Campground is open from about April 15 - Oct. 31, weather permitting. Camping may open earlier or stay open longer depending on winter weather. Check park advisories on this page for updates, or call the park. Camping is first-come, first-served during the months of April and October.

Farewell Bend State Recreation Area

It is very hot there so get a campground with at least one big tree, we hung out under our tree. The camp rangers were nice and helpful. They had a ice machine , I was grateful for that. In some areas the grass is dry so take a tarp to put under your tent. The reservoir was huge. It was muddy in some spots but once you get out there its clean , just take water shoes. There is a lot of mosquito so take lot of bug spray but that was the only thing that was bad.

Spacious and clean

The park is large and the sites are well spaced. You can walk down the long grass to the river and down steps to the water. Or just sit around camp and squirrel watch! Perfect place to stay if you want to start the next day by cruising right past Boise! It's the only real oasis for miles around.

Very pleasant place to camp

Living in Idaho near the border of Idaho, I was looking for a great catfishing spot on the Snake River. I found this campground along the Snake just on the other side of the border - eastern Oregon. The campgrounds are AWESOME!!! The have all the amenities for RV camping. They do have tent camping sites as well. There is some great history of the area and we were appreciative of how the State Park system displayed it. Great fishing for the shore angler as well as boat anglers. I fished from my kayak and caught crappie and catfish as well as some smallmouth bass. I would definitely camp here again. They do have a dump station for RVs as well as restrooms. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table.

Just a Hop Skip and Jump away from Idaho

This is a site with a blend of tent, drive in, and full hook up sites. Easy access to trailheads and the host is cool with plenty of great suggestions for exploring off the usual places. There are two main sections of about 30 sites each with reserved and walk up sites. The camp is super busy on weekends but great mid week. The hike to the confluence is good and goes deep into some canopy growth sections that are perfect. The trail ran along the river with ample opportunity to actually rest and soak your feet or do some earthing. The team is super cool an evening and morning yet wam days bordering on hot. A magical little spot, $23 bucks for a camper van spot. A bargain at three times the price.

Bliss in Oregon

This was a welcome respite for a weary traveler. The sites and facilities were clean and spacious. The views of the Snake River were fantastic and the interpretive Oregon Trail exhibit is interesting. 
The ONLY drawback is a bit of highway noise, as the campground is just a few hundred feet from I84, but, hey, that’s also why it was so convenient!

Though not free like the dispersed camping the dog and I were doing the days before this, it was a treat to have warm showers, bathrooms, a fenced dog exercise area, the security of other campers, and a picnic table to cook on.
I stayed in a more "isolated" campsite with a tree screen from the other sites, because my dog is very protective. But it looked like there were great view sites further in the campgrounds, for those who don't need the privacy.
There was easy river access from the camp and you can hear the coyotes yipping in the morning.

A treat after dispersed camping

This is a very nice campground along the Snake River. There are lots of trees, lots of grass and shade. Places to go fishing as well.  Perfect spot for a weekend camping trip.

Farewell bend is on the Snake River and has plenty Oregon Trail history to boot. It has shade trees, which is special for the area. Not much privacy. It has good bathrooms, water access, and nice views of the surrounding hills. It has a huge day-use area with lots of picnic tables near the water.

History, water, and an easy stop off the highway

Farewell bend is a day use state park and campground located near Huntington Oregon and nestled on the Snake River. 

The park is a dry desert setting with yellowing grasses, tall spiny trees and sand dunes. The snake river is a deep emerald green flowing with foam from the upriver reservoir. 

The campground has three large loops that can accommodate the largest of personal busses down to the classic sleeping bag. There are electric and water connections, a sewer dump and a boat launch. There are a couple of rentable waterfront cabins available on C-loop. 

Many fisherman come here to enjoy the well stocked waters, keep an eye out for the other river wildlife commonly seen, rattle snakes. Other water sports are welcome here, boating and waterskiing happens all day long. The dunes across the river are a popular off-road and motorized fun location. 

The river is pretty much inaccessible from the campgrounds, the day use area allows for access to the rocky beach, but the waters edge is not clean sadly, polluted with litter and river foam. 

The park is a very warm and sunny Oregon escape with little to no cellular service. 

Riverside desert experience

We stayed here a night in our RV on the way through during Cycle Oregon. It's a nice campground in a scenic spot. I appreciated all the history displays regarding the Oregon trail that passed right through there.

This is a great state park located just off I-84.  It's far enough away from the interstate so you don't hear the noise of the traffic.  Its a large campground with some spots over looking Brown Lee reservoir.  The water level was very low but in the spring the boat ramp would be accessible.  I travel through this area frequently and will use it again as a pit stop if needed.  I visited at the end of summer so the weather was pleasant, but this area can get very hot in the summer and there wasn't that much shade.

We spent one hellaciously windy night here. I'm sure it's great when it's not windy. Nice views, nice moon-rise in the evening. All was great until around sunset when the winds kicked up. Tough with a tent. But, that's the way it is in the West. enjoyed walking near the river with the dog though. Otherwise peaceful evening.

On the river - some very separated comp spots. 

Super beautiful and huge campground. Not far from bend or crater lake. The campground is huge there is 61 site total. Very sweet camp host you can buy wood from. Great bathrooms, water stations, and trash cans (as well as recycling)!!!!! There’s benches and fire rings. Some sites also have grills. Right on the river a lot of people were fishing.

Large campground in a grassy area with scattered trees. Fairly open with sites close together, but some sites have hedges in between. The campground was about half filled during our weekday stop.

User Friendly Campground

Close to the hwy (which does mean some noise), but very handy if you just need a place to pull in. The staff were very friendly. The sites were situated well. The lake however was very low, so not much to see there. The views around the park were nice. 

Good location for a stop over

We've seen this campground from afar while traveling on I-84 through Oregon.  Decided to make it our first stopover on our fall road trip.

Peaceful campground on the Snake River and quiet in late September, mid-week.  Worked well for us.  Water &amp; Electric allowed us to travel light our first day.  We'd stay again.
