautiful for a short little hike.

I was very sad to see the campground was closed. The bridge that leads to the campground was blocked by concrete barriers with “Coffee County TDOT” written on them. I wish I had gotten a picture but didn’t think about it at the time. 

Lots of great history!

This campground is great! They remodeled it last year and updated the campground. The campground itself borders the duck river and is absolutely stunning. The hiking trails are well maintained so hiking to the three waterfall's inside the park is a mild hike. All the park rangers we encountered were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this state park and will be returning in the near future.

Very well maintained

Very happy with our stay. Site 21 backed up the Little Duck River. Sites are very spacious with ample room between sites. Our site was very level for the camper. Updated bathrooms! The Ranger was very attentive. 

Expectations Exceeded

Old Stone Fort has nice sites with concrete picnic tables. Some of the sites on the lower end flood so caution is required when reserving a campsite. There is electrical hookups (30 &amp; 50)as well as water. The park is just down the street.

State park with a view!!!!

We stayed a night here while passing through. This is a very nice little campground with water, electric, charcoal grill, and fire ring on site. Dump station near the office. Restrooms were modern and clean. Campground was peaceful and not at all crowded. Ranger was friendly. We had to switch sites, we had booked site 12 which was flooded but the ranger allowed us to change to site 13 with zero fuss.


Great spot with easy access to I-24

Several of the TV sites had a lot of standing water on them during our stay. Our site was virtually unusable as a result, no practical way to have a fire or even sit and hang out.

Kind of a swamp when we stayed.

We stayed two nights and wanted to stay longer, the sites are large and the hiking is incredible! Our sits overlooks the river, Will definitely be back!

Beautiful Campground 

The park was beautiful. 
Very quiet
The public showers and restroom are very nice.
The museum is okay, but the waterfalls and scenery make up for it.  The only downside is the campsites are kinda close together.  We stayed at campsite 19th it was pretty dry after a good rain, but some of the campsites were under water.

Stayed for 2 nights during the same week. Check in was online the first time and went to the check in office the second time where they sell firewood also. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. The camp sites are a little close but the area they are in are secluded. Hike to waterfall and swim in the river! Seems new and well maintained!
