Great spot in the Smokies

Elkmont is right here n the National Park. Close to great hiking and occasional wildlife. Bears have been extra active this year, and rangers advise taking extra precautions. All National Park campgrounds are primitive, so no water, or electric. Put toilets and no showers. There is a dump station…

This one's for the hikers

You can access this campsite by various means, but do your research and save yourself as many steps, because make no mistake, this is a serious hiking trail (a mile to a mile and a half, depending on route) up to the Fire Tower.

Part of the Appalachian Train, once you park your car or…

  • Panorama of the view from the tower.

Nice Campground

Well maintained campground, with pretty views. Campsites are often uneven with alot of tree roots running throughout. It does require consideration before parking your trailer or RV.

Everything you want in a state park

What a lovely, relaxing park. There is an area for day-use people, with boat rentals, a small swimming area, and playgrounds (including mini golf!).

As for camping, you have two options: a large drive-in section (each with electric and water), some near the lake, some more forested, and some…

Small park, big sites

Camped with my daughter and our two dogs for 2 nights and really loved this park. We had a large, multilevel campsite that was just perfect for tent camping. Very woodsy and quaint but the rangers office had lots of small gear/tools in case you forgot something, ice, they are open 7 days 12-8pm and…

Best campground in the Great Smoky Mountains NP

We camped in our multi-purpose enclosed trailer. We stayed in the ‘C-section’ which is generator free, so a bit quieter than the B-loop. We camped 3 nights and saw coyotes and deer in/around the campsite every day. The last day, Sunday morning, as we were packing up to leave, a mother bear and her…

Quiet and peaceful campground

This place is great! It was very quiet and clean and peaceful. There was a good amount of space between the different campsites, and the bathrooms were very nice! This was my first time camping, and I'm sure a first trip can make or break it for a lot of campers, but I will definitely be venturing…

Scenic Site

Beautiful campground with great hiking and incredible views! West rim is more secluded and quiet but East Rim is more convenient access to the visitor center, trail head and other activities. Wonderful camping here… we can’t wait to go back.

Alongside NC Arboretum

We stayed in this NC state park and could not have liked it more. Great hosts, clean bathhouse. Small lake (ok for kids and dogs) but near Asheville, lots of hiking and backs up to the beautiful NC Arboretum with its miles of trails. Ours was electric only, full hookups nearby. I also liked sites…

Best Primitive

Love this area. It can get a little crowded on weekends but overall you can find some pretty nice spots up and down the trail. Trout fishing, rafting, tubing and hiking. everything the primitive camper might want. No bathrooms available.

One of my favorite places to stay.

Little Arrow is very clean and well run. Playground for the kids is well maintained. Hands down the nicest bathhouse Ive seen anywhwere. The pool area is awesome. Close to Cades Cove and right at the entrance to Smokey Mountains National Park. Just cant say enough good things about it.
