Joseph H. Stewart County Park

We stayed 7 nights in site # B8. It was a big site with a beautiful BIG Red Cedar tree. The playground was behind us it was a little loud sometimes but not bad. We chose this campground because it's near Crater Lake and other nice lakes.  Diamond lake is close along with the rogue river runs a long ways with nice view points and small hikes. 

  

From our site we could walk along the lake which was nice. There are several different loops with some big sites. We kayaked the lake a few times, it was windy &amp; quite a few motor boats. We found a area over before the dam that was calm and good bass fishing. 

  

We went to Crater Lake &amp; WOW it's beautiful. The color of the water is amazing, there was a little snow around the lake &amp; quite a bit in other places.  The old lodge is so neat inside good to have a cocktail there inside or out. It's worth walking through it. 

  

Our lucky day there was the great car race they left Sacramento CA and had 9 days to get to Tacoma WA. These cars were so cool old 1916 and more cars. There were 106 cars in the race and crater Lake was on their route. 

  

Closest town is Prospect we went to the Trophy lounge to get WIFI and get a bite to eat and cheap cocktails. 

  

Some other places to explore were Mill Creek falls, the natural bridge, Diamond Lake,

Nice park with some big campsites. 

We were leaving crater lake and needed a place to camp. usually we hate going to rv parks because they are loud and, no offense to anyone, ritzy. we like the rugged road camping in the woods. but this was the exception. we got a tent site, which are cheaper, and the area we were in was for tents only. therefor we were one of two people there. the bathrooms were within walking distance and we had a view of the lake. it felt very safe because there was a trooper shack and we saw them every hour of the day making sure everything was okay. we then found an awesome walking path beneath ground level and against the water. it was truly amazing.

Great family campground, they have paved bike paths, playground, rentals for the lake.

Spacious Grounds

probably my favorite camping spot and so much to do. Only a 45 min drive from Medford, OR. Clean and well kept campground, bathrooms, and showers. Large campground for tents, RVs, and group camping. Lots of access points to the lake. Trail that you can hike or bike around the lake. I did not have service with Verizon, but my friends who had US Cellular had nice cell service. Even though it was super smoky due to the wildfires, it was still a very nice place to camp if you don’t mind the smoke, which is only a problem during fire season (July-September). This place will always be my go-to for camping, hiking, biking, and paddle boarding.

Large campground with lots of dispersed campsites. Bathrooms, water, firewood, hookups, picnic tables, etc. This campground has a movie screen set up for outdoor movies. It also has big fields and is located right next to lost lake. Very pretty well maintained campground with lots of recreational activities close by!

Growing up in Medford my father always took me to this park and I’ve loved it my entire life so my 5 star rating may reflect that.. although at this park you can find tons of hiking trails, wide open spaces, very friendly staff, bathrooms, showers, electric/water hook ups as well as playgrounds for kids and not even a mile down the road you have the  marina where you can grab some supply’s. I’d say all those things on top of the stunning natural beauty add up to 5 stars even without the nostalgia 😁 p.s I still miss the huge stone water fountain and mini pond they used to have.

Prettiest park we have seen so far. Great spots, lots of hiking trails. Biking trails, fishing, boating and water falls. Only thing I would warn people about are the yellow jackets in the ground. Our dogs got into some and they went everywhere. Clean showers, great rangers and host. I just cannot say enough.

My first time camping by myself.  I felt safe, hosts were very helpful.  I was up there in off season...it was quiet, clean.  Lots of nature to enjoy.

Steward state park

I mean I guess if you are the power boating type this is your jam too, lots of people in the lake and marina - I found the lake to be dirty (but felt good as it was 106 degrees that day) and the swimming area just a tiny span of gravelly rocks and mud.  🤷🏼‍♀️ The campground itself is pretty poorly run, nobody checked me in or made sure I had a hang tag and had paid (I did not, so I could have been anybody, I didn’t preregister my vehicle) every staff member had a sour look on their face, did not seem to be enjoying the job and not one of them was wearing a mask.  The bathrooms were disgusting, I’ve had cleaner experiences at dispersed campsites, a toilet was plugged literally the entire time I was there (3nights) and waste was filled to the brim.  The lawn sprinklers were going all night and one kept hitting my tent and startling me.  I would not stay here again.  Pluses :  for families, I bet this is a fun place.  Huge dog park area, badminton set, playground.  Sites are huge, people had half a dozen tents in one site.  Nice shady spots easily found.  (I was in D) showers go forever without having to push a button and have great pressure.  And....the miles of biking and hiking trails are great!  I walked halfway around the lake and it really was so beautiful and peaceful.  Not a great home base for a solo wilderness adventure, but again, families with powerboats seemed to be having a good time.  

Trails and paths are the reason to come here 

First time camping here. We did a mix of RV and tent at one site. Half the sites were closed for the season which made for a quiet stay. The bathhouse was well maintained and clean. RV sites were easy to access and hookup, and dump sites were also easy to navigate. Love that there are paved walking paths throughout the area and a few playgrounds for kiddos. Great views of Lost Creek Lake just a short walk from the campsite. Loved that this campsite is a good central spot to some great places such as Crater Lake and Mill Creek Falls. Overall we had a fantastic weekend!

Great location!

Spent last 10 days at JSSP. This is one of my most favorite campsites. Theirs boating, swimming, hiking, biking, dog park, several updated kids large outdoor play grounds. So many trails and adventures to be had. I’ve spent 10 days here and this isn’t my first go and I’m still discovering things. 
JSSP is clean clean clean and Huge with like 151 spaces to accommodate everything lol I love it here. Just beautiful and peaceful and calm. Nice get away from life. Thank you JSSP hosts/rangers. I’ll be back.

This large campground is off highway 62 at Lost Creek Lake. There are water and electric hook ups and non hook up sites available.

 We stayed here twice, once in a non-hookup site and we used a hook up site during a heatwave so we could have a/c. Nicely paved loops and sites with mix of sun and shade and grass and dirt. There is also paved trails for hiking and biking all over the area. From the campground the access to the lake is small trek on one of the paved trails which was a nice bike ride. Near the day use is also a store and deli and signs for various water craft rentals. The camp sites all have water (even in dry camping area though spigots were not threaded), picnic tables, BBQs and fire pits. There are amazing free hot showers and bathrooms in each of the loops. Rangers make frequent rounds. It can be quite crowded here on weekends and though sites aren’t very private they are spaced a decent amount.  

  

There is a trash compactor near the RV dump. No recycling other than a "Kids Can" program which I believe only accepts aluminum cans?  There was no sign to let you know.

  

You can either make a reservation in advance or show up and see if there are any free sites for the night.

  

There were also multiple playgrounds and a large gorgeous dog park. We would stay here again. Good ATT service, TMobile had bars but service was inconsistent and Verizon had 3-4 bars of LTE roaming.

Nice Place with Lots to Do 

We have camped here twice now the campground is clean with open areas, great playgrounds, great bathrooms, and the camp hosts have been super helpful and friendly.

This campground is mostly reservation required in the summer months with only a few walk in spots but in September it is only 1/2 full. We love the bike trails here. Several miles of paved trails to explore.

This is a large, sprawling, very peaceful and green Jackson County campground with several loops. 

  

Loop D is no hookups (though each site has a non-threaded water spigot). Each site also has a grill, a picnic table, and a firepit. It’s so quiet and empty and peaceful during the week, and then practically fills up on the weekends. ATT had good service but the Verizon phone was roaming/ extended network. Still usable but slow and could not use the hotspot. 

  

This campground has one of our favorite dog parks. It’s nicely mowed, thick grass, beautiful surroundings, and huge. You can also rent a boat or kayak and spend the day on the lake- so fun! 

  

Sites without hookups are $28, and electric/water sites are $33. There is a dump station at the entrance, free for use by campers only.

Love this reliable park

The 20 amp electrical box was a bit finicky but we made it work. The host said the C loop had the oldest infrastructure. Nice big sites, LOTS of trees, good because it was HOT (90s) .  Lake was 80 % full, Rogue River was spectacular. Highly recommended!!
