The Hanna Campground is open one week before Memorial Day through one week after Labor Day. NOTE: Walk-in tent sites are open year round. The elevation is 5,600 ft. 13 Sites. Campground is adjacent to Spruce-lined East Spearfish Creek. A wide Spruce-lined meadow is behind campground in front of pine-covered mountains - a scenic and peaceful place to camp. Half the sites are walk-ins. The Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway begins north of campground at State Rt. 14A. There are limited groceries and gas at Cheyenne Crossing, north of campground. Great little campground by the water, but only 3 sites have shade, others are in direct sunlight until dusk. No running water, but very quiet and spacious. You will need bug spray if our long.

GuidePossibly my favorite
Hanna CG is in the running for fav CG in the black hills. Small, but has 3 shaded sites next to the creek (1,2,3). Nice 1.1 mile hike that starts next to Host site. If you just tent camp, there are about 5 sites off by themselves with a vault toilet. Pretty, grassy area. Pup enjoyed cooling off in the creek. Never saw the host. It seems they have Tues and Thursday off thru out the black hills.

Directions
From Lead, SD, take US Highway 85 south 7.6 miles to Hanna campground sign (just beyond Cheyenne Crossing). Turn left at sign and go 2.2 miles to campground.
