The Spearfish City Campground is a beautiful shaded campground nestled along Spearfish Creek, one of the best trout fishing streams in the Black Hills.

The Campground is located adjacent to the D.C. Booth Historic Fish Hatchery and Spearfish City Park.  It offers a variety of campsites, from non-hookup sites to premium spaces with creek access and other amenities.

Spearfish City Campground

We stayed in Spearfish overnight on the way home. It was a great campground. Very clean and the people we great. The stream running through the campground is crystal clear and the kids loved playing in it. Highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area!

Great place in town

right along spearfish creek, this campground was really nice and kept up well.  Clean, good upkeep on the bathrooms and walking distance from grocery stores and laundry, etc.  Fishing is fun and there is the hatchery nearby.  Also ventured up to Spearfish Canyon for a hike, which i highly recommend if you have time as it is beautiful views - especially in the fall when the leaves are changing.

Nice Campground, Close to Everything

We stayed here for 3 nights after spending 3 nights closer in custer. Well maintained campground, our site was right across the road from the Creek. We stayed in July and the city of Spearfish had activities in the park (about 1/4 mile away) every evening (magician, concerts, etc). The hatchery was great as well. We spent a lot of time exploring Spearfish Canyon/Roughlock Falls/Lead/etc but spent one day just to relax at the campground/hatchery/Park. It was great.

Campsites were pretty close together but it was not anywhere near full when we were there so we had plenty of space. Paved roads were great for kids to ride their bikes.

Clean, well maintained, great bathrooms!

Facilities are really nice I won’t lie, we just didn’t like how close every site was and how crowded it felt. Had two nights reserved cancelled after the first to find something more our style. Cancel by 11am for refund. 

Not our cup of tea

Camped on a Sunday and there were plenty of open spots in the tent camping area. Everyone had plenty of room and a short walk to the restrooms/showers. Best part of this campsite is the creek that flows literally through the sites. Would highly recommend.  No reservations for the primitive sites. Very friendly staff.

Fantastic spot

We tent camped here for a night. All tent sites are given out on a first come first serve basis. We got a quiet spot along the Spearfish River for $25/night. This campground has an awesome bathroom and shower which require a code to access. Definitely will stay here again. 

Great camp site!

I'll definitely be staying at this campground on my next visit to the Black Hills. Very nice for tent camping or boondocking with a small trailer. If you are looking for full RV hookups, they do have them but the RV sites are a bit tighter than I might prefer.

Beautiful setting, clean and well appointed.

You cannot find a place to camp  more darling than this.   Clean, spacious, affordable. Staff was great. Bike paths were awesome and plentiful. You can bike all across town. Fish Hatchery entertaining and wonderful. Don’t miss driving 14A for spectacular views. The town is cute. Entire experience was beautiful. 

Best Place Ever!

This campground is unbelievable.  It’s a few blocks from downtown with showers.  It was $25 night for tenting.  Most campsites had fire rings and picnic tables. Very busy - but super friendly and safe.  Drove about 15 min to Deadwood and about an hour to Mt Rushmore. I will come back. 

Great location

This place was amazing. This campground was so calm and quiet. When camping their is a small calm swimming stream that runs right through the campground. If you get bored the campground is right next to the fish hatchery and a big park. There is also a bike path and some small mountain bike trails.

Great camping trip

One of our favorite spots by far! The campground has two creeks that surround the entire camp. People fly fishing right in camp, very cool to watch. The let us pull our van right down next to the bigger creek, so our chair we right on the water. Right on the edge of town next to a must see fish hatchery. We will definitely be coming back here. 

Simply Amazing 

Always clean, great showers, quiet at night and it cools off wonderfully all summer. 

Have stayed here for years 

We enjoyed our stay at this very busy and crowded campground. The area is beautiful and there is a creek that runs around edges and the fish hatchery to tour across the street.  Sites are very close and there were lots of unattended barking dogs in the morning and evenings we stayed as a rally going on. Bathrooms and showers were nice but they need a path so you don't have to walk all the way around the campsite loop at night and in the rain.  

Spend a day driving Spearfish canyon and hiking to waterfalls.

Lovely campground close to town with great bike paths. 

This busy campground is located in Spearfish city near the National Fish Hatchery.  Sites vary from full hookups (FHUs) to tent sites.  The more spacious sites with some FHUs are along the creek. The middle RV sites were a bit more crowded together.  Decent WiFi and Verizon cell phone signals.  Be aware that they turn the water off 1 Oct, but the price for sites drops.

Busy City Park Campground Even in the Off Season

More like a campground in a city park. Seeing some awesome reviews so I'm glad I found this place we didn't need any power hook up so they stuck our little teardrop in with the tents. Showers is a big plus we needed a place with that after coming back from Devils Tower and mount Rushmore. Place even has a cute little brook that runs through

Nice city campground along Spearfish Creek and super close to downtown and has easy access to Spearfish Canyon. We definitely took advantage of the creek and proximity to downtown during our stay. 

Pretty Spot & Busy

Great little community campground, something for everyone. Full hook-ups 45/night, dry camping 30/night, tent 25/night. Dump station and fresh water $5 charge if not camping. 

Great community camground/park

Super quiet. Checkin was a bit confusing for a tent site since no one was at the checkin cabin. We talked to some campers and they said to reserve a “spot” online and then find a place to pitch a tent in the shaded area on the map. 🤷‍♂️

Neat city campground

A beautiful and well-kept campground!  Very grassy. The spots are pretty close together compared to what we’re used to in state parks, but I would absolutely return. My kids loved the creek that runs through the campground and the fact that we could walk to the city playground. Very close to historic downtown Spearfish! The staff was super helpful and sweet.
