About

Aesthetic and secluded waterfall getaway for two/four in the Catskills! Book the sister site only 100 yards away for a larger group.

Overview A beautiful and quiet spot right at the foot of a 90 foot seasonal waterfall, this secluded site is complete with an amazing ecosystem in your backyard that includes forest, marshland, two intersecting creeks and lush greenery. Hike up the steep road to the top of the falls to discover five smaller falls to wade and relax in as well as great views of the mountains in the distance. Just 2 hours from NYC, this gem is just a few minutes down the road from the Mohonk Preserve (note there is admission fee to enter the preserve but it is well worth it). Enjoy fly fishing in the Rondout Creek. There is fantastic hiking including 75 miles of hiking trails in the Mohonk Preserve, the Trestle (open for walking) just 3 minutes away in Rosendale, Lake Minewaska and Lake Awasting less than 20 minutes away, Sam's point (30 minutes away and requires a reservation on weekends) as well as numerous hiking trails locally. Download the "AllTrails" app for a comprehensive listing of hikes including descriptions and reviews. Also some great little museums (even a teddybear museum in Stone Ridge) and galleries. The quality and quantity of old stone houses, some dating from the early 1600's is unmatched. Well worth a drive around the area. Marbletown, Stone Ridge and Hurley are the best towns to view these gems. We have probably the best road biking in the east. Great mix of flats and killer climbs. Contact me directly for suggestions on rides of any length and difficulty. Access for the Walkill Rail Trail is less than 2 miles away and right next to the Rosendale Trestle. There are also many wineries and distilleries in the area to visit.

There are several access points on the Walkill for fishing, canoeing and kayaking just a couple of miles away. Have brunch at The Big Cheese on Main Street in Rosendale, or take a 30 minute drive to Woodstock, 10 min to Stone Ridge, 10 min to New Paltz, 15 min to Kingston. Just two miles away in downtown Rosendale is Joppenbergh Mountain. You can park in the municipal lot behind the shops where the trail head begins. It is an easy climb to the top. There is SO much to do in this area!

There is a human built dam at the foot of the falls making a little reservoir about 4-5 feet deep and 50 feet long. A great place to dangle your feet in the cool water or even take a short swim...or sit on a fallen tree and sip a cool drink. Walk the property, wade in the stream, do yoga at the top of the waterfall. It's 27 acres of outdoor bliss.

We now allow climbing on our waterfall (known to climbers as Baird's Wall) as well as some great bouldering near the falls. Just let us know ahead of time that you will be climbing and sign a liability waiver before you head out.

Be aware there are bears (extremely rare) and many other kinds of wildlife that roam the property, so please make sure to keep food and waste in your car. There are deer, beavers, rabbits, turkeys, turtles, eagles and more. We do not allow hunting.

Please ensure to do regular tick checks!

We'll leave you a 5-gallon jug of water and some firewood for your visit. We also provide a few other essentials like bug repellent, lighter, some cooking utensils, toilet paper etc. We also provide a share box so you might find some important detail that you forgot to bring and you might leave some essential for the next guest. Please do bring your trash with you on the way out and leave the land as it was when you arrived. Please be very careful about fires and smoking. If you take is dip in the reservoir or Coxingkill Creek, please do not introduce any soap or shampoo out of respect for Mother Nature and all her amazing creatures.

Note that the tent is comfortable for two people, there is an additional tent that you can pitch to accommodate an additional two people. While the land has a neighboring site a respectable distance away (100 yards), this spot is entirely serene and the only sounds that can be heard are the water and surrounding nature! Book this site by itself for a wilderness getaway for two or four, or both tents for a group.

Please do feel free to walk the property, wade in the stream, do yoga at the top of the waterfall. It's 27 acres of outdoor bliss. We now allow climbing on our waterfall (known to climbers as Baird's Wall) as well as some great bouldering near the falls. Just let us know ahead of time that you will be climbing and sign a liability waiver before you head out.

We have just improved the road so that it is drivable to the waterfall under nearly all conditions. Please note that we are constantly improving the site. We are nearly done cleaning out the Ash forest along the creek. There are over 300 Ash trees that were decimated by the Emerald Ash Borer (much of the wood harvested is being used to build our house). We are in the process of removing those and replanting with new wetland trees. We will also be excavating the base of the waterfall soon to make a much larger and deeper swimming hole. Don't worry, we will never be working when we have guests at our sites.

When you get to the property, just drive down the dirt road past the vintage trailer and our house under construction. Take the road down the hill and make a right at the bottom of the hill. Follow the road in and you will see signs pointing to your site.

Please ensure to do regular tick checks! It helps to use some bug repellent, especially around your ankles before venturing out. The ticks are not airborne so they can only get to you by jumping on your ankles. The risk of Lyme is extremely low if the tick has been on you for less than 36 hours so vigilance and daily checks are the best defense.

The Space: Reservoir retreat with cliffs, streams and waterfall.

Guest Access: This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with farmers, ranchers, and other property owners to offer unique outdoor accommodations on beautiful private land. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature! You'll have the entire campsite to yourself, as you'll be the only Campers enjoying this piece of paradise.

Each campsite includes a 10'x12' safari-style canvas tent on a raised platform, and you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed inside (each site is different, see photos for the exact setup). Larger groups can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that___s provided (you___re welcome to bring your own camping gear too). You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night.

What you should bring: -S'mores supplies & any food you'd like to eat -A cooler to keep your grub from spoiling -Bedding and pillows -Lanterns and lighting

Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property.

If a CampKeeper submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the CampKeeper___s property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!

Occupancy: Max occupancy refers to the total number of campers allowed at the site during your reservation.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. Line the bucket with a CleanWaste bag supplied at the camp (or another appropriate plastic bag) prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. We got this idea from bathrooms used on NASA spaceships, and we've used the Tentrr Loo countless times ourselves- don't worry!

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Interaction with Guests: In the age of social distancing, isolated time can still be quality time - especially when you___re unplugged and out in nature - and we want you to know that the Tentrr team and our hosts are working together to make sure you have a safe and relaxing experience. Our hosts have been doing a great job ensuring our campsites are clean and spotless for your arrival. We ask that you do your part as well - maintain social distancing, clean up after yourselves, and leave no trace - so that everyone in our camping communities can enjoy these cherished outdoor spaces.

To limit the potential impact of community spread during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are encouraging our campers and hosts to adopt self-check in procedures whenever possible. To make self check-in easy, Tentrr provides a map to your site and driving directions in an email sent out a few days before your reservation. Please refer to this guide to get to your campsite. As a reminder, it is good practice to give your host a head's up on your estimated arrival time a few days beforehand. If you need any assistance, you can reach out to your host through the contact information provided in your confirmation email.

Other Things to Note: Please do feel free to walk the property, wade in the stream, do yoga at the top of the waterfall. It's 27 acres of outdoor bliss. We now allow climbing on our waterfall (known to climbers as Bairds Wall) as well as some great bouldering near the falls. We'll leave you a 5-gallon jug of water, some firewood and solar lights for your visit. Please do bring your trash with you on the way out and leave the land as it was when you arrived. Please be very careful about fires and smoking, especially when it is dry. Food wise, we recommend a simple and delicious solution. Foil meals. Try this site for some inspiration. https://www.unexpectedlydomestic.com/foil-pack-dinners/ one hint, bring a food thermometer as it is hard to tell when your meal is done.

There are spectacular cliffs and rock formations all along the ridge. Just be careful not to tread too heavily on the mosses. They have taken generations to achieve their present glory.
