parking lot and bathroom with a .75 mile walk to the river with campsites

Arrived to parking lot with bathroom (outhouse) with about a mile walk to campsites and river. We found semi secluded campsite beside the river equipped with firepit lantern post. We set up camp and found firewood easily. Woods were fairly open easy to move around keep in mind you will be within shouting distance of other campers. The river was very pretty and loaded with trout (we didn't catch any with spinning reels) We had a great time just take note the bathroom is rugged as well as the long walk to the sites.

The views are epic!

The views are amazing! Really made the mile and a half hike from where you park to the campsite worth it. You drive up and park then walk a mile and half to the campsites. Very well maintained. Peaceful and most of the fellow campers are very kind. It’s primitive camping. So no running water or electricity. Just you and the trees. There is a “bathroom” up where you park your car and a “bathroom” down by the campsite but that’s it. It’s clean as you can get in the middle of the mountains. Everything is clearly marked and each campsite has a fire pit, picnic table and bear safe boxes and a pulley system to hoist up your food. Great fishing spot and great for hikers who want to see some waterfalls. Family friendly but I would recommend investing in a couple heavy duty wagons to lug your camp stuff to and from your car. Overall great campsite! No cell service for miles and miles. Campsites are numbered. Dog friendly.

Primitive camping areas

Great spot if you're into primitive camping with emphasis on backpacking. Campsites can be found a long the Chatooga river with is a gorgeous river full of small day hikes to waterfalls. It is really close to a state supported trout hatchery that also stocks the river and you can visit/tour.

SiteIt wasn't a numbered site.
