Trails End is an RV park with a sense of community

This campground is strictly for RVs. You can reserve a site through their website or by calling the phone number since there is no office. When you go, make sure you have your own toilet facilities. Fortunately, we have a porta-potti and a privacy shelter since we have a teardrop without toilet facilities. With that understanding, it is a well maintained campground with wonderful views of the mountains. It is also in the middle of a rural farming community, which offers photographers plenty of material and peace. Since most of the campers are there full time and there are no major highways nearby, it is really quiet. I got a chance to talk to the maintenance person and one of the campers. I could tell immediately that it would be a pleasant experience camping here, and I could also tell that there is a sense of community here. The camper I talked to was glad to see me there, and we talked for quite a while.

As far as the site, it was gravel with water, electric, and sewer, which is a good thing since there is no bath house. There is a“club house,” which has laundry facilities, a community refrigerator, a dart board, and a wood stove. As far as activities for children, I didn’t see anything to get excited about. I think this campground is really geared toward adults. However, location is everything. It is near Cataloochee Valley, trout fishing creeks, tubing, and plenty of hiking trails.

Would I recommend it? Yes, if you have a fully contained RV or travel trailer and want to go out exploring. No, if you are a tent camper or have a small travel trailer without facilities. It is not a destination, but it is a hub for many other things to go see.
