Located in eastern Ohio, Salt Fork State Park encompasses a diverse and beautiful landscape featuring forested hills, open meadows and misty valleys decorated with winding streams. This magnificent state park is Ohio’s largest state park, with 17,229 acres of recreational facilities available to visitors. Salt Fork State Park camping is possible at more than 200 individual campsites, open year-round.

Salt Fork State Park Campground

This park is very well groomed and most of the trails within the park had been cleared of vegetation so there was no fighting through the weeds. There are a number of good hikes within the park. We were there Columbus weekend and it was hopping but everyone quieted by 10.

Wonderful Park

Just driving in saw turkeys and "turkets":) and two 6 point bucks. You can hike, swim, boat, bike and horseback ride. Primitive tent camping all the way to upscale lodge stays. Electric camper hookups and shower house. In August there is "Deerassic Expo" event, right outside the front drive! Plus!! A lot of other smaller park "gems" nearby.

A little bit of everything!

**Salt Fork State Park** is worth coming back to :) The weather is a bit chillier then last time and the campground very quiet. Seems to be mostly hunters set up in the C campsite area and a few in the A campsite near us.

The change of season brings a very different atmosphere to the park and the people staying in it. The facilities are still well maintained and the washer and dryer I’m pretty sure are older then me but they do the job. The park staff are very holiday minded and a cheerful group.

The Trailhead’s located throughout the area give you a good workout on the hilly terrain and offer some awesome fall scenery.

Deerasic across the road has a schedule of events and the water recreation though limited is still available.

**Dog park!!** and right on the lake!! Found this by mistake on our way out, and the dogs loved it. Access to lake, a beach, well fenced. I would give Salt Fork SP extra stars for this one, especially if there were campsites co-located.

Camp ground is easily accessible being just 6 miles from I70, leaving the convenience of Cambridge and city amenities close by while allowing for great trails and solitude. Stayed in campground A, and the front end has little shade, but being here in autumn was perfect for lots of sunshine on site. Sites with trees for tree tents is minimal. Drinking fountains are dispersed fairly frequently throughout campground, but RV hookups with water were limited during my stay. Shower houses and comfort houses all have flushers and sinks.

TICK WARNING!!!! After a morning hike down wooded Trail, we spent A LONG TIME pulling ticks from dogs...even though the temps were in the 30's overnight and everyone was treated with flea &amp; tick protection.

We drove to Salt Fork from North Carolina on our way to Maumee Bay State Park and the birding festival at Magee March. It was just a quick overnighter, but we did take a little time to walk and bird. The campground was 80% empty, very quiet except for some late-night traffic on the county road nearby, loud pickup trucks. The park is well cared for but is showing its age. I noticed online that Ohio had set aside $88M for upgrades in 2016\. It looks like they have not started yet. We stayed here again on the way home. It is a very good birding hotspot in the spring!

Stopover

we stayded here in jun of 2017 and it rained allmost the entire time but from what we could tell it was a very clean place we did get yo walk a few trails for abour 1 hr and see some wildlife and go yedi hunting haha but other than that we played games in the camper make the best of it  we will be going back

I took our popup camper here with the family for a weekend and had a great experience. The camp has lots of RV type spots with electric hookups. There are also several "primitive" spots available for tent camping. Reserving a spot is super easy with the park's online reservations.

The park has lots of activities including several nice hiking trails, a playground, late night movies for the kids on Saturdays in the summer, and a really great beach on the lake (with shower houses!) There is water available all throughout the campsite area at several faucets as well as bathrooms and a shower house, both of which were clean and in good working order.

I highly recommend this park for any kind of RV camping and will likely return in the future.

A Great Place for Some Family Camping

Lots of great sites to pick from, lots of loops, shady sites , secluded sites, handicap sites and more. We go at least once a year for the Ohio Bigfoot Conference which draws people from all over the country. The bathrooms are good, the shower houses are good and the campground store has anything you may have forgotten. Friendly staff, hiking trails, boating and more. They have horse camping and trails further down the road and a primitive loop on Bigfoot Ridge. So much to see and do a weekend isn't long enough.

A must see park the lake holds incredible fishing including some of the best Muskie fishing in the state! Campgrounds are incredible with something for everybody including primitive camping and horseman’s camping! You will see an abundance of wildlife from deer to bobcats to eagles!

Absolutely stunning

Lots of places to camp &amp; explore. Trails near the water are incredible. Amazing family campground. The kids had a blast there and we will be back!

Huge park

This is a huge park and for us that was a drawback.  We like everything close so when we want to explore the park we had to drive every where.  To the camp store , lodge, the Stonehouse and the gem mining.  The beach and putt putt were also something you had to drive too.  This area is know for Bigfoot siting and it was entertaining to listen to people talk about the active area.  The Stone house cottage was fun so the the cave that we explored.  We didn’t take advantage of that lake but I know that’s a main attraction for a lot of people.  It looked nice we just don’t not or fish.  

Bigfoot Area

This is an awsome state park.  Personally, it is definitely a favorite and I think it is one of the best in the state.  Large lake allows for all types of boating.  Has large campground only beach and plenty of hiking trails/destinations.  Site are packed together like other parks and majority are large and level.  We stayed in G loop (G33) and were more than satisfied with the site.  Will be returning for sure!

Top Notch Park

Friendly staff bailed us out when I found that I booked the wrong site. Boat rental is pricy, but there’s lots to see, especially if you have a Big Foot fan in the group. 

Other campers were friendly, but there’s also enough space if you want to be alone. The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. No complaints at all—we’ll definitely be back.

Salt Fork State Park is Amazing!!
There is 'something for Everyone' here; from the lodge, golfing, boating, fishing, hiking, camping, trail rides, hunting, pontoon boat rides, boat and kayak rentals, primitive camping, camping with your horses, a beach, and numerous other options!!
If your BRAVE enough, You can explore 3 different known areas where Bigfoot has been sighted, on numerous occasions, thru the years!! 

Fabulous, Numerous Activities!! 

This park is huge! There are several areas to pay for camping as well as primitive camp. It’s near the water and they offer several trails. Other than the trails, there is a stone house to view as well as a cave. We explored both and thought they were both interesting. 
The paid sites are pretty close together and unless you find a spot close to the showers, it’s quite the commute. 

Lots to see and do! 

Nice lodge with pool. Pet hedgehog worked the front counter. Bigfoot stuff everywhere. Okay trails.

Typical state park

There are a lot of great full hook up sites here.  Great for families and couples alike.  It is a state park so if you are looking for a full blown activities schedule that is not going to happen.  But the park is super nice and well taken care of.  Private boat marina and beech for the campers.  And the lake is very clean. Shower houses are clean and all have coin operated laundry in them

Stayed in G17 for the weekend. Electric site, full sun/no shade.  Always a great time at Salt Fork Campground! Conveniently located to private beach and boat ramp. Facilities are clean and well maintained.
