When searching the Smoky Mountains for locations of interest I stumbled upon this spot. Not a camp but a nice place for a family outing before exploring. The pavilion area is large and spacious and amenities there allow you to have a great family gathering. If you are driving through for a day trip and need a good stop try this one or you can make arrangements to host your events here.
I wouldn't typically review a space like this however on some listings you will find this listed as "dispersed camping" however when I inquired about this site it is clearly regarded as a non-camping area. Many of the areas of the Smoky Mountains do have hikers passing through as a part of the Appalachian Trail, however this is not an official shelter stop.
Amazing place for family picnics!!
Play in the creek, grill some lunch, hike to the old school house and the Walker Sisters cabin all without moving your car. The river is so peaceful here most of the time that it is easy to play in.
