Great location: you can bike right out of your site onto the bike path of the state park, which is one of the best in the area. Also, it's mostly RVs but does have a few tent camping sites. Most importantly it's first come first serve, so early arrival is paramount. It's the fullest campground in the area. Walk to the state park, Waldemeer water and amusement park and Sara's diner, a legendary 50s style hot dog stand and ice cream joint.
We spend a June weekend at Sara's campground. We were in a tent on in the non-beach lot. It was mostly RV's, but it was a quiet lot even though it was by the main road. There's a pizza place and a diner right on the lot, facilities were super nice, camp store was nice. We drove up and stopped at several beaches and all in all a beautiful park!
It left like we were at the ocean here! The hiking trails provided fun during the sunny days. The beach was a great place to relax and look at the stars. We were pleased with our camping experience as well as the amount of attractions and sites to see in or near the park.
