Okay ONLY if it’s not busy!!

We’ve gone when there was nobody (it was fall and pretty cold) and got to tent camp by the water and LOVED it. We went back on a weekend in June and it was awful. Packed, and RVs were loud and honestly rude. No tent only sites and RVs won’t hesitate to park next to a tent rather than by an RV.…

Amazing primitive sites!

We love the primitive sites at Nathan Bedford Forest! Each site is along the River banks, so you get the best views! Fire pits and picnic tables included. The bathhouse is very old though and does not have a shower. That is the only reason I couldn’t give this one 5 stars!

Sweet little campground

Just 4 miles from highway 62 in Kuttawa, KY and it feels like another place in time. You can fish Lake Barkley from your campsite or just enjoy the waves washing up. Level gravel sites with tables and a big fire pit with a cooking grate. Nice shade trees and some nature trails. There is a very…

Lots of activities- interesting camground

I was not sure if I was pulling into a campground or a mobile home park. Many seasonal sites and very busy with activities. Great if you have kids. People were nice and the park was clean. This is more of a fun destination place then an overnight. They had an opening and accommodated us for a last…

Best place I’ve been on the water

Great place for backcountry though you can drive right to the spot. The gravel road back can be rough especially right after a big rain but you can avoid most of the holes. The site is right on the water with a gravel opening beside it. We were able to setup 4 tents with lots of room to spare. We…

Serene, quiet and clean

We didn’t know exactly what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised by how kind everyone is. The amenities are clean and the setting is gorgeous. Felt very safe. The water is beautiful and the only sound is nature and the cracklings from the fire at night.

  • Much better with a dancing fire to light the surroundings.

Beautiful

We camped for one night and arrived late with no one on duty to take payment so we used the honor system drop box. Stunning views of lake and awesome sunset. Left in the early morning to a bunch of deer everywhere.

Only one night

A clean campground right off of the roadway. I can't say much about this place other than the restrooms were clean with the exception of these large biting flies! Campsites with large and well-maintained but very close together.

Wow

If you want a campground that has it all, Pennyrile State Park is where you want to be!

It has a GORGEOUS white sand beach with breathtaking blue water. Crazy to see that in KY!

Explore their caves, kayaking, canoeing, basketball and so much more! They even offer a wrangler campground if you…

Fishing spot

Has a little Lake in it to fish. Not far off the interstate makes it handy. Very popular spot.

Remote camping

Ginger Bay is very remote but as always, remote is totally worth it. I don’t recommend a pull behind trailer as the road is so rough you wont get a camper up it. The sites are just a clearing in the trees so there is no place to park a rig. Campsites are right on the lake and no cell access. The…

Well kept

The tent sites were well kept. They are gravel pads with a grill and fire ring. They are right on the water with easy access to put in a kayak. And close to a boat ramp if bringing a boat. It’s shaded. The bath house is a bit of a walk and they have restrooms only, no showers.
