Recreation
Detroit Lake is a popular destination for boating, jet skiing, swimming and fishing. Rainbow trout, Kokanee salmon and catfish are found in the lake. A boat ramp and dock are located next to the campground. The Stahlman Point Trail is a quarter-mile from the campground entrance road. The trail meanders through younger Douglas fir forests and offers some memorable views of Detroit Lake.
Facilities
The campground offers single and double-family campsites, as well as an accessible group site for up to 70 people. Accessible flush toilets, drinking water and coin-operated showers are available at Cove Creek. The group campground comes with a sheltered eating area. In the day use area, there is about 1,000 ft. of shoreline. There is a dock for launching, loading and unloading only. There is no mooring allowed.
Natural Features
A mix of wooded and open sites are provided at the campground. Its location is near enough to the Detroit Reservoir to hear passing boats, but a little too far for unobstructed views of the lake. The reservoir covers 3,500 acres and is surrounded by groves of Douglas fir.
Nearby Attractions
Additional hiking trails can be found across the lake, including those that lead to Dome Rock and Needle Rock.

Well shaded with good lake access
We really enjoyed our time at Cove Creek. All the sites are well shaded. Our site 51 was quite spacious with a direct path to the lake. It is a shared path so several people walked directly next to our campsite, which didn’t bother us but I could see it being an issue for others. The lake access was very rocky, but not busy at all. It seemed like the sites on the perimeter were generally better. Some of the inner loop sites were clustered closely and didn’t have as much privacy. The bathrooms were just ok and the showers are $1.25 and only accept quarters. This is a good campground for an easy lake getaway and will be on my go-to list for Detroit lake camping.

Quite and Clean
Cove Creek Campground has nice facilities that are well maintained. The campground has its own boat launch and large sites. I would have given it five stars but the accuracy of lengths of the sites was way off. Out site was only listed for a 24’ trailer but we fit our 31’ trailer and suburban. There are lots of first come first serve spaces.
Excellent lake access
Cove Creek is a popular campground with excellent access to Detroit Lake. It has a long beach and is right across from Piety Island. I found the campground rather crowded and loud but loved the quick walk to the lake.
Several spots are on steep inclines, making it difficult to park an RV.
