Right on the river

Older campground yet clean facilities. Right n the River very tight entrance not suited for bigger rigs. Campsites are tight to get in and out of as well. Older full timers in the grounds but they are very nice people staying in them. Overall a nice little spot.

Bad Place to stay

I find it interesting how Steve is able to remove the negative reviews posted here by saying they got the wrong campground. Steve is all about the money and is not worried about who he lets stay here as long as they pay. The washer has been broken for months and no Wifi. When you get a heavy rain…

Beautiful campground

This is a nice campground with sites decently spread out.  One drawback is that from the campground there is no easy access to the lake- you can either drive and park (and hope to find parking) or walk on a busy road .  The lake is lovely, though, we rented a paddleboard and had a wonderful…

Accessible, clean, great privacy

We picked this campground due to it's close proximity to downtown Asheville since it was at the end of a week long camping trip. It was the perfect location to go to the brewery district for a couple of hours in the evening (10-15 minutes away). That being said, it felt like you were far from an…

Great Location for family and hikes!

Beautiful campground! Right by the river, which makes for wonderful sleeping at night. There is a swimming hole and a fishing hole, both well-maintained. Campground hosts were very nice. Lots of trees for some cool coverage from the sun. About a 30 minute drive from Mount Mitchell, and it's a…

Awesome water front rv site

We started our season out with this trip and had a blast. This was one of the best rv parks we have stayed at. We had a park that backed up to the big lake and had neighbors at both neighboring sites, we still had plenty of room. The people running the park were super friendly and took great pride…

Awesome RV Park

Hello, we stayed here last weekend and had a blast. Its a very well kept park with over 300 spots. Plenty of room in spots for pets and children. We had a blast with out 3 year old daughter and our standard poodle.

Secluded Campground w/ Lots of Trails!

Decided to stay at this campground after reading the other reviews and it did not disappoint. We stayed in site 50 in the Lakeside Loop - it had more privacy than a lot of the other sites, and was right next to a trail leading down to the Homestead trail that goes around the lake. The facilities…

Beautiful mountain campground

The staff here is friendly and attentive. They do an excellent job cleaning the bathrooms/showers and maintaining the trails and roads. Upon arrival, a staff member escorted us to our campsite and offered to help us back our tiny teardrop into the site. Sweet. The site we had was fairly level and…

Simple yet beautiful

We love this campground and try to visit twice a year. Large tent pads, we were able to Tetris three tents on ours (see photo below) Beautiful landscape, great hikes nearby, friendly campground hosts, clean bathrooms, and elk. The elk walked through our campsite one morning. It was amazing.

Dispersed Camping Spot

Pull in spot on the corner of the forest road near a creek. Space for one vehicle. Not compatible with big rigs or travel trailers.

Minimalist and quiet

Cosby is a less-well-known campground in SMNP. Most of the sites are tent-only, with a few, like ours, for trailers and no tent pad. The campground is laid out on a mountain slope, so the loops switchback up the hill. Even though you can see your neighbors, the varied terrain and trees help give…

  • All sites have side-along parking, even those for trailers, so we had to get a bit creative with our positioning. It would be perfect for teardrop or a-line trailers.
  • Plenty of trees with good trunks for hammocks.

Primitive camping with trails

This is a good campground which is primitive and close to a motorized trail system. I ride my dirtbike there often. day pass for just riding is $5, or annual for $30.
