## Overview

 Wyeth Campground is just off of Interstate 84 in a forested setting with grassy fields. There are 13 individual sites, three group sites, and a 24-hour camp host. In the past this site was a Seed Kiln, Guard Station, Church camp, Civilian Conservation Corps camp and Conscientious Objector Camp during World War II.
## Recreation

 The Wyeth trail and the Gorge 400 trail access wilderness, waterfalls, the Pacific Crest Trail and dispersed camping opportunities. Fishing, sea kayaking, kiteboarding and windsurfing are nearby on the Columbia River while road biking is available on the Historic Columbia River Highway bike path adjacent to the campground. Please note that the Wyeth Trail #411 is closed indefinitely due to damage sustained during the Eagle Creek fire of 2017. 
## Facilities

 Paved roads, paths and aprons make this site easily accessible to all. The full-time onsite hosts maintain a central flush toilet restroom with hot and cold water. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and fire grills and many sites are fully accessible. There are no RV hookups or dump sites. 
## Natural Features

 Set at the base of classic Gorge cliffs, this historic site features easy access to trails, waterfalls, a bike path and a creek. The Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness and solitude is a short hike from the campground. Osprey and bald eagles reside locally. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Take a hatchery tour 10 miles west at Bonneville Dam, enjoy world-class wind sailing activities 10 miles east in Hood River, tour orchards or see iconic waterfalls in the gorge, all within 45 minutes. Cascade Locks offers Sternwheeler cruises 8 miles west. [The Historic Columbia River Highway][1] bike path now runs directly adjacent to the campground and heads east anwestd for a relaxing hike or bike ride to Vieno State Park. See waterfalls along the way!

Wyeth Campground at the Gorge

This is a beautiful campground. We snagged one of the non reservable sites Labor Day weekend last year only to have to evacuate because of the Eagle Creek fire. Would love to go back.  There is a wonderful trail and stream to explore rught from the campground. 

Beautiful

Quiet campground, easily accessible from Portland. 

Easy access to biking along the Columbia River. 

Sites are well distance apart, some more private than others depending on trees and terrain. 

Water, trash and toilets available. There is a host on site as well. 

Some highway noise during the night but the campground is located directly off of the highway so it's to be expected. 

We plan to return. 


Cozy Spot , Bring your bike

This is a beautiful campground. We needed an overnight stop and were lucky to find this gem. Heavily wooded with well spaced terraced sites in the trees. They have 2 FCFS sites that were both open at 6pm when we arrived ($20 or $10 w/ access passes). There were 3 group sites available as well. Level pads for rvs with ample space to back in. Fire rings picnic tables, flush toilets, potable water spigots, firewood for sale. There is a fishing dock just across the road on the river. As noted by others, there is some noise from the 84, however it’s not terrible and proximity was important for this stop. Would recommend and camp here again.

Lovely camping on the Columbia River

This is a small campground (only 13 sites) but it is so beautiful. Lots of space at each site but the camp roads are thin. Don’t bring a trailer longer than 30 ft. It is dry camping but they do have a flush toilet. We reserved in advance. Mid week we had the place to ourselves but it was full on the weekend. There is a trailhead at the top of the campground and and the Rte 30 bike trail at the entrance. 

These sites are gorgeous. Nestled in amongst the trees. So peaceful. 

Beautiful Solitude

So nice to have first come/first serve campgrounds so close to Portland. I arrived around 2 on a Wednesday in August and grabbed one of 3 open sites. (There are group sites also that were FCFS, but they cost more.) 

  

I'd read about the hiking trail right outside the campground, but was super stoked to find a paved off-road bike trail. I took it 6 miles up to Venieto State Park.  Along the highway, but still very pretty. Waterfalls and great scenery!

  

Yes, you can hear the highway from the sites. Lots of trees, though and lots of privacy. No hook ups. Decent Verizon coverage.
