A Camp Store offers supplies, firewood, ice, concessions, novelties, and kayak rental seasonally.
Caesar Creek Lake is located in southwest Ohio, centered between Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus. Visitors flock to Caesar Creek Lake for its great fishing, boating, Visitor Center and trail opportunities. Natural Features: Caesar Creek Lake is home to many different wildflower prairies throughout the park which offer views of native wild prairie flowers, insects and bird species. Caesar Creek Lake is also home to more than 50 miles of trails including the 13 mile backpack trail which takes you to a scenic overlook of Horseshoe Falls. Recreation: Caesar Creek Lake offers excellent boating, water skiing and canoeing. Anglers fish for crappie and trophy muskie. The shelter is close to the Visitor Centers courtesy dock, allowing for easy shoreline fishing or to launch a kayak. Also, the shelter is within a short walking distance to the Caesar Creek Lake Visitor Center which offers exhibits, films and information about the lake and Corps missions in the Ohio Valley. Visitors can also take advantage of the new Adena Trace fitness trail with 9 workout stations over a mile loop as well as 50 miles of additional hiking, mountain biking, and bridle trails. Facilities: Each shelter is located near the Caesar Creek Visitor Center where a 24-hour indoor heated and cooled restroom can be found. Many shelters also offer some of the largest playground areas found at Caesar Creek Lake. Each shelter also offers two cooking grills and both electric and water are provided with reservation. Nearby Attractions: Caesar Creek Lake offers 50 miles of hiking, mountain biking, bridle and archery trails. Caesar Creek Pioneer Village offers a collection of over 15 log cabins and other structures that are open during special events. Caesar Creek Nature Center is adjacent to the Pioneer Village; the nature center features exhibits on the areas cultural and natural history.

Caesar Creek State Park Campground

We were drive up campers for the night - side note, Caesars Creek no longer allows for camping on their trails. There were three different loops that allowed for drive up camping without reservations. The end of the E loop is where we found a great spot with trees on either side. The non-reserve only sites on this loop seemed much more friendly for tent campers due to having shade whiled the rest of the loop was pretty unsheltered from the sun.

Luckily we got into camp near the end of the day and had time to grab a meal then head to bed. We heard from people that we needed to watch out for raccoons but none crossed our path as far as we know. Fell asleep looking at the stars. The visibility permitted for us to see a good number of stars. We got to watch the big dipper cross the sky.

There is a camp store that has firewood available for purchase - warning, the wood was not quick to light so be prepared to get small twigs to start the fire.

There are a large number of grey water disposal stations, a potable water station near the bathroom, clean bathrooms with several stalls, sinks and 3 showers. A lot of people had their bikes with them so I'm assuming that it is very bike friendly.

There are at least canoe/kayak rentals for the lake and night rentals available during special events. Fossil hunting is available on the lake, you need to get a free permit to fossil hunt from the visitors center.

Reservations can be made on the phone or on the internet.

You have to call Cowan lake to reserve group sites that are located elsewhere on the lake. The Caesars Creek Marina has the phone number and more information.

Great Stars, hiking & boating; clean bathrooms, 

My grandchildren wanted me to take them camping at Caesar Creek, which is only about ten miles from their house. One of the big attractions for them was the lake and I know there have been some issues with water quality, so I called in advance to make sure everything would be good for the weekend.

The office was manned by a couple of mopey teenagers who didn't seem to understand the concept of customer service. The site pad was tiny (and I'm lousy at backing up my trailer), and sloped very severely. The sites were packed like sardines, and there was almost no shade. The buildings were old and poorly maintained, and what maintenance had been done was done sloppily.

We suffered through Friday night knowing that we'd have a fun Saturday at the beach. However when we got there we found a permanent sign saying the bacteria levels were too high for children. They couldn't have told me that when I called?!?!?!

I actually paid for this?

Our family camped for 3 nights at site 268 and 269 . The sites are spacious with plenty of room for cornhole games . Showers were nice and hot and bathrooms were clean. Had a good time at the beach and caught a few fish at a couple different fishing spots. Overall good times, except the raccoons stole our hot dog buns we had sitting on the picnic table for literally 5 minutes while we cooked our hot dogs. It was a little too busy for my liking on Friday night , but Wednesday and Thursday we basically had the loop to ourselves!

Caesar Creek State Park 

nice big sites with plenty of room to stretch out. clean bathrooms and showers. There is a great trail system through the woods that will take you all over the place. if you are a runner you can link them all together for a beautiful lakeside run through the woods. 

Plenty of Space!

We camped this past weekend at the Cedar Point group camping area. to be clear, this is completely separate from the regular campground and is in a completely different area of the lake. Group camping is reserved through the park office and is currently $75/night for up to 75 people. It includes access to public restrooms (flush toilets and sinks) but no electricity or showers. Mainly for tents but they allowed a pop-up camper parked in the parking lot (you cannot drive on the grass-they will ticket you). Site also had a huge picnic pavilion with 11 picnic tables, a fire pit area with benches and 2 charcoal grills.
Specific to the Cedar Point campsite: There was not much shade in the campsite. I was hoping to hang my hammock in the trees but there was a lot of honeysuckle surround the campsite so I ended up not putting it up. This site has access to the water down a steep hill or a short hike to the point for a beach and easy swimming access. The main portion of campsite is at the top of a hill which was good in that it provided privacy but was challenging hiking everything up (especially firewood).  We had a big cookout Saturday evening with extra people joining us and this was a great space for all our activities.
Overall, this was a great camping experience!

Group Camping ⛺️

There is a nice lake, good hiking, close to waynseville. Family friendly, good nature center and ability to look for fossils.

Good for hiking, families

A simple and large campground with lots of sites. The sites are big and fairly spread out but nothing between the sites to give privacy. Easy access to the lake and lots of walking trails, seems like a great place for families. We were just passing through and looking for a place to relax for a few days.

Lots of clearly marked trails with beautiful views of the lake! Huge area, also designated hunting grounds!

Large, quiet campground with trails and a lake. Clean shower houses throughout the campground. There is a small beach for swimming and a boat ramp at the lake. The sites are big and roomy. Plenty of room for a camper, tents, and outdoor games (cornhole, Kan jam, etc). The sites do not have much shade with trees lining the back. We stayed on site 189 and liked the size and location. 

Caesars Creek site 189 

We stayed at site #51 this weekend. The site was was large and grassy, just not a lot of shade. There is nothing to separate the sites so your neighbors can see and hear everything. They have flush toilets and showers, but the bathhouses are not very big. The non-handicap stall was very, very small. Lots of places to get water if needed.    The campground has a ton of hiking trails within itself and mountain bike trails too. We did buy wood at the camp store and it was horrible. I would recommend bringing your own. The fire rings were good and the camper pads were pretty level. Dogs are welcome in most sites and they do have full hookup as well. We did have a raccoon up in the tree next to us but it didn’t bother us. 

Big Grassy Sites, Little Shade

The park itself is giant, it ranges from the Gorge to the Fossil Collecting Area, to the campground and lake itself, and also Pioneer Village. Pioneer Village is like a miniature blast from the past as you walk around an entire village of homes and other little gems of the town. Upcoming they will have a pancake brunch and even an Easter egg hunt for the family! You can also go fossil collecting once you get a permit to do so, lots of fun! The Gorge has trails that connect to this area as well, and the Gorge is a beautiful place to just unwind and relax as well as walk trails. Huge Park with Lots of Hidden Adventures 🌼

We camped here for the first time during Fourth of July weekend and it was very busy. The park was very clean and nice our site was very big and we had plenty of space from the neighboring site. The pad at our site was starting to crack and break apart which did cause us to have to move our pop up a little so we were level. The bathrooms were very clean and updated. We saw the host go in there every morning and make sure it was clean. They have a washer and dryer in one of the building connected to one of the bathrooms if you need it. A lot of the sites seem to be in direct sun though. We drove around before leaving and it seems majority are direct sun not a lot of shade anywhere. They have a small playground for kids that was closed due to corona but looked nice from what I could see. There is a swimming beach close to the camping area but it is not very big and that is also where a lot of kayakers drop in and get out. The camping beach unfortunately had a lot of trash from people leaving their trash and a lot of debri washes up on that beach from the boats. We did not go to the other side to the actual beach so I don’t know what it looked like. The park has a ton of hiking trails and on the other side of the lake is a area you can search for fossils. My daughter had a great time would go back again for sure... 

Nice place 

Pros and Cons to this park...lots of hiking trails, beautiful lake and very clean large sites.  The down side is there is a lot to due but the park is so spread out you have to drive everywhere. 
We went to visit the Pioneer Village ( building were closed due to COVID ) but we were still able to walk around the buildings.  Also they have a spillway where you can collect fossils which was really cool but the village and spillway were both about 20 minutes from the campground.  
I just don’t like parks where you have to drive everywhere.  I like it when all of the attractions are within walking or biking distance.  
We did like the campground and will definitely come back.  They had good Verizon coverage which is something we now have to pay attention to since my husband works remotely.  


Large Park

Located within an afternoon’s drive of downtown Dayton and Cincinnati, this park makes the perfect weekend getaway from the day to day grind. Located on a large reservoir, the state park has everything from boating, hiking and mountain biking to just sitting around the campground not doing much. 

  

One important thing to think about with this state park is site selection. For a park surrounded by trees and forest the campsites offer a surprising dearth of shady maples for the sites. On first visit, one might suppose this was a young park, newly cleared for recreational purposes, but upon visiting some 20 years later, one would be disappointed at the lack of opportunity taken for shade production. Most of the sites nearer the lakeshore or cul-du-sacs, have adequate shade. 

  

The bathhouse was kept very clean, even when it was pretty busy.  Overall, the place was pretty quiet despite the number of campers there.

Easy Drive from the City

This campground has a huge lake. The campground itself has a different access point than the state park. If you have a boat in our camping this is a really nice feature. We had a spot at the end of a loop in the cul-de-sac area. Those spots are the largest by far. They can fit about 3 to 4 RVs, although not permitted. We were camping in the early spring, 
So there wasn’t a lot of foliage yet. Hopefully in the summer there’s more shaded areas￼

Great stay

Stayed four nights. We were in a loop with lots of trees. Campsite was quite large. Sites back onto very thick foliage and woods. Keep everything well secured from an army of racoons.

Nice campground. Loop F most trees, nice and shady. Our site was very private. Adequate shower house and clean. We drove over to shower in Loop A-updated showers! No dishwashing stations if you need that. Great hiking trails through the woods. 12min from RenFair-a lot of fun! Waynesville-antique Mecca of Ohio-meh, not so much. 

Great campground

We met friends here last week and we’re happy we found this campground. First, they have excellent, helpful staff. Good amenities, well kept and patrolled park so you feel safe. Another major reason we will be back, the sites aren’t stacked on top of each other. The best space I’ve seen in long time. 

Great Campground

Nice, Friendly and clean campground. The showers have some odd pressure and temp controls but that’s the only negative thing. They had activities for the kids (memorial weekend) like movie night, kayaking excursions, etc. 

We stayed on site 263, all sites seem to be set up for RVs, so all sites are virtually on the road, not a make or break it but we prefer to our tent to be tucked back a little. It’s a large site, it has a little ravine where the water runs off which angles our tent a bit. So the site is smaller than it looks but still large enough for our family of 5 plus a large dog. 

There are hiking trails and mountain bike trails all over. There is a pathway between our site and the next site that leads down to the lake. It’s easy enough for us to haul our kayak and dinghy boat up and down with the kids help. 

Weekend fun

The lake is great, and the sites were clean with a lot of bathrooms nearby. Not many sites with shade, so for tents it was strategic to not be in the sun all day. 

Bathrooms were typical, maybe a step below average. 

No real complaints, just not as great as others.
