Table Rock State Park is known for being a perfect glimpse into the scenic bliss that South Carolina's Highway 11 is known for. Most prominent to the park is the towering mountain Table Rock, where the park earns its name. This also serves as a backdrop for the 3,000 acre park, and its numerous camping facilities. Below this section of the Blue Ridge Mountains, visitors can enjoy Table Rock State Park's cabins and campground, as well as lakes and various hiking trails located within. 

The Table Rock State Park hiking trails weave through mountain streams, babbling brooks, and rushing waterfalls to the tops of Pinnacle and Table Rock mountains. The views here showcase the entirety of the region, and shouldn’t be skipped if you’re planning on visiting. That said, while the park is well known for its natural features, Table Rock also has its place in history.

For example, the park’s hiking trails host the access point for the 80-mile Foothills Trail, one of the most famous in the Midwest. Hikers often use this trail to travel through the extensive network of SC state parks. These trails date all the way back to the Pioneers who would use them as trade routes and for homesteading. In fact, many of the Table Rock State Park cabins and other structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps remain standing and are on the National Register of Historic Places. 

This park is unique in that it is one of only 16 South Carolina state parks built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Moreover, there is even a historic CCC-built Lodge available for weddings, receptions, meetings and other special occasions. Additionally, the park features 2 park lakes: the 36-acre Pinnacle Lake and the 67-acre Lake Oolenoy. 

94 standard campsites for tent or RV camping, plus 14 renovated cabins provide ample accommodation to visitors. Aside from the larger lakes, there is also an old-fashioned swimming hole complete with a high-dive that is open during the summer season. Take your family out and use one of the 4 picnic shelters available to rent for group gatherings, for a day of fun, music, and recreation. And for those wanting an event to check out, the Music on the Mountain bluegrass jam takes place each month at the Table Rock Lodge–perfect for anyone wanting to escape the outdoors for a minute.

Table Rock State Park Campground

Table Rock SP offers many camp sites, to include trailer, tent and cabins. The trailer sites are far enough apart that you don't feel like you're on top of your neighbors, but still make good use of a small space to keep from encroaching on the rest of the park. Each trailer site has water and electricity connections and there is a comfort station with toilets and hot showers.

The fee was reasonable for a popular place like this and reservations are definitely needed during peak seasons. I went during the off season so there weren't too many others out with me. The campground as a whole is clean and well-maintained.

South Carolina SPs currently have a ban on bringing in firewood, forcing me to buy some at the camp store, leading to my only criticism: The wood was still very green and required significant work to get lit and constant attention to keep burning.

Overall, though, it was a great experience and I plan on going back many times to check out the other trails and activities in the area.

Stayed here and ran here. Upstate Ultra trail run. Beautiful challenging trails! Nice campground, clean and relaxed. 

Up, up and away!

This is a one of a kind place.  Every time I come here, it is a different experience, from the people I meet to the trails and views.  Table Rock is definitely one of the hottest attractions in SC.  The only downside is that because it is so great, it does get populated pretty quickly.  My advice would be to head out on a hike as early as you can, then spend the rest of the day relaxing at the top and taking your time down the Pinnacle Trail.

One of a Kind

I've stayed in both the tent camping sites and cabins here, and they are both marvelous. I just returned from a few days in the area, and , it being summer, the lake was hopping.
First, me and the kids would get all sweaty on a hiking trail, stop at the waterfall on Carrick's Creek for a cold plunge, and then jump in the lake for a longer swim.
I've hiked every trail in the park, and the trail system there is excellent as well.
Oh, don't forget the playgrounds and grilling spots. You can't wrong here. 

An awesome place any time of the year!

Enjoyed this park, scenery was magnificent. Camping was an adventure as I had a heck of a time finding any staff to direct me to my destination, I figured it out though. The trail was challenging but so totally worth it!!

This is one of my favorite places to "camp." The cabins have all of the amenities that you need for a week of hiking, biking, and exploring the South Carolina mountains. It's close to Caesar's Head or Dupont Forest. 

The hike to the top of Table Rock is steep, so make sure to bring lots of water (and snacks) and wear appropriate shoes. 

WPA Era State Park

Excellent trails, vistas, and waterfalls. The park can get a little crowded in peak season compared to others in the area. My favorite view of Table Rock is actually located in Ceasars Head State Park from the overlook.

Jones Gap State Park is part of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area which includes Table Rock, SC. Jones Gap State Park offers visitors hiking, select camping, fishing, and more. The three activities listed were some of my favorite things to do in Jones Gap, and this is one of the least visited of the Mountain Bridge Areas in my opinion. Table Rock and nearby Caesars Head were more popular than Jones Gap. Jones Gap has limited parking which means entry to the park is limited as well. However it is well worth the wait for whatever you decide to do while enjoying the land which follows the Middle Saluda River.

Part of the Mountain Bridge Natural Area you can work your way to Falls Creek Falls. While this  is a hike to the falls, there are a handful of neat campsites on your way to the falls, and you can find some sites besides the river there. It is considered a strenuous journey for some, but most can make the 1.9 mile hike to Falls Creek falls. It is well worth the visit, and near the beginning of the trail to Falls Creek Falls.

I've been visiting this park for years. I used to live a few miles away and would hit the trails often, but I also have family in the area, so I visit often when I'm there near them.

In the winter, you can enjoy the trails and the winter beauty and expanded views with no leaves on the trees.

In the summer, though, the fun really begins. Me and the kids will usually head out for a hike to get all sweaty. Then we jump in the creek and waterfalls on the way back down. To cap it off, we jump in the lake for a final swim and lots of jumping off the diving platform into the deeper water.

You can't go wrong with a visit to this park.

As to camping, you can go with tents, car, or RV's. They have quite a few cabins available as well.

A Great Spot to Visit Anytime!

Stayed in tent saturday night with wife and 2 kids and a dog. Tons to do for everyone. Safe, clean and quiet.

Beautiful palce

We've stayed in the newer section of the Park several times now--each time, a different experience: waterfall hikes in Dupont, a segment hike to finish off the Foothills Trail, nearby mushroom hunt dayhikes around the lake, incredible climbs to impressive vistas. A recommended destination that always satisfies--whether you love to backpack, dayhike, camp or glamp!

Our camping trip 

Nice campground with great hiking trails nearby. There is a playground and a swimming area within driving distance. They sponsor great events such as the Easter egg hunt while we were there. Park rangers were very helpful with trail information.

Mountain camping 

Our sites were clean and perfect for tents! The bathrooms seemed overwhelmed with use😩 but the rangers did a good job of keeping up with them!

Sites are kinda close but we felt very comfy with our two sites. Might have been able to get 2 tents on one site but 2 cars might have been tight.

Camp store had wood and supplies and welcome center has great wifi!!!

Great Location! Ready to hike!

Table Rock park is probably one of my all time favorite places to visit. The backdrop is absolutely gorgeous because mountains surround the entire place. The park is pretty large as well- which is great because it gives ample room for guests. The park offers cabins, which are great. My family of 4 fit into one cabin comfortably. The cabins are equipped with a kitchen, but definitely bring pots/pans to cook with because they do not supply those. Also bring water, sleeping bags, pillows, and warm clothes if you are going in the fall/winter time. My family and I went for Labor Day weekend, and it was a bit chilly at night. One thing we really enjoyed doing here was hiking. My family and I love to hike, and this spot had some awesome hikes. The ranger we talked too said there is about 80 miles of hiking that can be done within the park. The hikes we did ranged from easy to difficult. There were gorgeous views- waterfalls, streams, and of course mountains! Two of the best mountains that are in view are Pinnacle and Table Rock Mountain. I would suggest talking with one of the park rangers if you are interested in doing any hikes. They can direct you to the right hike for your ability. The campground itself is great. There are 2 different lakes (can't remember the names of them), that are great for fishing and swimming. There is also a swimming hole, although it seemed pretty busy so we didn't actually swim in it. I believe there is a cost to come into the park for just the day- $5 for adults and $3 for children. I don't really recall what the cost of the cabins are- my parents are the ones that paid for it :). I would definitely recommend coming here, especially if you like hiking and the "cabin life."

Gorgeous! Lots of hiking

Late last year was my first time here. Cabins and campsites are nice and the hike to the top of the mountain is beautiful and technical. As someone who likes more primitive areas and obscure trails- table rock is a little to congested for me. You must plan your adventure carefully to avoid crowds. 

Wonderful camping and hiking

I live roughly 10 minutes from Table Rock and go there all the time especially during the summer. The Table Rock trail is a must if you are nearby! It is pretty strenuous especially if you have health issues but is well worth the trek to the top. Just make sure that if you hike during the winter to give yourself plenty of time to finish the trail and to wear good trail shoes since ice can be expected. The campsites are always very well kept; as is the park in general but gets pretty crowded. 

Worth it just for the view

It’s a nice state park with two lakes and nice hiking past waterfalls. We had a spot for our popup behind the wash house which was very clean btw. Site was shaded with a firepit. Closest town for things you forget is about 30 min away. It rained all weekend but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. There were all kinds of campers here from tents - million dollar rigs. Roads into the camping area had some “s” type turns.

Camping Information: The park provides a 69-site camping area, located near the park entrance, and a 25-site camping area, located near White Oaks picnic area. Each site has individual water and electrical hookups, and picnic table. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. Both campgrounds are convenient to restrooms with hot showers. 

Nice park with some nice hiking.

I'll admit that I'm not in my best shape ever but also know it's not my worst shape, this was full leg workout for 4 miles up as well as 4 miles back down. I highly recommend in the warmer months you get on the trail as early as possible. It opens at 7am. Bring plenty of water.  The views along the way are beautiful and when you get to the top at the main overlook is fabulous too. I say the main overlook as there are a couple spots like right at Governors Rock is deep into the trail...but not the main view. 

Quad Overload of Steps

We had campsite 8. I wouldn’t recommend the front row sites (1-8) because of traffic exposure, but they’re not terrible. We booked late and that’s all that was left. Traffic isn’t bad. Had water and electric hookup. Campground was full, but didn’t feel crowded or full. We will go back but will probably try for the 60s campsites. 

Nice place

I took my 10yo son camping for the first time (for both of us!).  We had a great time!  The campground was clean and quiet.  Bathhouses were very clean as well.  We enjoyed the trails and swimming in the lake.  It rained a bit each day, but we still loved it.  I can’t wait to take another trip, will definitely be back! 

Perfect for First Timers

Table Rock State Park is a large park with at least three“campgrounds.” One is a primitive campground, and one is a traditional campground. I did not get to explore the third campground, but I believe it is a traditional campground as well. The site I stayed at, site 56, was level, except for the approach; however, the pad was rough gravel. I put down two tarps under my tent to help eliminate the roughness inside the tent. The site was shaded and wasn’t too close to my camping neighbors, but the biggest problem was dealing with the ants—big black ants, small black ants, and other tiny ants. There was no lantern pole, but there was a fire pit and a picnic table. The bath house was only a short walking distance away. There is no lack of things to do, and the trail system is extraordinary. The main attraction, I would guess, is Table Rock Mountain, but there are other things to do. There is a swimming beach and a diving platform. Beside the beach are picnic tables, including a picnic shelter with a standing grill. The visitors center/store was well stocked with souvenirs and supplies, and there is a laundry next to it. Sometime during the night when I had to go to the restroom, I discovered that there was not water. The next morning, I turned on the faucet at my campsite, and it sputtered out brown water at first and then it came out clear. I said that to say this. There was a problem and they dealt with it quickly. That impressed me. The heat and humidity was almost unbearable, but nothing can be done about that during the summer. If you camp in a tent during the summer, make sure to take and extension cord and a fan. Overall, this is a great place to camp during vacation, but the cost is a little more than I expected to pay for a tent site. Costwise, I’m not sure I would want to pay that much for camping for a whole week. It rivals the national campground franchises. However, if cost doesn’t concern you, it really is a good place to camp.

State Park with Beautiful Views

The campground at the top has very poor to no cell service, so we stayed on the lower loop closest to the camp store. They have been updating the sites to prevent flooding. The bathrooms are up kept, the camp store is handy for almost anything you need and has free wifi and laundry services. The sites are beautiful, but not all are level. Look around before you choose your site.  The hikes are jaw-dropping but be prepared with plenty of water and possibly a rain jacket. The swimming area is adorable and open, but because of COVID, the jumping dock is closed. We will come back to this campground!

We loved table rock. Campground is peaceful and lots of hiking trails all over. Planning on visiting again next weekend.

We had a blast!!!

Arrived here for a 5-night, tented stay from Sesqui State Park 2.5 hours away. Check in was easy, and the staff accommodated a second-chance selection given that Spot 60 was a bit too rocky for the tent. The alternatives #5 and #6 were close to the entrance and therefore exposed to the road, and #49 was next to the restrooms, but similar to #60, so stayed with #60. The spot is level be but jaggedly rocky, so it became necessary to remove stones and rocks as much as possible to prevent the damaging of the tent's floor. The picnic table's sandy pad was level and had the fire pit placed in an unfortunate upwind location, so sitting at the picnic table and having a smoky fire ended up being mutually exclusive. The sights and views of lake and mountain sides are serene and beautiful. No raccoons. Giant grasshoppers though. Clean bathrooms. Narrow, steep roads around the first campground loop, beware. Very nice visitor center. No WiFi, and terrible to Nil reception at the campground, from both TMobile and Verizon. The check-in office building's WiFi is unreliable. Had to drive to Easley to work remotely at the Ingles Starbucks!

Serious seclusion

We were heading to Table Rock this past weekend to camp.  As you pull in the gate, the entrance to the campground is just ahead on the left.  We pulled up to the camp store and spoke to the woman inside.  She was very friendly, gave us our sitemap and some general information about hours and we were on our way!  

We pulled through the campsite - the first 8 or so sites on the right are VERY close together, flat and very average.  As you pull into the loops though, the campsites spread out and are more private.  A couple recommended sites would be # 52, as it was a bit larger than the other sites - and a bit more private - with a longer site.  Another recommendation is site 13 - due to the large nature - a double site that backs up to the creek with a dry, shaded tent pad.   

There are clean bathrooms, not great cell reception - but no worries!  There is renovation happening here and sites are currently being updated and this campground will be even more beautiful when they are complete!

We camped at Table Rock State Park in SC in October 2020.  It's a beautiful park, clean and well maintained.  The weekend was a little crazy. The park was packed and many sites were filled to overflowing.  I'm glad we were able to stay past the weekend to enjoy the peace and quiet.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  Kayak rentals are very inexpensive, but 30 - 60 minutes is all you'll need.  They were a little short staffed due to Covid, so the check-in location near the campground was closed.  We had to check in at the Visitor Center, which is quite inconvenient if you're towing a rig.  But all in all, it was a great stay!

Stunning scenery

Have waited six months into our RV life to start reviews for fair comparisons. Spent 4 nights here. Mortified to say that this was our first time here despite living in Charleston, SC for over 10 years. What a gem! Fabulous solid hiking including waterfalls and biking even around the park’s roads. Love the feel of this campground. Living in the forest. And one of the most friendly camp hosts we have encountered. Could easily have stayed here longer.

Hidden gem of South Carolina

This was my first time staying at the park, but second visit. This is one of the most beautiful places on earth.  It isn’t as busy as the Smokies and I find myself more at rest here.  The park has good to excellent facilities and is well maintained. In the park, you can swim, hike, camp, fish and kayak.  You will see some excellent views of the mountain ranges.  We saw deer, squirrels, birds, snakes, and many salamanders.  There are many waterfalls in the area and many places to hike.  There are a couple of small towns not far away and Greenville isn’t a long drive.  If you like to hike there are two strenuous hikes in the park from 4-8 miles long and steep climbs that offer breathtaking views.

We absolutely loved camping here. 
Our campsite was really big too especially compared to most they are pretty small and right on top of each other. Beautiful hiking trails. First time ever hiking and with 3 kids. Ages 6,4, and 1.  They absolutely loved it. Highly recommend doing carrick creek trail (1.9mi) and the do the palmetto trail cutting across to mount laurel and then back through carrick.  (2.9 mi) then definitely do the lake trail. We are definitely coming back and hitting the table rock hike. 

Labor Day weekend 

My husband and I went there for our second anniversary. It was a great get away. There is so much hiking and exploring to do. We stayed in the White Oak campground with our pop-up. It was a very clean bathroom and there was hardly anyone there. We did go in the middle of the week to avoid people, so it worked. 

So much to do

We stayed at Table Rock in August of 2021. 

•The bathrooms were clean but could use a little updating 
•The sites are gravel, but it’s very large gravel that is difficult to walk on or move anything wheeled over. Otherwise they were level once you got onto the site and the website specifies which sites have slopes and which don’t. We were on sites 66 and 68. 
•Hiking is excellent, and staff were very helpful!

We absolutely loved this park. We stayed at the White oak campground. Beautiful and large sites.  The family showers didn’t work when we were there but the ones in the main shower house were fine.   Peaceful and wooded camping.  Absolutely amazing hikes.  Especially for kids.  The beach and swimming area are amazing!  I would definitely go back!

Stayed here for 2 weeks in January at the White Oaks Campground, not Loop A.  Table Rock is about 10 minutes east of Keowee Toxoway State Park, and probably 20 minutes from Devil's Fork.  Nearest town with major stores is Pickens, SC. Greenville is about 45 minutes.

White Oaks is much further into the park than Loop A, so you'll actually drive by the main trail entrances.  Getting into my site (84) was fine, but be advised there's a mix of tent, small trailer, and larger sites.  Some of sites looked under construction when I was there.

Cell service is one of the main reasons you'd want to choose White Oaks instead of the main campground.  When I drove though, Loop A had no service on Verizon.  Somehow, just down the road, White Oaks had fast 5G.  Starlink could connect, but obviously wasn't reliable because of the dense forest.

I stayed in site #84 which was definitely one of the better ones available.  Picnic table and firepit faced a wooded area with more privacy than some other sites.  Pad backs up to a very pretty creek - there's a random road behind it but barely noticeable.

Restrooms/shower was fairly modern and very clean - hot water available.  Dump station and laundry is located at the main campground, not at White Oaks.
