Poplar Point offers 579 sites for RV and tent camping; 363 sites have water and electric hookups. Each site includes a picnic table, grill, and lantern holder. Showers, restrooms, trash containers and a dump station are conveniently located. Please note that all sites at Poplar Point Loop E are walk-up and can be booked only when you arrive at the campground.

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is a collective of nine access areas scattered around the shoreline of this undeveloped, 14,000-acre reservoir. More than 1,000 campsites among five of the access areas offer a range of outdoor experience from RV hookups to primitive tent camping and group camps. There are seven swim beaches in the recreation area and a number of boating ramps, with some swim areas and ramps reserved for campers. Nearly 14 miles of hiking trails wind across the hilly lakeshore, with most of them offering easy, brief hikes perfect for family outings. Spotting bald eagles and osprey is just one of many opportunities to view wildlife, and the lake’s ecology is further explored in the visitor center exhibit hall.

Avoid the commute, relax and enjoy the North Carolina State Fairgrounds' campgrounds. With 100 full-service sites and an additional 200 sites on the grounds, we are equipped for all your RV camping needs. Rental cost for a 24-hour period is $30. The campground is closed to the public for the month of October for the N.C. State Fair. Spaces are first come, first served with no advance reservations taken. Check in upon arrival by calling 919-612-6767.

About 40 miles to Raleigh and with easy access from I-95 (exit 90), it's on the direct route to Myrtle Beach, Wilmington and Emerald Isle. The Campground also is conveniently midway between the Northeast and Florida. Travelers will appreciate our manicured grounds and ample areas to relax and enjoy a great southern day.  Enjoy our free wireless high speed internet throughout our campground and the adjoining motel while the children (young and old) enjoy playing. Wake up in the morning to a free Continental Breakfast (Fri-Sun) and spend the day Shopping up the road at the Carolina Premium outlet center and JR Tobacco.  You'll find the delicious North Carolina barbecue and fried chicken that Smithfield is famous for.  For the golfer.... We have six courses nearby to take up your day or week (Johnston County Country Club, Reedy Creek Golf Course, Cardinal Country Club, Pine Hollow Golf Club, Riverwood Golf & Athletic Club and the Neuse Golf Club). 

We are the closest Campground to Tucker Lake and it is only minutes from our front door and is recommended trip for the family! This lake has something for everyone including a large slide, paddle boats, and rope swings, and shaded picnic area with grills.
