Beautiful clean park

We stayed here overnight just as a stopping point on our trip, but we were pleasantly surprised! Nice pool, very clean park, lots of things for the kids. They have activities on the weekends. We stayed in a pull through site and it was not very level (we had planned to not even unhook from the…

Great State Park

Panther Creek State Park has a great campground for families to spend time at. For a lesser known state park, they have a lot of amenities. Playgrounds, hiking, horseback trails, mountain bike trails, tennis courts, disc golf, baseball field, volleyball, lake access, swimming pool (closed for…

Fun... Enough

Just a very small campground, seems to be family friendly with just enough amenities. There's a playground, sand boxes and paved semi level RV pads. I wouldn't come back but the place is very quiet. If you're into that...

Bad Place to stay

I find it interesting how Steve is able to remove the negative reviews posted here by saying they got the wrong campground. Steve is all about the money and is not worried about who he lets stay here as long as they pay. The washer has been broken for months and no Wifi. When you get a heavy rain…

Exceptional Community

Stayed 2 nights. The owners, Kevin and Christy, were exceptional people and made us feel like part of the family. The community of seasonal campers were so welcoming we really didn't want to leave. I personally didn't have the fishing success I'd hoped for, but it's more evidence of my skill then…

Best views on the east coast

Get ready to spend the days and nights with about a hundred other people! The hike up is about a mile but once you're finally up, you'll never want to go down.

Beautiful Campground

Great trails, walkways, and a lot of activities available (tennis courts, basketball, frisbee, etc.). The restrooms/showers were clean and well stocked. The only drawback was the slow, and sometimes non-existent, wi-fi service.

Beautiful

We have visited twice. Great park, my favorite in the state. Love hiking on the bald peaks.  We stayed in March 2019 and was caught in a surprise snow storm.   We had the most fun on this trip.  The State had the roads plowed by noon so we were never stranded.   Great facilities, clean and warm.

Clean

We were only here for one night in the rain but it was quiet and the bath hall was spotless! Conveniently located close to highway 81 and town!

Great Mountain biking!

Very nice bathrooms. The sites aren’t the most private we’ve ever stayed at, but the mountain biking was so much fun we didn’t care! Hiking and biking was an A+. Great place for families because of the surrounding wooded activities.

Beautiful & Free but Lots of Road Noise

Just on the edge of Watauga Lake sits this free dispersed camping area that is perfect for tent camping only. This is a park outside the gate and walk your gear in type of place, some bring your IKEA bags or a wagon. Opportunities for fishing and boating are abundant. Most of campsites are large,…

River, Rafts & Beer ‘nuf said .....

Great sites right by the river for tents, various unique styles of “cabin camping” along the river and off the river, great staff (brings wood to you!) and if you have family members who don’t wanna rough it they have a great bar(beer, food, music)by the river with WIFI. Everybody wins. Launch…
