Harris Beach State Park was named after the Scottish pioneer George Scott Harris who settled here in the late 1880s to raise sheep and cattle. The park boasts the largest island off the Oregon coast and is great camping near Portland. Bird Island (also called Goat Island) is a National Wildlife Sanctuary and breeding site for such rare birds as the tufted puffin. The park offers sandy beaches interspersed with rocky outcroppings harboring interesting tide pools with their wide variety of life. Sea stacks dot the ocean just off shore.

Harris Beach State Park Campground

We stayed here a week and we booked as far in advance as possible yet couldn't get a waterfront site.  BEST sites were #20 &amp; 24 good views and big sites. We were across from 20 and did see the water from our site # A19 but we backed up to the playground which is very busy &amp; loud. The camp hosts were nice &amp; sold firewood. 

  

We drove to the beach in the park &amp; walked the beach with big waves and some tidal pools. It wasn't too busy which was nice. 

  

There is a place not far from the park that was near Loeb state park it was a little hike with Giant trees and streams. No one was there which was real nice. 

  

Close to the CA. Redwoods National Park nice drive and the Redwoods are amazing. We drove thru the giant tree on the way back. 

  

We picked up some Dungeness crab off a boat they will cook it for you but we cooked it back at the campsite. They were big crabs got 3 and we could only eat 2, made  crab Alfredo the next night. 

  

We drove North to Gold Beach, nice drive stopped at viewpoints. 

  

went to Pacific Sushi it was excellent. A little pricey but good sushi.

Beautiful beach Lovely to walk on the sand, campsites are available and lots of friendly people. Beautiful sunsets! Best to reserve in advance as it fills up quick. Loop A has a great view and its about a 1/4 mile to the beach.

Am I in the Caribbean?

Harris Beach State Park is a large campground near Brookings, Oregon. It offers great beach access via trails directly from the campground. With hot showers (included in the campsite fees!) and clean bathrooms, this is a nice campground to spend several days at. There are a lot of RVs here, but the tent sites are in separate loops and have plenty of space for multiple tents.

We stayed at Harris Beach State Park for one night and lived our spot. We stayed in B09 and it was a nice secluded spot. We couldn't see our neighbors on either side as we were surrounded by lovely trees and shrubs. Very private and quiet. Showers were clean and had hot water too! We had a nice dinner on our camp stove of fresh grilled steelhead with fresh corn from a seafood shop right in town. You are only 2 miles north of Brookings which has adequate supplies in case you run out of something!

We will definitely be back!

Clean and close to the beach!

The campground is set off the beach some distance so you don't hear the waves or enjoy beach vibes from your site proper. The bathrooms and showers are heavily used and become a little dirty fast. Young able rangers come through and clean them although they don't dry before the next hoard comes through and dirties the place. The walk to the beach is down a long boardwalk and once you get there, there's a lot of folks and you must trudge very far for seclusion. There's not much privacy here and yet it's a merry atmosphere where people are hanging with the family and just happy to be out and about.

This is a awesome State Park. The campgrounds are crowded but there is so much foliage that you still feel very secluded in your camp spot. There is everything from full hook ups to tent sites. The best part about this park is the beach. It is a short walk down  an improved trail, but is well worth the walk. Beautiful flat sandy beach. b

Awesome Beach area

Came here on a June weekend and it was pretty rife with people. It was pleasant getting up around sunrise to take in the view unobstructed, but we did have a tough time finding a quiet moment at night during that particular weekend. 

Crowded, kind of like cannon beach.

On the second leg of a trek down the Oregon Coast (read "Southward-Bound Pt I" at South Beach State Park in Newport, Or), Harris Beach was a coastal gem. About a 1.25mi walk from the town of Brookings ([Oxenfrē Public House](https://www.oxenpub.com/) has a mouthwatering menu; [Chetco Brewing](http://www.chetcobrew.com/) has a newly opened tap room with GREAT micro brews &amp; stellar staff!).

Campground was full &amp; noisier than expected with MANY large groups/ families (folks there for, or in the midst of journeying north, for the eclipse). While the bathroom stalls do not exceed three, and the two sinks are close in quarter, the paths leading to the beach are a quick escape for campers seeking a wider berth from others.

There's a beach path for every type of person at this park. Some paths are quite narrow at certain points, some are paved all the way down to the sand; there's even a gravel/ dirt hybrid sunset trail for those just looking to stroll... Let me tell you though, exploring the beach will NOT disappoint! For all the coastal crags offshore, the panorama is breathtaking in every direction.

Overall, good for one or two nights. Decently maintained facilities.

Southward-Bound Pt II

Harris has several loops, with many fairly private spots. Nice restrooms. Short hike to... the ocean!

Very popular, so I suggest reserving ahead of time.

By the ocean, but close to town. 

I wish I could have stayed longer. Super close to Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor on the southern Oregon coast and 27 miles from the northern borders of Redwoods National Park. 1 mile from town. Lots of kids on bikes and families having a great time. One of the highlights of my month-long trip. Sites were fairly nartow but deep with mature vegetation. Would definitely go back!

Family friendly and fabulous location

This campground was super friendly and great for families with kids. The playground was huge. The trails to the beach were beautiful and the host gave a presentation about whales in the amphitheater in the evening. We would definitely stay again. 

Great Campground 

Absolutely an emaculate campground. This trip was the first time my husband and I were able to get both our 15 year old and 5 year old boys to both stay in our less than a year old bunkhouse camper. With several access points down to the shoreline, we enjoyed a nice day hike down to fly a kite. People of all ages were hiking up and down all of the rocks. Beautiful butte viewpoint trail allowed us to watch the sunset, just the 4 of us!

Great memories made and the pics will definetly go on our camper walls for years to come!

Family Trip to The Coast

[ PROS ]

*   Each site comes with a fire pit w/ grill and picnic table
*   Campsites have good privacy. Lots of lush greenery and bushes to separate them. Also, good shade to shield from the sun.
*   Great campsite for kids and family. There is a fantastic playground and the Rangers hold Junior Ranger activities twice a day.
*   Firewood is only $5 a bundle! The hours for purchase is limited but just make sure you pick them up from the camp host before 8pm
*   Harris Beach is so beautiful! There are a couple great trails to the beach and during low tide, you can explore the tide pools. We saw hundreds of hermit crabs, anemone, starfish, sculpin, and more. Sunsets are also phenomenal.
*   There are lots of cool rock formations, including the Arch Rock and Goat Island, that is really cool to check out. You can also hike up to the butte along the trail back to the campgrounds and there is a magical lookout.
*   The restroom and shower facilities are probably the best I’ve ever seen. Super new, well maintained, clean, and spacious. The Rangers do such a good job of cleaning them daily.
*   Only 2 miles from Downtown Brookings where it’s really convenient to pick up supplies or dine out. There is a large Fred Meyers nearby that is convenient. There is also a Saturday Market by the port and a Saturday Farmer’s Market in Harbor. Both are fun to check out.
*   Near the California and Oregon state lines. You can visit the state border and be in two states at once! Also, near Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park where you can see Redwoods (tallest trees on the planet). It doesn’t get any cooler than that.

[ CONS ]

*   Most campsites are rather small and can barely fit 2 tents
*   Careful of wild blackberry bushes everywhere! Lots of children and adults were scraped up by thorns when exploring the terrain.
*   Like most beach campgrounds, TONS of RVs. There are 65 full hookup sites + 29 sites with electrical compared to the 54 tent sites available. Be prepared to listen to generators and have large RVs block your view of nature.
*   There is a large lumber processing mill nearby so you hear loud noises (mechanical beeping and lumber falling) all hours of the night and day, 6 days a week (off Sundays). They start at 5am and end around midnight.

Product Review

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time - this weekend I tested out products from [Ethnotek](https://ethnotek.com/). Before I get into the specific products, I just have to say that I am a huge fan of the company’s values and mission. I love that the brand celebrates diversity and is supporting art and culture from around the world. The beautiful prints are inspired from different regions and honor the origins. They source the fabric and labor from villages in Ghana, India. Guatemala, Vietnam, and Indonesia, and each product comes a tag that tells you who made it. My bag was made by Vankar Shamji and his family in India! So happy to be part of the tribe!

[Cross Body Bag](https://ethnotek.com/collections/shoulder-bags/products/cyclo-cross-body-bag?variant=36898308622) - I chose the India inspired print  and I love the design. The fabric is beautiful and well made. It’s a good size for traveling and holding the essentials, but don’t expect to fit too much in. It’s perfect for passports, wallets, sunglasses, headphones, and other small items. I found it particularly useful at the airport. I love all the little compartments which makes it really easy to organize when you’re on the go. Even though it’s a small sling, the main roll up compartment surprisingly can be adjusted to hold a little more. I love the small document compartment that is great for holding brochures and travel guides that you don’t want bent. My favorite part are the two hidden zipper pockets! One has a small storage pocket, and the other one allows you to reach into the main compartment without having to unroll the top -- really clever and convenient design! Another great feature is the padded air mesh panel in the back of the sling. It helps ventilate and provide some airflow so you don’t get too hot when the sling is on your back. The padded mesh panel is also another compartment where you can stow away valuable items such as wallet, keys, etc. My one gripe about the bag is the nylon seatbelt strap because it loosens and slides. I have to constantly adjust the straps so it hangs at the right height that I want. After about 20 minutes of walking, it slowly slides out of place and I have to readjust the straps. Not a huge issue, just a little annoying.

[Padu Zipper Pouch](https://ethnotek.com/collections/accessories/products/the-padu-zipper-pouch?variant=39334360654) - I got this pouch in the same print and it fits perfectly inside the cross body bag and provides a little more organization. The zipper is high quality and works with easy. The inside of the has a good lining that makes it easy to see the contents of the pouch and clean. It’s surprisingly spacious and I was able to fit all my makeup inside. The pouch is really just a great additional accessory to the cross body sling and I love it!

Ranger Review: Ethnotek at Harris Beach State Park

This beach is a quick drive from Brookings, Oregon. It is clean, with beautiful geology and colors on the rocks that make a great background for photos. We witnessed a bride take photos with her groom while we were here!

Beautiful clean beach

We stayed at the campground in July and discovered quite a bit of street noise. Also, our site did not have enough trees for a hammock. I gave it two stars due to the great beach in walking distance. Really smooth sand, minimal wind, and great tide pools.

Loud

This is one of the prettiest State Park campgrounds along Oregons Southern Coast! Just off Hwy 101 and less than a mile north of Brookings, OR.

This campground has many Full hookup sites with plenty of tent sites too. All RV sites are paved with gravel around the picnic table and fire ring. Each loop has its own restrooms and showers which were well kept and very clean. A large playground is located in A loop and is a short walk really from any loop. There is an amphitheater with bench seating that ranger talks are hosted pretty much nightly. We attended one and had a great time watching a moving and learning about the local whales that frequent the coastline there. They offer Junior Ranger activities in a yurt directly across from the amphitheater. Unlike most of the Oregon State Parks we have visited it is only open for an hour 10-11 everyday, but still worth checking out with the kiddos. They do have firewood available to purchase in the campground as well for $5/bundle.

Camping here you are very close to the OR- CA border which makes trips to the Redwood National Park and Crescent City extremely easy. Trails through the Redwoods in Jedediah State Park and Ocean were great for the kiddos when we were not spending time on the beach at the campground.

We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be making a return trip!

Southern Oregon Coast Favorite

We decided to last minute to make a reservation at Harris beach because we took the coast home from Or to Wa because of all the fires and smoke. Luckily, there was a spot available and we were so happy to get anything. When we got there the fog pulled off the coast to reveal a beautiful rocky coastline. The sun was setting when got there and it was magical.

There was even a playground for the kids and we got a great site. The showers were clean facilities , hot showers and even a documentary on whales for the kids in the evening. I highly recommend this state park and will go back again and stay longer!

Right on the beach

Great spot just off 101 with beautiful views. The campground is well maintained and clean. Lots of trails around to explore that take you down to the beach.  Trailer and tent spots available. The place is a little crowded during the summer time but it is still a great spot right by the ocean. bathrooms and water hookups were available. This park is conveniently located north of Brookings. The beach has a paved ramp down to the beach

My husband and I came to spend one night in a tent site. The wonderful man working at the registration booth informed us there was one space left for the night. I wish we could remember his name! He was very informative about nearby campgrounds, restaurants, beaches, etc. We chose the site, (which was an R.V. site) and set up camp. The site was VERY exposed near the front entrance. Lots of noisy people, dogs and traffic, unfortunately we were up by dawn. We also went for an evening stroll to the beach, but were informed it's not allowed after dark. The wait for the showers was ridiculously long, but we realize it was a full campground. There is a HUGE raccoon/skunk infestation, so lock your things up and keep your dogs leashed. One other thing, we couldn't touch the ocean water because a raw sewage leak was reported... All of those inconveniences aside, the park is very clean, the beach and tidepools are beautiful, I recommend staying the day here and finding another place to camp.

We recommend day use only

so it a beautiful campground! very clean well maintained, great ppl, close to the ocean. But the sites are small well most of them, ours wasn’t to bad. highly trafficked VERY LOUD. the park is quit at 10 but there is a logging meal close and u hear it all night long its stupid.. we will not be staying here again. 

mixed Emotions

The campground is just off the highway about one mile north of Brookings.  The hike and bike area was set apart from the regular hookups for RVs and other vehicles.  Very clean restrooms and showers. Park rangers and camp hosts visited the hike and bike area often because of all the homeless coming from the nearby city.

Close to Town and Crowded

We ended up here when the campground we'd planned on in the Redwoods State Park of NorCal was closed for revamp. It was a great choice. The campsite was clean with hot showers available to everyone - a few stalls for each sex, but we used them after dinner w/no competition - &amp; yurts available to the few w/reservations, far (months) in advance. There are a couple hundred tent &amp; RV spaces, that by 4 p.m. for campsites are gone in the on-season. Calling ahead won't reserve you one (book online 24 hrs in advance) but they'll warn you how many are left so you don't dawdle (you'll want to, the coastline in this area is amazing). You're not secluded by any means (think Camp Curry in Yosemite) but it's not the treeless equivalents along the roadside to the south &amp; they do security runs on weekend nights to keep the noise level down. We slept well considering how many people were there. It's a stone's throw to a well populated beach and a 10 minute drive to a couple farm-to-table restaurants (one w/live music on weekends) to the south and spectacular, albeit precarious, trails with trailheads right off the roadside to the north that run through the forest to fantastic views of the cliffs and seascape. One of them has a 100 ft rope down to a secluded beach. We didn't attempt it with dog in tow. Fair warning - particularly for those with curious canine companions: there are resident skunks. Apparently we were occupying the pass-through of one, who made his presence know. The docent came with a flashlight, and after a 10 minute stand down, he was off to greener pastures.

Fully Accommodating (albeit not secluded)

Nicely located just a short walk to the beach, campsites are well maintained and have a woodsy feel to them. Conveniently located near town but not in town. Tide pools are a great learning experience for kids and during low tide lots of local ocean critters can be found under rocks and shallow pools.

Beachy 

If you are very lucky, you can snag one of about four campsites with awesome ocean views (A21-24, C1). We weren't but our tent site (no hookups) did have a partial ocean view! The sites can vary greatly at this campground - we saw some with parking pads so small, it would be lucky for a Prius to fit in it but we continued to drive around to find the site we landed in that was very generous in size. You can make reservations at this park. There is a big difference in price for a tent site ($20) versus a full hookup (including sewer, which we did not need) for $30. Nice day use area with a beautiful beach (what Oregon coast beach is not beautiful?) and a great place to see a sunset (we took the Butte Trail for a high up view but I think I would have preferred being at beach level). Restrooms were clean with warm air dryers. I had read reviews that logging trucks from the nearby logging company were very noisy; we did not experience that but our site was closer to the ocean and there were sites that were closer to the highway.

Access to beach! 

the ocean view is amazing like most of the oregon coast. our only issue with this campground was how popular it was. we went in february and all but the tent sites was packed. not much privacy, but still worth a visit.

Harris Beach is the last state park campground before you hit California heading south. It has all the amenities you need, along with a lot of people, rv's, kids, views of the ocean, a beautiful beach, some minor nature trails, and is right in town.

  

Hiker/Biker camp area is fenced off and a little separated from the rest of camp which is nice. REI sponsored storage boxes, USB charging stations, Bike Tools and Rack are available along with shared fire pits, picnic tables and scatter bike racks. The area is fairly open to other hiker/bikers but with shade and close to the ocean.

  

One of the biggest highlights of the camp amenities is that the showers DON'T HAVE TIMED PUSH BUTTONS! Meaning you have to push the button every 35 seconds to keep the water flowing. It is just a regular shower knob so you can stand there like a normal person. Makes a huge difference after a long day of riding or hiking. 

  

There is a lot of beach, and some minor nature trails leading down to it. There are some benches along the trails that make for great wine drinking spots. The main campground area is packed in mid-june even during the early part of the week. Lots of families, groups and RVS. Town is only a few blocks away so there seem to be quite a lot of people who make this a meet up for family reunions. Not really camping but a nice camp all the same. And despite it's location town there have been recent bear sightings so keep an eye out.

Last Chance Camp in Oregon. 

This place is beautiful. We only had a tent and it’s fit us perfectly. 2adults 2kids and our dog. All the spots here are great and pretty spacious. The beach is a ten minute walk and both walks we took were breath taking! Everyone we met were very friendly and had great knowledge of the park seeing that it was our first time. Definitely make a reservation. We were driving from Arizona thinking we would be able to camp anywhere but every place in California were booked. 

Words can’t describe 

What a find. Got a tent site at the last minute as we drove up 101 Coast Highway.  Great spot off the main road and close to the restroom.  Unfortunately the showers were closed but the restrooms were great.  This campground is close to Harris Beach, This is a great beach for walking and Sunsets.

Great Sunset spot

We thoroughly love the Brookings area and especially this state park. The views have been beyond our hopes. The facilities are very nice and well maintained -even with COVID reductions.

Had to pay extra $8/night out of state fees, but still worth it.

Because registration bldg was not manned we picked out a site that did not indicate reserved, and paid for 2 nights with envelope but were told we’d have move after 1st night because it was reserved. It would have been better to indicate on site that reservations were pending on  so we would have known up front, or found a site open for our two nights. 

We will be back again.

An unexpected wintertime gem

Excellent campground.  The showers are free,clean and have heaters. The spots are nice with the bushes and trees making them semi private. A quick walk takes you to the beach. You can hear the waves crashing from the campsite. Very dark at night. Excellent for stargazing, not so much for setting up after dark. The people were very friendly. 

Review of Campground Harris State Park

We were looking for something more dispersed but this was nice. C loop was first come, pay in the envelope, easy enough. C4 was a nice quiet spot, full hookup, near warm private showers and bathrooms. There were more open spots without trees to give more privacy so if you want more cover head to the back loops. Close to town with lots of restaurant options. 1 minute drive down to the beach to run the doggies and check out beach goodies. We also drove up to national redwood forest trail for a beautiful 1 mile hike. Very nice and efficient spot!

Nice location

Tent sites in the woods with the beach a few minutes walk away. Bathrooms were clean and showers were hot. For 20 bucks a night it was worth the price. 

Just a walk from the beach

We were neophytes at the van life, and were lucky to get a mid-afternoon walk-in site here with very little advance research.  A friendly volunteer helped us get oriented and checked in, and the fee was well worth it - nice hot showers, convenient restrooms, and especially, four ospreys hunting along the beach a short and pretty trail away!   The dramatic sea stacks, raptors and breeding seabirds here, along with shady vegetation, made this a winner for us.  It's not the most private campground, but we appreciated much else about it.

A little gem on an outstanding beach

We got lucky and got a spot for the whole weekend in mid June. We think someone must have canceled their reservation after they saw the weather forecast of solid rain, because the campground was otherwise booked solid. 

  

This is a beautiful campground, there are lots of sites and they are close together but they are nicely separated by greenery.  Close walk to the beach.  There is mixed recycling here!  But like all of Oregon they sadly don't accept glass.

  

The hiker / biker sites are really cool - there are storage lockers, bike racks to lock your bike to, and a little bike repair station. See photos.

Huge place

Highly recommend this site. Nearby the beautiful Samual Boardman scenic corridor, this park has an incredible beach with sea stacks. The actual site is well maintained and very nice! 

  

My wife and I camped at several spots along the Oregon coast and this was our favorite.

Randomly stopped in this area to take a breather from driving and to put an eyeball on the beach. Ended up creeping into the first come first serve area and decided to stay the night. Amazing beach just a few minutes from the campground. 10/10 would recommend

Relaxing Coastal Campground

Wow is this campsite crowded. There is not a lick of privacy between even the tent sites. The picture attached shows our firepit and how close the neighbor is to us. There are strange intentional openings between all the sites as well that makes it even less private.
Loud, loud, loud. From the highway nearby to the absolute chaos of 100s of campers. 
The absolute opposite of why I like camping. I live in a big city and my neighbors there aren’t even as close as this.

This was a great camp ground. The beach was a close walk the sites were a large size. The bathrooms were clean

January on the coast 

This camping spot is right on a Cliffside to the ocean. The views are amazing. We hung at the beachba day. Hiked around another day. There is plenty of parking for RVs and they even have a free dump 😉

Beautiful!

We camp here often. The campground is delightful with hookups for our trailer. Some spots have ocean views. It’s close to town and the harbor. Another of our favorites. We have been here many times and stayed in many sites. The weather is usually nice any time of year. Chilly but beautiful winters, and pleasant summers. It’s also a good base campground to explore Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor which has many interesting and beautiful spots.

Very reasonably priced - $20 a night for tent spot. Access to state pale from camping area. Found a first come first served spot on Thursday in November. Some Verizon signal. Showers are free. You can hear some hwy 101 traffic but it does down at night.

Cool beach, nice sites, clean bathrooms, and close to Brookings and other site seeing places.

Would stay again

Great location close to Brookings.  There was some construction going on while we were there so it was a bit noisy at night.  Our site was pretty small and barely had enough room for our 6 person tent.  The bathrooms were very clean and the beach is amazing! Be prepared for some wind though and bring guy lines for your tent.

The many, many positives

→ It’s super, duper clean.
→ The roads and campsites are black-top paved.
→The bathrooms and showers are not only clean but pretty!
→ The showers are divine. The showers are free! (I just got here from CA campgrounds where all showers are pay showers.) The water is ALWAYS hot. The water pressure is insane. You never have an “oh, someone must be flushing a toilet” moment. The shower rooms aren’t cold!
→ There’s a dump station with water fill that’s free.
→ The campsites are pretty private.
→ Our campsite had water and power. What a luxury.
→ The proximity to the beach which is gorgeous!

The one negative

→ It’s such a great campground that it books up quick. We only stayed one night.

Crazy nice campground 

Very helpful hosts &amp;rangers. Had a few open spots when we showed up without a reservation. 

Clean bathrooms, hot showers (caution: the showers close at 8pm for the night). Nice little playground area. 

Did NOT have any cell service (despite what this app says above.)

Walkable to trails &amp; beaches. Definitely recommend Samuel H Boardman scenic corridor while you are in the area. 

Loved it! 

This was our first visit to the south coast. The campground is conveniently located just outside Brookings, but is just off the highway. You do get some highway noise. The facilities are ok - there aren't many showers, and the hours were extremely restricted. They were locked by 7 or 8 pm, which is odd.  Also, firewood sales ended at 6 pm, which isn't very convenient. The host made an exception for us one day, but still.  The beach is really nice, with great scenery and tidepools to explore.

Nice campground, conveniently located

On the southern Oregon coast. Large trees and nice campsites. Some with spectacular views of the rugged coast. Water and electric hookups at most. Clean restrooms and showers. A little highway noise.

Nice Park with great views and beach

This campground had multiple park hosts on site and they were right on top of emptying the trash bins and other maintenance. The bathrooms have free hot showers that are open until 10pm (during my September stay anyway) and are very clean. Flush toilet stalls and hot water sinks and hand dryers were all well maintained during our stay. I had Verizon cell coverage at my campsite that worked well enough to look up things to do in town. Our site had water and trash nearby so we didn’t have far to walk to use them. There are trails down to the beach and up to a neat lookout point that was very popular at sunset. This park seems to be very busy, with the majority of campers being trailers, RVs, and camper vans. We camped in a tent site between two other friends in tent sites and there wasn’t any vegetation for privacy between our three sites but that was fine since we picked these sites based on the campground’s website photos and knew what we were getting into. There was vegetation surrounding the sites at either end of us so I’m sure there are more private spots elsewhere in the park. I do have to say in the back of the B loop where we were at there was noise from the nearby lumber mill all night long but it wasn’t enough to keep us awake at night. Over all we were happy with our experience and would stay here again. 

Great park for casual campers

Harris Beach State Park is very popular and busy. The camp spots are close together with little privacy between them.  However the RV spots have water and electric and some even sewer. The bathrooms are clean with free showers and the location on the edge of Brookings can't be beat. Same amenities as close by private parks at 1/2 the price. 

Busy but nice 

Sites small though so be careful of that. Also sometimes pad is at 90 degree angle with a lot of obstacles. Also note all tires have to be on pavement so no chance of parking next to trailer. Choose wisely. 

Beautiful location and camp

My family and I got a Yurt here and enjoyed this park.  One thing I found weird was the yurt only had a code and no key, we found it frustrating using a code to go in and out every time.  It is a very large park so make sure you have a park map(I’ll add one with the pictures).  The privacy is kind of there, you can still hear your neighbors, but can get privacy while on your porch.  Tent sites had very little privacy like most coast places.  There are only 3 pet friendly yurts so keep that in mind.  There are playgrounds, and other places to do activities.  There are also multiple quick ways to the beach.  Showers are locker room style and are segregated male and female.  One negative I saw was they don’t really prioritize cleanliness there.

**General:** A mix of tent sites, electric sites, FHU sites, and yurts. 

  

**Site Quality:** Varies depending on the type of site and location. All camper pads are paved but they vary in length, with some being very short. The allowed length is indicated on the map, although I cannot recall if I saw this information while making online reservations. Many in the D Loop as well as some in the C Loop are close to 101 and you will hear road noise. IMO, the best sites are A20– 24 and C1 but you have a better chance of winning the lottery than securing one of these sites (I tried at least 7-8 times beginning with the earliest date to reserve to snag one with no luck). We had two sites during our stay and both of them, while different, were wonderful. Site D5-3, a tent site, had three parking spaces in front of the site but we were able to park our campervan horizontally in the three level spaces to best take advantage of the site. Although you could not see the ocean from this site, you can hear it. This site would be good for a small group traveling together with several tents. Our other site (A27) was a FHU and very spacious with foliage on both sides providing plenty of privacy. 

  

**Bath/Shower House:** All were clean, and the showers were great – good water pressure and almost immediate hot water. 

  

**Activities/Amenities:** There are several trails that lead you to viewpoints and a gorgeous and rocky beach. There is also a bike path and bike helmet rentals are available (riders under age 16 are required to wear helmets), as well as firewood from 4-7 pm daily. There is a very nice playground. In the summer, junior ranger programs are offered for ages 6-12 and there are evening campfire programs. The scenic 12-mile Samuel Boardman State Scenic Corridor with hiking trails and overlooks; the south end is just three miles north of the park. 

  

We were last at this campground six years ago and loved returning as it is one of our favorite Oregon state parks.
