## Overview

 Large groups enjoy this cozy mountain campground in the Pisgah National Forest of western North Carolina. Ample opportunities for recreation exist in the area, including hiking, picnicking, scenic driving, swimming, fishing, mountain biking and more.
## Recreation

 This is a great place for campers to simply relax in the woods and listen to the sound of the creek. Visitors can also explore the area\'s numerous hiking trails, check out crystal clear waterfalls or fish for trout in the creek and a nearby lake.
## Facilities

 Kuykendall Group Camp has a shaded camping area for tents and RVs. The site is equipped with picnic tables, vault toilets, lantern posts, campfire rings with grills and drinking water.
## Natural Features

 Kuykendall Group Camp is just 4 miles from the town of Brevard and about an hour from the city of Asheville. The site is located in the Appalachian Mountains at an elevation of 2,600 feet. The surrounding national forest boasts mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls and slopes thickly forested with hardwoods. The group camping area is adjacent to Kuykendall Creek. Visitors should note that creek crossing is required on the road leading to the campground. Heavy rains may temporarily make crossing difficult; a four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle is recommended. 
## Nearby Attractions

 The city of Asheville is about an hour away and offers numerous cultural attractions, art galleries, shops and restaurants. The quaint mountain community of Brevard is also nearby and has various amenities and services.

Pisgah National Forest Kuykendall Group Campground

Large clearing in the forest for setting up tents or trailers. There is a short creek crossing: 4-WD or high clearance is suggested, but several in our group made it across in minivans &amp; sedans (water was low). Large fire ring between 4 picnic tables, 2 composting toilets, 1 bear box, &amp; a hand-cranked well pump. Trail from near privy goes to small waterfall &amp; pool upstream of camp.

Even after setting tents up for 40 people, we still had plenty of room for kids to play soccer, etc. in the field between. Watch out for ruts &amp; valleys in the field. I’d suggest camping on the upper hill for least amount of rain run off, or along the treeline near the water pump for morning shade. Easy access to other trails &amp; waterfalls in the area. We immediately reserved for next year!

Great place for a group of up to 60 friends to camp!

The groups site is basically a huge field equipped with a fire pit, picnic tables, and pit toilets. the field is level and provides plenty of space to park cars and setup tents. 

  

The campground is located very close to Brevard and all wonderful attractions it has to offer - the shops and restaurants, hikes and waterfalls. BTW, there's a beautiful waterfall just a few miles from the campsite - [Catheys Creek Falls](https://goo.gl/maps/KhbUqvexgWts8b4h9).

  

One thing you need to know about the campsite - you'll need to cross a stream when coming into the camp. It's not deep and an SUV wouldn't have a problem. However, a lower clearance vehicle can get into trouble, especially after heavy rains.
