Friendly Family Campground!

Loved how nice everyone was at this campground! I usually tow my little pop-up alone so I am always grateful when someone helps me back in! They were so nice about letting us also have a tent on our site and didn’t give us any grief about extra cars or people. The bathhouse was always super clean…

4 out of 5

Grandfather Mountain Campground hits the mark in a number of regards; however, due to a recent influx of residents to the area and the subsequent traffic, the campground is very noisy, even through the early evening hours. It has everything to do with it being adjacent to a heavily used highway and…

Nice and Quiet

This camp ground is located well off any main roads under a nice quiet canopy of Hemlocks and Laurel trees. Easy walking distance to several well maintained and very clean outhouses. The camp ground has a small babbling creek on one side. Some open grass areas and a few hill side camp spots. (…

Nice little campground!

We called and reserved a site last minute, in October! This little park is a hidden gem if you like small and quiet. The positives: Location: very close to Grandfather Mountain entrance and BRP. There are plenty of stores, restaurants, antiques nearby too. Cabins and tent sites: There are…

Incredible hiking but not so great camping...

Perfectly located to bag 5000 footers (including Mt. Rogers) and for hiking in the high country!  The campground hosts were awesome and the services were great.

We had two issues you should be aware of...

Issue 1: the wells were pretty dry so we had no water hook up, no hot showers, and…

  • Easy hike to an outstanding sunrise!
  • Awesome examples of nature at work
  • Not a wild pony...

Lots of privacy and amenities

This was a great campsite. We stayed in a tent electric site and it wasn’t really woodsy but it had a nice little privacy fence and was in great shape. Perfect for car campers. The primitive sites looked much more woodsy, I might have chosen that instead of a hookup site if I had known, but its…

Excellent campsite

We stayed 2 nights at this campground and we were throughly impressed. The campsite we had was large and well kept, and was located right by the bath house. The bathroom facilities were very clean and made the stay much easier, especially since we were camping with kids. We will definitely be back!

Classic NC State park

We visited in April. Beautiful days hiking nearby, cold nights. Pet friendly. Pretty clean bath house. Visitors center nearby. Sites were mostly level, with gravel, fire pit, picnic table. Some were classically wooded, shady and some in the bright sun. Cute small town nearby.

The Hostess with the Mostest

Getting close to dark on a holiday weekend when we found this place. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, even offered to deliver our firewood since we were on motorcycles.

Perfect for Families

Family-friendly campground with plenty of fun activities for kids. Playground, fishing pond, disc golf, recreation and game area, and ice cream trailer. Our site was nicely shaded and fairly level. Fire pit and picnic table at each site. There appears to be a lot of long-term residents but all…
