No one can visit Mitchell without seeing the world's only Corn Palace. Established in 1892 and at its present location since 1921, the structure is stripped each year and decorated anew with murals formed by thousands of bushels of corn, grasses, grains and other products celebrating South Dakota's bounty. The Corn Palace is mentioned in the book 1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die. At the Dakota Discovery Museum, see historic American Indian beadwork and quillwork. Stop by the nearby Cabela's, just minutes away. Then return to your comfortable campground with Tent Sites, Camping Cabins and RV Sites up to 70 feet long. A pool, mini golf and bike rentals keep kids happy. After a stay here, you'll be rested and ready for the road. 

Mitchell KOA

We stayed at the Mitchell KOA one night as a stop over on our way to Custer, SD. The feature we liked best is that all RV, 5th Wheel/Camper sites are set up as pull through. We called while on the road to see if they had any open spots, and they got us in for the night:) The campground hosts were very welcoming and friendly. There is an outdoor pool, but it was pretty crowded (With temps in the 90's who could blame anyone!!!) and they have a cute little miniature golf course too!! This is a pet friendly place with a large fenced in area for your pets to play in. The only drawback we saw was the lack of trees for shade and privacy. You can literally shake hands with your next door neighbor while sitting at your picnic table.

Stayed at Mitchell KOA in our way to the Black Hills.
Large, level sites.
Pool and mini golf.
I didn’t see it, but my wife and granddaughter said the shower on the women’s side was FANTASTIC!
Nice dog run.
And the Corn Palace!

Stopped at Mitchell KOA again this year when we had car problems on I-90.
Spent 3 days stuck at the campground.
Lucky they have nice shady sites, lots of room and a friendly staff.
Unfortunately, they no longer have the nice shower my wife liked!

Easy Park

Sept 9-10, 2019 Wish we had stayed at Cabellas. OK for one night. Not friendly. Site B16 had electric, water, and sewer. $39,30 KOA rate. Elevation 1,310. Verizon 4G 4 bars. Wifi very good. Park has dump station, showers, flush toilets, pool, miniature golf, bike rental and laundry room. See RV Camping Journal for more details.

Mitchell KOA Journey

From the moment we arrived the staff was helpful and friendly. After a long haul from Spearfish SD, in 50-60 mph gusts, it was nice to find some smiling faces and even better service.

Great staff, awesome service!

Great location. Has golf and playground for the kids. They clean bathrooms after checkout time, at 11am. No assigned tent spots, but lots available and on nice grass, with tables and a firepit. This KOA has everything.  Bathrooms are clean and have 3 stalls and showers. Staff stayed late to help others. Great spot!

Great! Will return!

We were headed home from visiting our kids in Spokane and blew an engine on I-90. The tow truck driver helped up find this place, and towed both our Jeep and travel trailer 80 miles to get here.
The manager helped us find a repair shop that only needed 3 days to find and replace the engine.
This campground has lots of RV and tent sites.
They have a pool, and mini golf.
Mitchell is home to the Corn Palace. If you haven’t been there don’t go!
