South Beach State Park Campground

Busy campground with little privacy

We picked this campground because the access to the beach was easier than most and the many trails in the area. This campground mainly caters to the RV crowd, with only two loops being set aside for tent camping. The sites are big but you are in full view of all your neighbors, the trees are sparsely scattered around.

There are flush toilets and showers, but we didn't use the showers and I can't speak to cleanliness of them. The hike to the beach is paved from the campground road and about a half mile. You are near the jetty and can see the ridge in Newport. I also think you can walk to the aquarium from the paved paths. I pprobably won't use this campground again, it is too busy and loud since there are no buffers between you and your neighbors. The ccampground is very dog friendly with hitch posts at the bathrooms and dog poop bag stations with trash cans regularly set around the area.
