Lake Michie is one of Durham’s water reservoir. This property is actually managed by Durham Park and Rec and you are supposed to pay to reserve; however most folks do not. This site is primitive and borders the lake. The road is very rutted and unkempt. Two pit toilets are located nearby and well hidden. There is a small stone fire pit with a grill top attached.
Large field and dispersed camping throughout the area. Plenty of pine straw and wood to use for a fire.
The road in is also someone’s driveway so use caution.
** As of 5/2020 the road into this camping area is very rutted and probably too treacherous for any vehicle without some ground clearance
This is a very secluded campground close to Lake Mickie, Who has kayak rental Friday through Monday, March until November. This campsite is way off the main road, and I suggest a truck, not sure the average car would make it. It is very basic but seem to be very clean
Bad roads in, nice cheap dispersed camping. Stayed here one night while on the road to Jamestown from Asheville worked for me! Don't know if most cars would be able to make it there safely.
